Maybe my favorite reaction to this series. They're not trying to predict all that much, not clowning at awkward moments. And just letting the feels flow through them naturally.
I don't mind reactors theorising too much as long as they aren't going down insane routes. But I'm loving their restraint on the clowning at important moments. I remember one reaction group saying something along the lines of "we see your comments about us talking over important stuff and we're going to be better about it." Then immediately getting annoyed at the show for not explaining something... they'd talked over the explanation to say they weren't going to talk over explanations any more.
So, in actuality the Elrics weren't alone on that island. The Curtis's actually have another guy who works in the shop (he makes a very short appearance later but otherwise he seems to have been cut from the anime) and he was also on the island to keep an eye on them and ensure they didn't die. So Izumi wasn't nearly as heartless seeming, since she knew that they would be fine. And yeah, Izumi just says 'some of her organs' and while it's never elaborated which ones, it seems to be her reproductive organs (hence why she can't have kids now) and a chunk of some from her digestive tract which is why she's frail and coughing up blood.
1:45 that’s the Flamel Cross. Nicolas Flamel was a 14th century French scientist who studied ‘alchemy’. and the brothers found a mother while teacher found kids. “It’s ok to hurt.” yes, teacher 😭
The end of this episode when the boys are trying to shield the teacher from feeling any guilt for how they ended up, only for her to embrace them and tell them that it's "okay to hurt" was when I knew I was watching something truly special.
The writing and animation is so good it pulls you into the struggles of characters you just met and emotionally connects. Thats why FMA:Brotherhood is one of my all time favorite shows. Great reaction you two. Hope you keep going.
Izumi coughs blood because when whatever organ was taken (we don't know for sure what it was, but definitely a reproductive organ) it was more or less just *deleted* with no care or re-arrangement to fix any problems that would cause. It's probably only sheer luck that she didn't die instantly.
I don’t usually comment but you guys deserve a shout out; not only are you guys consistently GREAT reactors, but you’ve somehow stumbled upon three of the most dark timelines of the shows you’re reacting to simultaneously; Two young boys just looking to reunite with their mother in fmab, a mother looking to reunite with her son in stranger things, and of course Barry and his fucked up life. Chin up guys, it does get so, soo much better (except for Barry, as in the words of gene “you killed somebody and got away with it”) you guys are the best!
I'm happy for both of them that they get to experience the full spectrum of emotion that this show puts you through. all aspects of being alive are a miracle and its funny to hear them complain about the stress of this show, but I hope they accept that its part of the flow.
Episodes like these are amazing, and it never gets old to see people react to them for the first time! This show can be super sad and deppressing, but it's a great story about conspiracy, overcoming trauma, and growing as a person. It teaches you what you should really value in life. Thiswill forever be in the top tier media that I have ever consumed among any platform.
In time, you will know why those among us consider this series a source of inner strength. It may not be obvious right now, but that's part of its beauty. I wish I was you. Watching this show for the first time again.
In a series full of amazing side characters, Izumi will always be right near the top for me. The reveal of her human transmutation attempt and subsequent hug with the brothers is such a wonderful moment
it is FUCKING POWERFUL when an otherwise brash hyper strict character who never seems to lose their cool or show a soft side -- does exactly that. It is the equivalent of a quiet chill man getting very loud and angry
I think that previous episode shows the true miracle, born of a new life, something that Alchemist can't do with their knowledge. It hurts even more if you think about Izumi whose child was a stillborn and couldn't be bring back to life. Izumi also used the word "matrix" which is "uterus" in latin. She is the only one in this show who use this word to describe transmutation circles, I believe.
most of the discussion is pretty tough for most of the series. they pretty much tell you exactly what you need to know when you need to know it. only a little farther in do they start broadening what MIGHT be happening in the future with the events of now
I said this in the last episode too. But it applies here. This show has both many happy and many sad moments! And that is much like real life. No one's life is just pure joy or pure sadness. There are happy moments, and there sad ones too. Why should a well written manga/show be any different? There's a reason it touches so many people. There are a lot of good lessons and morals in the show, along with just feeling authentic and very real despite being a fictional, animated show.
Sending virtual hugs your way. The emotional rollercoaster is real, but it's the journey of life. It has its highs and lows, that fuel moments of growth.
The fact that Trisha calling Ed "Little Man" says a lot when Ed reacts so negatively towards being called little. It's due to being short, yeah, but because it's an all too painful reminder his mom is dead and there's nothing he can do about it anymore.
Honestly… for all us who were the fans before most were(manga and anime), this is why we were emotional wrecks 😂 And also never judge a book by it’s cover-- which is one of the main themes of this show 😜
3x Asking you watch the 2003 FMA series after you watch this one. It deviates from the original plot per request of the creator and has its own interesting plot and is just as good
Why would you do this?! I'm STILL not ok after watching Grave of the Fireflies. It took more than a year to even skim a reaction of it after I watched it and I haven't done it since!!! It's one of those, "Great movie but I never want to watch it again" your things for me. I'm not ready to *feel* like that.
The phrase "It's okay to hurt" made me cry like a baby when I first saw this anime. Around the time this anime came out I lost a lot of childhood friends to senseless gang violence. I forced myself not to cry or show emotion. That moment when I heard that phrase I cried so profusely I feel it changed my life, foreal.
Yeah you guys being emotional have opened yourselves into getting some more Sad Shows and Movies which Is why I recommend A shape of voice and Grave of the fireflies two "uplifting" Anime Movies

You know a story is intense when the fight scenes are (usually) the less emotionally damaging parts
Yeah you were right Arianna it was her uterus. They don't explicitly say the words in this dub but that's what was taken in exchange

*Elrics have perfect little life*
Hohenheim: "Aight Imma head out"
See, the suffering is what makes the show good lol
Hooray for Teacher's official intro!!!!

There’s an OVA that u can look up, to see how Izumi did her training in the mountains

“It’s okay to hurt” deep words
Only she, who made the same mistake, can understand and accept their pain.
10:44 the exact moment the brain cell was shared lol.

Yay! We’re finally meeting Teacher! I don’t know why, but I always enjoy seeing how mom-like she is.

It doesn't get less said but more epic :)

Guys I know this series is hitting you hard in the feelings but man the payoff is worth it keep with it

I can’t wait for them to meet the other characters
The truth begins to unravel. Ever so slightly.
The Curtis family is the best.
Don’t worry guys. It’s gets better
The series is gonna be a roller coaster of intensity.
Sending virtual hugs your way. The emotional rollercoaster is real, but it's the journey of life. It has its highs and lows, that fuel moments of growth.
Awesome reaction of my favorite episode of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood!!!!😊😊😊😊
This show is so good Arianna actually stayed awake 😂❤️
See this is what can happen when dad doesnt come back with the milk. And now Ed hates milk to boot lol
It's cute that you think we grew up to this version
The fact that Trisha calling Ed "Little Man" says a lot when Ed reacts so negatively towards being called little. It's due to being short, yeah, but because it's an all too painful reminder his mom is dead and there's nothing he can do about it anymore.
And now you've met their adopted mom.
Another anime that made me cry a lot was Violet Evergarden, from about halfway in until the end I just cried every. single. episode!
Honestly… for all us who were the fans before most were(manga and anime), this is why we were emotional wrecks 😂 And also never judge a book by it’s cover-- which is one of the main themes of this show 😜

If yall decide to watch another favorite anime of mine is TRIGUN the 1998 version a beautiful story of love and peace ✌🏽
How could they not be moved by You are alive because you consume life !
Ah yes full metal feels strikes again
Maple so damn fiiiine!!!
This series forces the sadness out ;P
can you guys imagine Maple and Arianna watching Hunter x Hunter lol
If it makes you feel any better, you'll be meeting one of the best characters in the next episode.
Since they have chimeras, couldn't they just transplant an arm or leg from a donar?
just waiting for the SNAP scene...it's gonna be a min
You should watch the original fullmetal alchemist and the movie that follows the original series
Doesn’t come quick enough 😢
Why would you do this?! I'm STILL not ok after watching Grave of the Fireflies. It took more than a year to even skim a reaction of it after I watched it and I haven't done it since!!!
