I think that he’s just being sarcastic here. BTW, just finished POP The Last Crown on 16th Feb, I was just blown away by it, it was definitely a good metroidvania as well as a game. Animation following a parry were my favourite thing to do, especially that one with Kind Darius’ move, and 2nd to that, Azdaha’s. Elements of Parkour(the heart of the franchise), were also there, Simurgh’s powers added variations in parkour n combos, it was fun to revisit the places with new abilities. I think it was a good revival of the franchise, plot was predictable at some points but the execution was great. I even got chills at some moments,(spoiler) *especially Sargon’s encounter with the Simurgh n him realising that he can save Vahram.* The ending (Alkara’s reveal) made me have mixed feelings, made me respect the old man more. Absolutely loved the game. It’s a nice revival to the franchise n I hope Ubisoft uses its AAA budget effectively to deliver even better PoP games in the future .
Nice list. Just an FYI regarding Moonscars, the whole moon hunger thing was scaled way back in a patch, it's nowhere near as punishing or difficult as it was.

Record Of Lodoss War: Deedlit In Wonder Labyrinth, Wonder Boy: Dragons Trap, Strider, The Last Faith, Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom should all be among in the Top 10! Prince Of Persia should be 5th Dead Cells should be 4th, Ender Lilies 3rd, Blood Stained: Ritual Of The Night 2nd & Aeterna Noctis should be NUMBER ONE. You forgot to include Touhou Luna Nights!
Good list I will definitely check titles I haven't tried but I have one question, why do people considered Dead Cells a Metroid-vania genre coz it's not prove me worng. For those who love this kind of game try Steam world dig and Guacamele if you haven't already.

I honestly think PoP The Lost Crown is the best metroidvania to date, better than HK and Ori Will of Wisps. Enjoyed it so much, please don't skip it.
