- Dreadwing's tenure on Transformers: Prime was memorable, but brief. With the show's troubled production history, was there supposed to be more planned for him?

Him teaming up with Predaking to take on starscream for revenge would have been epic
Dreadwing was the Prime counterpart of Dinobot. He was the only true Decepticon that actually believed in the cause and didn’t let Megatron’s greed for power blind him. I also like how he didn’t want to join the Autobots either he just no longer wanted to be part of the now pointless war. His only true enemy this whole time was Starscream.
Because of Starscream's ambition to reanimate Skyquake, the same way Megatron did with the previous Cybertronian corpses with Dark Energon.
Saying Dreadwing was the only Decepticon that still believe in the faction's cause isn't true.
*Starscream* still wants to rebuild Cybertron, so he can go back to his old days of being a renowned high-ranking officer. You can see him going ape shit when Optimus destroyed the device used to restore Cybertron, while Megatron is just laughing about how Autobots can never come "home" again. Megatron is now obsessed with beating the Autobots and cared not for Cybertron.
*Soundwave* was a member of the Cybertron council, whose idea of abolishing the unfair caste system was casted aside. He grew disdain and took the Vow of Silence, since what's the point of talking if nobody is willing to listen?
You could also count *Shockwave* in as well, since he only wants to experiment, to advance the Cybertronian race. And he became so cold and calculating was because that same Council removed his emotions.
The Decepticon cause initially was to make all bots equal (Remember, Megatron was initially a mining robot).
But it soon became lost when Megatron cares more about beating the Autobots than saving his own planet (remember in G1 the only reason they came to Earth was because they need to find more Energon to transport back to Cybertron because the war left the planet near dead).
The Autobots were the ones who wanted that unfair caste system back. So in truth, who's the bad guy here?

If the bots are the bad guys, so are the cons as well.
In war, there is no "bad guy" alot lf the time, some rare occasions yes but alot of the time. War is fought over both sides wanting a goal that is beneficial in some ways but their ways of wanting it are tyrannical or too unfair in nature. This is why for example you can root for America in war movies all you want but even America committed war crimes so not even they were innocent themselves.
I would have liked a season 3 ep where we see dreadwing go on a journey of self reflection and later on we see him join up with the autobots after going rogue in season 2.
I rather thought about Dreadwing tossing Starscream to Shadowzone to find Skyquake and bring him back not-alive, so Dreadwing himself could put his brother out misery at last. Moreover, finding Megatron equally guilty, Dreadwing would challenge Megatron himself for the right of ruling Decepticons. During the epic duel Dreadwing would prevail and become a new leader by killing Megatron. When that happens, Starscream escapes and ironically he would try resurrecting Megatron, not just to save his own spark but out of newfound loyality for his master. Meanwhile Optimus would be relieved at first to see Megatron no longer in charge, only to witness in horror Dreadwing still following his predecessor's ambitions to create a new Decepticon Empire. Once Dreadwing's offer to Prime to create as equals a new, powerful Cybertron Empire like never seen before and which would "share its gifts in no-Megatron way" with the rest of the universe, even Earth, would be rejected, Dreadwing would turn against Autobots.
Yeah that would’ve be a good reflection arc but NOPE.
Maybe Dreadwing could change his name to Jetfire if he joined the Autobots.🛩️🤷

A sword is more personal than a gun and he had just stolen from Megatron. I think Dreadwing realized he was cooked either way and decided he might as well go after Starscream while he was vulnerable.

If they really had to get rid of him due to budget cuts, they should've just had him leave Earth and travel around the galaxy. Could say he's trying to find peace or something.

I really liked Dreadwing too, and I think Megatron's decision to off him instead of Starscream was entirely illogical. Dreadwing was much more loyal and honorable than Screamer, and in my opinion Megs didn't make that choice having already thought-out the ramifications of it. (Granted, he had a much longer history with Starscream than DW, and he wouldn't have kept him as SIC if he thought he couldn't control him+his treacherous side. Plus like you said, he didn't really care about DW as a person.)
I agree with you that DW going rogue instead of joining the Bots makes more sense initially, but since he did bother to come give them a powerful relic and explain his circumstances to them, prehaps he would occasionally show up to assit them in battle, if purely to ensure that the Decepticons didn't achieve victory, since that seems to be why he gave the Bots the relic in the first place instead of just nopeing out from the Con cause. Sure, maybe he just wanted revenge at first, but his strong sense of honor might've eventually helped him to realize that the Autobots are actually the ones fighting for a more honorable cause. Either way, it would've been awesome to see him fight Predaking
I think Predaking and Dreading would've gotten along given how they conduct themselves
At that time Starscream was in a better postion. He gave megatron the 4 omega keys and asked only to be a con again. Dreadwing dissobeyed orders and gave away the forge.
Shortsided from megatron but not illogical in the heat of the moment.

Dreadwing & Skyquake should make a Live Action appearance in the Rebooted Transformers Franchise. They should look similar to thier Transformers Prime incarnation, But with a few changes here and there. Hopefully we can get Tony Todd to voice Dreadwing again.
It's sad but it seems that unless the character is part of the main cast (or promoted to main cast) it's more likely to die to soon. Even if it's a great character or fan-favorite.

Honestly Dreadwing was that one antagonistic character who could’ve been developed more than he was. Sure he did get some decent growth since his time on the show but it would have been interesting to keep him around longer, like he could’ve strike out on his own after his attempted assassination on Starscream now not wanting to serve the Decepticon cause which he now views as corrupt. That’s just my thoughts on the matter.
I have always been a fan of 'Cons joining the autobots since Armada Starscream, and feel Prime had the most potential for it between Breakdown, Dreadwing, and eventually Knockout. All three of those characters had genuine potential reasons for possible defections, amd I would love to see what would have happened had they happened; maybe Knockout and Breakdown eventually help Ratchet deal with his age and help him become more of a presence on the front lines. Maybe Breakdown and Wheeljack form an odd friendship based on their history with Bulkhead and crude approaches to combat, or it's Wheeljack and Dreadwing sharing their love of explosives. Maybe Dreadwing finds a kindred spirit in Arcee as they talk about the losses and Tragedies they've suffered, especially since they both have beef with Starscream.
The only think supporting KO joining the autobots is his love for human culture such as their automobiles, movies, games etc.

If someone told me that I'd actually be stunned hurt and cry when Dreadwing dies, and him refusing to join the AB, I wouldn't have believed them...
Maybe sometime in the future, a team of animators could do a remake of the TFP story and add things to improve the story as a presumable anniversary?

I think it would be interesting to join them for a few fights, and maybe sacrifice himself. Such wasted potential. Same thing with breakdown and Cylas.

Dreadwing is my favourite TF: Prime character (apart from Predaking) and I would gladly buy his old figure over his recent version if not for the clear plastic…
Why didn't he get a payback match against Bumblebee after all he was the one who ripped Skyquake's circuits and took his spark

I belive he should have lived. Dreadwing joins the bad Guys for a cause of his own, he's brother of course.
Dreadwing is an anti hero and I think that bulkhead and wheeljack need some time to exept him, but i belive that he would get along with arcee. Since a loss of those they have known is gone. That is something they both have incomming

I just realised that Dreadwing's laser cannon is just a modifed version of Skyquake's Minigun.

To answer your question at the end i was also unsatisfied with how his story ended and upset to see dreadwing die especially by his own canon i absolutely wanted him to take up Optimus's offer but it is what it is, breakdowns death bothered me just as much but thats the price of war.
I wanted the most to see Skyquake and Dreadwing be together. It didn't seem fair that they were killed off way to soon. So heartbreaking that they could never be reunited.
I do will like if dreadwing would live and if beast hunters will have the 26 episodes ltike the other seasons

WOULDN'T life be richer if Dreadwing would join the Autobots as an Elite Guardsman, my friend? I say, yes. Just look at Snapdragon and Doubledealer from "Transformers: Earth Wars". THEY joined the Autobot cause, and I think Dreadwing should as well. AND you were right about one thing as well, my friend. Dreadwing ISN'T a villian at all. He's just a misunderstood Decepticon who REALLY wanted to join the "winning team", and THAT, my friend, is the Autobots. SINCE in BOTH Optimus Prime's and MY theories, SOME Decepticons like Dreadwing, Snapdragon and Doubledealer would rather dig the Autobot cause, SINCE BOTH Optimus Prime and I see the good in some of those Decepticons. This is MY opinion in ALL of this and it has been since I started playing "Transformers: Earth Wars" and feeling sorry for some Decepticons like Snapdragon, Doubledealer and Dreadwing, who ALL believe that the Decepticon cause is something they no longer wish to be part of. And one more thing, till ALL are one.
Every time someone says the Decepticons are the bad side makes me think they didn't understand Decepticons.
Cybertron has a caste system, where your role is assigned to upon creation, and you can't change/rise up. Megatron was a mining robot, forced to work, and all the other worker bots were so depressed they host fighting area (Pits of Kaon) so they can die in glorious battle rather than in the mining tunnels).
Soundwave was a member of Cybertron Council. He proposed change to this unfair system, but the higher-ups didn't want to lose their privileges, casted him out. That's when he grew disdain and took the Vow of Silence. What's the point of talking if nobody is willing to listen.
Optimus thought he could change the caste system with peaceful diplomacy (which obviously will never work, Soundwave did this before). Optimus was too naive to realise those in power will never wants to give up their power.
That's why the war broke out, and the Autobot branded the Decepticons as "evil" when they're the ones who're enforcing that unfair system. They weren't affected, so to them, they only saw these lowly worker bots rebelling and called them villains.
Imagine you're in the Decepticon's shoes, would you quietly accept your fate, or do you rise up, then be branded as "villains" for simply wanting equality?

Dreadwing is my favorite Prime Decepticon tbh. Amazing design, voice, weapons, and fighting style. Even his personality and honor line up with his design and equipment. Too bad he got done dirty by the writers..And you know he's a certified badass when both Megatron AND Optimus respect him
I am an identical twin who is close with her sister, so Dreadwing has always been a very special character to me. I agree, he is one of the best characters in Prime because he is very fleshed out and relatable compared to the other Decepticons. His personal view on honor and his skills as a warrior remind me a lot of Dinobot from Beast Wars. And because of Dreadwing, Tony Todd has my heart forever ❤
I would of liked to see Dread Wing become an Autobot somewhere in season 3 and possibly become either his own new Autobot or an original Autobot flyer maybe possibly becoming the Jetfire of the show because in the original transformers show Jetfire was originally a decepticon, but this is just a little idea I thought of.

Dreadwing wasn't loyal and Megatron knew that.....because why Optimus talking about "Dreadwing do I have your word?" 😂. Plus He killed Dreadwing because he for sure knew Starscream delivers......and thats why he's alive and not pushing up lug nuts.😂😂😂
