    Best online coach. I'm PTR certified since 2009 and I've been incorporating some of these concepts for years, but I've also learned additional ones from you. Great job

    Thank you for putting these videos up. I picked up a racquet after 7-odd years and your videos have helped me develop a reasonably decent technique in a month.

    This is good stuff. Only thing I would add is that ready position would not be holding racquet with racquet head tip pointing straight ahead, the racquet head tip should be pointing slightly left, shaded towards the backhand side, so you are ready to defend the volley straight at you with a backhand volley.

    IMHO, the biggest advantage of stepping out first rather than crossing over with the outside leg is that it enables you to make a final adjustment of spacing to the ball as you make your crossover step. This latter step fixes your final position. Once you cross over with your outside leg, you've committed to your final spacing. Often that initial spacing isn't optimal but you can't then change it once you've done the crossover step. After stepping out, you can make the spacing of the crossover step match the correct position to the incoming ball.

    Great. Only one little flaw: The super kid's outfit is all Adidas - except his socks, damn! Careful out there!

    yes it is great but the bigger flaw is that the coach is showing the movement without the ball having the racket too far behind so the impact point is not in front of the body

    Are you not supposed to step out with the outside foot?

    • @slimpickinses
      @slimpickinses 7 лет назад

      first move is racket side foot step out then lean in. Front foot just keeps you from falling down. If you step across with the outside foot your body is moving sideways instead of forward. Unless the ball comes right at you then I tend to weight the back foot and step forward to the side to get away from it. In either case the outside foot is second

    Don't get it. You spent a lot of time emphasizing the prayer position. Yet when you fed your student the ball with a racquet in his hand, his hands were no longer in the 'prayer position'. His hands started out way below his elbows. ??????

    Have you ever seen how professionals really volley? they don't step forward they only deflect the ball with the racquet in front turning the torso. Watch some videos of Federer volleying ad you will see how it is.
