Hello M.R,
Here are important tips concerning outdoor sensors for weather stations.
I own both brands of Newentor and Accurite great weather stations.
All my outdoor sensors are wrapped in double zipped sandwich bags, and extra secured with rubber bands.
I simply insert a small tie wrap under the elastic bands, so that I can hang them in a safe dry and sun free location.
This method has benefited my sensors to remain in mint condition and trouble free, even in the outside environment.
I strongly discourage exposing any weather sensor without these simple procedures.

Can this connect to Weather Underground?
Yes. You can use the weather station underground. You may choose to place the outdoor remote sensor underground, while the indoor station anywhere. Both can connect each other at a distance of about 70 meters.
