    Thanks so much for making these! I'm trying to learn to ink with a brush and there are very few good vids like this that are so clearly presented and helpful. Thanks again

    When I watch people like you work I have to assure myself that you are a freak of nature with gifts directly from the gods. Otherwise I start to feel pretty inadequate.
    Coolest name!

    ‘effing awesome! I’m a retired geezer who draws and inks strictly for fun. My favorite tools are the Crow 102 and 512 nibs, along with brushes. I learned a huge amount from your vids today. Thank you for sharing.

    Leila, thank you for these videos. They're SO inspiring! Your brush control is amazing! I would ask how you became so confident and skilled...but, like Sandra Hope, another spectacular inker, I know the answer is...many, many, hours of practice! Thanks again! Time for me to order a Raphael sable! =)

    You know, I use Windsor and Newton brush but it is crap because the point loose it’s point. Which is your brush ? How can u maintain the tip ? Thank u so much…

    • @helioscopepdx6666
      @helioscopepdx6666  3 года назад +4

      I switched from Windsor Newton to Raphael brushes for that exact reason! Plus, it seemed like every second or third Windsor Newton brush was crap right from the start. To maintain my Raphael brushes as much as possible, I wash them out with "The Master's Brush Cleaner" after every use, even if I think I'll come back to use them in 15 minutes. The less ink that dries in there, the better. And I think The Master's has some sort of conditioning in their product that helps keep the damage down.

    Very cool styling! Just getting started and a super beginner. How did you get the drawing on the Bristol board that you then ink on top of? I bought the special blue pencils to sketch out first thinking the scanner wouldn’t pick it up and it totally does. Guess that was an old school trick. Anyways I was wanted to learn more about the stages before the inking. Thanks!

    • @helioscopepdx6666
      @helioscopepdx6666  3 года назад +1

      I print it with my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 printer. It prints up to 13x19 inch artwork and can handle thicker bristol. As for your blue line problem, try this video at the :30 mark. This guy explains how to get rid of blue lines from scans better than I could! ruclips.net/video/CjV-GE1VuNs/видео.html

    Your ink tutorials were really helpful!. I'm in Camosun's Comics and Graphic Novels Program in Victoria, BC (Canada). Do you or anyone else in the studio use traditional coloring tools? Not many RUclips videos seem to share these techniques as a lot of them are digital. Thank you for making these videos :)

    • @helioscopepdx6666
      @helioscopepdx6666  10 месяцев назад

      Most of us color digitally, but a lot of us know how to color traditionally. Cat Farris is the first who comes to mind. She’s watercolored he latest two graphic novels. Watercolors are popular with our studiomates!

    Hey Hellio, thank you for not going to the Ai way and thank you for doing RUclips.i am back into drawing again when i draw i color in as i go, do you know why ? Do i like a finished picture? Do i like coloring
    Do i like both because I like to draw, or is it because when i was a kid, i was doing some doodling, and now I'm trying to make up for all that lors time???
    If you know, let me know because I like to draw, but i also like to colr.
    Thank you ❤
    Do you have any comic books 📚 out that i can pick up out right now on book shelves?

      I'm using a Bogen 3001 Professional Tripod (made in Italy by Manfrott Nord, it says). We never looked up how much it's worth, but my boyfriend found it in a free pile once and we couldn't believe someone was giving it away! It's fantastic!

    what numbers do you advise using a brush?

    • @helioscopepdx6666
      @helioscopepdx6666  2 года назад

      I'm using a size 2, Raphael Kolinsky Sable Brush. For my work, size 2 has been best since I like really small lines, but I've known other artists who like inking with a size 3, even 4. Also depends on how largely you're working. The smaller the page, the smaller the brush perhaps.
