I finally finished it! I had so much footage from this trip, so it was a big task to try and condense it down into a video that I thought would be entertaining for you all. I was really trying to capture just how laid back and fun it was, so I really hope it translated well. I had a blast during my time there and I can't wait to go back. If you guys haven't checked out Goldees yet, seriously,.. book a trip over there, you won't regret it! Anyways, hope you guys enjoy and I'll see you on the next one ✌😁
I would like to know where the Goldies name came from . We had the 1960s version not far from there. Way before the propane and pellets. But there is only 1 original bbg pork . West Tennessee. Not Memphis BS . Memphis still can't compete with the slaw BBQ sandwiches. From West Tennessee. If you don't have the slaw don't bother.
Lol Cecilia told me a story of someone from Australoa who watched Alvins documentary and within 10 hours got on a flight and was at Goldees eating. Her story didnt make the final cut for my video but seems like it was you 😁
Got to try goldee's a few months ago and definitely holds up to the hype. The whole experience of waiting in line, making friends with the other people in line, then you all grab a table and eat together.... Just such a good time. Absolutely cannot wait to get back out there sometime!
You’ve come along way brother! Congrats and I’m glad to have been here to watch your journey! #1 at quality and authenticity in my opinion! Keep up the great work 🎉
What. A. Video! I’m so glad you got to experience Goldee’s! I tell everyone it’s the best plate of food I’ve ever had and I can’t wait to go back. Thanks for the awesome behind the scenes footage of that new offset! They happen to give you any details on that?
I went to goldies this past weekend and they do not play around! I couldn't even get to try the brisket they ran out so fast, but those pork ribs!!! MAN! Fall off the bone delicious!
Not sure what you mean they don't play around. I went couple months ago and they were joking and playing around and laughing as they attended the clients.
Been BBQing long enough to know it is not only technique but it is also the equipment that you have. 5:34 says it all. Those smokers are the same as Franklin's which are the huge LONG smokers that require air pressure to push the smoke out the chimney. The smokers are so long that the smoke goes back and forth multiple times over the smoke before enough pressure causes the smoke to finally come out the chimney. This makes the bark extra dark and the flavor even more powerful. I built a minerature version of this style several years ago and it literally changed everything for me.
Ant! I’ve been watching you for maybe two years now and you have come so far, congratulations my Internet friend! Keep up the good work. One day soon you will be in the BBQ hall of fame.
What’s bbq rat ladling into those wrapped pieces of meat that I assume is briskets at the 6:40 mark in the video? Looks to be a liquid from a crock pot. Any idea?
It was definitely better than my average. But i have cooked briskets before that could be comparable. But the ribs were on a completely different level. I cant even compare to them.
One thing I’ve found about even really nice restaurants is that the food there isn’t necessarily that hard to make at home - given the right instructions and a bit of knowledge. Whats very impressive is making such good food at such a large scale. Kinda disappointing since even the best bbq place near me isn’t as good as my amateur bbq I make at home, but still good. You’re just able to put so much time and effort into a few servings at home so it’s much easier to make it good. To have a bbq place like Goldie’s where you can get relatively excellent bbq is definitely impressive.
So they got the briskets on thr smoker at 8 or 830am thursday and pulled the brisket at 730pm to wrap it and move it into the warmer at 140f or 150f until 11am friday when its ready to serve?
props, lets to be a good lesson for any young folk out there. You don't need decades of work behind you to enter the game. Just work hard, always learn as much as you can about your craft and take over!!
