I like that the boxes are filled with Dewalt tools.
😁 Yes, they are 😁 but I won't lead you astray, there are some Makitas thrown in there.
You can tell a lot about a man by his tools .... kobalt ... you better watch him .. Milwaukee... dadys money .... Dewalt....... introduce him to your daughter 😅
@@theamerican3686This hurts because my dad uses Kobalt, and dewalt, and even though it was my money - I got Milwaukee - in which he has helped me get certain tools(loans) I couldn’t afford entirely lmao.
@@theamerican3686To be fair, we build everything, whole family lives in a compound essentially(family farm with multiple homes on the property). Everyone here but my sister and daughter are welders, and I do our masonry.
I do not have a great income; but I pay my debts and so have good setups - and nothing over my head other than a student loan for $7k(which was a waste, if you want real life usage go with a trade school). Biggest plus? Family stays together, my daughter sees her Grandparents every day.
The only thing Milwaukee is undeniably better at is their packout system
That's a great idea, but it's also $400-$500 more than the original setup you had. Lol
You are 100% right. It took me a long time to talk myself into justifying as I really didn't want to spend the money. I just finally decided I was tired of unstacking for the saws which is all I kept in the bottom box. I'm still debating how I feel about the dolly. But I do love not unstacking lol Thanks for watching.
For a craftsman whose work pays it off, and it’ll last for years… I’d say it’s a worthwile investment
@@herkerr I totally agree. I'm not the guy who's work will pay it off unfortunately. 🙄
My truck build out is extensive and expensive, but maximizes moduler consolation, organization, and efficiency. The payoff is sometimes worth the benefits.
@@FreeLander5280 That sounds pretty sweet. I've seen a few truck builds on here and I impressed. Yes, I used to spend so much time looking for stuff that now I'd rather spend a little extra to organize then to spend hours looking for what I know I just had yesterday lol
"How to fix a problem with the packout.. step 1: Buy an entire new setup. Step 2: all done!" 😂 what a great fix!
😂
100% - sold my 7ft stack and won't replace it with red.
😂😂😂😂
I'm keeping my milk crates.
This guy has the cleanest tools ive ever seen. Almost look unused 😅😅😅
😂
If you haven’t noticed, tools are made these days to collect. They make them out of plastic so it’s fast and easy for you to keep on collecting! Thankfully they keep the prices up to make you feel like you got quality.
I keep my tools as clean and looking new as possible, and I use and abuse my tools. I just take a few minutes after I use them to clean them before I put them back in the Packout, or wherever I store them.
Only Milwaukee can sell a solution to a problem they created…
True statement. And they are so good at getting away with it.
😂😂😂😂
Apple too!
And thats the 12v packout solution, Theyll have a solution in 18v version too! 😂
Wait til you see the new packout drawer dolly they're coming out with😂
*Thank you so much for the tip. I went on offerup and sold all my tools, my car and my house. Then i went to home depot and bought the dolly and box modular toolboxes. One day my kids will be able to afford tools to put inside. It brings a tear to my eye.*
Haha don't worry. You're now in the official Packout club. We've all had to go through that to get these plastic boxes. I know your pain.
@fishy2939 I know he was. I was just letting him know I understand which is why I called them plastic boxes.
You sir are hilarious 😂 I'm actually sat on my own laughing my a55 off 😅 respect and appreciation from the UK 🇬🇧.
Maxtool runs deals all the time. Dolly gets marked down to $200 + $50 off of $200 or $90 off of $300.
I just sit my pack puts on a 100 dollar rolling cart. I use the drawer system also. I’m a mobile mechanic this was a huge game changer!!
Milwaukee now has a mobile tool box with one large pullout drawer. No hand truck carrier needed.
I saw that totally jealous. I totally agree. No reason for this setup anymore. The single drawer on the bottom rolling box is exactly what I wanted.
I have 3 kids so I can confirm that I have had some issues pulling my tool out.
😂
Only thing Milwaukee is the storage unit 😅. Sure Milwaukee thought this one through
I often laugh myself that I have no Milwaukee tools, just Milwaukee storage. You should have seen the Milwaukee mechanics toolbox I used to have lol
Yeah these guys want to pay $500 for a Milwaukee pack out and they fill it with harbor freight shit and DeWalt I don't understand it.
@@roughroosterknifesharpenin5531 dewalt makes a better saw, its the 60v. Much better than the Milwaukee 18v.

That's what I was thinking, too.
The ol' homeowner box with the garage door on the bottom...
What's old is new again.
Except grandpas still exists, holds more, looks better, and may very well be cheaper or handed down. I cannot wait for the plastic gimmick wave to crash.. such a waste of time and money.
My carpenter father made me a wooden tool box in 1973 and I still use it every day at home. Thanks Dad!

This is basically the tool box I inherited from the 1920s but on a dolly made of plastic. The industry knows a cabinet on the bottom makes it easier, and drawers in the middle are helpful. Why did it start off as a bunch of stacked tubs in the first place with some tackle boxes on top?
Because if it already came with a good setup you wouldnt need to buy more stuff
Because they weren't sure it would sell. Then everyone bought it like hotcakes and they thought a little r&d would sell more and it did.
Because the stacked boxes was still better than carrying tool bags one by one, or Rubbermaid tubs
When I’m on a job I unstack everything. I’m not sure where this would come in handy unless you carry around a bunch of tools/supplies you aren’t using.
@@Avaddon911 Yeah that's what I'm thinking literally took him less then a minute to unstack most likely you are going grab one or 2 boxes for that specific job don't need to whole dolly with you
Im dewalt guy here but Milwaukee is way ahead of everyone with their stacking system
I hear ya there. I saw toughbuilt is releasing a bottom rolling box with a drawer in it this year along with some other nice drawers. I've seen a lot of RUclips videos on the toughbuilt and I must say it does look like a good competition. As of now I've never seen it in person.
5 years ago, yes. Every company has a stacking/modular system now and theyre all at the very least comparable in quality. Milwaukee is way ahead of everyone with branding
I totally agree.
Stanley had the first pack out like 15 years ago 😂 the real, long-term tradesmen have the big metal toolboxes
I bought the husky system and sold my pack out. Put $350 back in my pocket
Great solution man I already have the dolly set up . Always thought the dolly was more versatile and convenient than the box . 👍
@jrgv1566 Thanks. I defiantly like the extra storage it has. There are few things I wish they would fix on a gen2 but it does what's needed for now anyway. Glad your loving yours. Thanks for watching.
Awesome tips for tool optimization. Right now I'm running different configurations of backpacks, but the packout line is looking promising for the future. Loved the fact that you use different brands in unison, I've never understood the guys who have to have every tool from the same manufacturer.
Thank you. Yes, I like to get the best bang for my buck currently this system works well for me. Along with the tools that I have. Thanks for watching. Good luck with your setup.
Your tools are too clean you can't be tired of doing anything
Probably an electrician.😂
Looks more like a sales man to me :))
Lol. 3rd degree burn.
My thought too.
Some people take care of their good shit
Been doing that for about 10 years now. Thats the way the Dewalt boxes were originally sold with a Dewalt dolly that has adjustable arms enabling access to any box without removing the other boxes.
Those dolly's are still available as are rack mounts for trucks vans and shops. Great Idea but its not new.
I've seen those and loved it. I did notice that depending on what you have stacked where, they get a little tippy. My cousin has that setup. It was ultimately that setup that gave me the idea for this one as it's the best I could come up with for Milwaukee to not have to unstack to get to my saws every time.
@@tgltoday2717
So much better than the bottom box with fixed wheels and box attached.
Mine get tippy if I load more than 4 boxes high. I an getting a second dolly as they fold flat and can take 400 pounds, have large wheels set quite wide. I get my tools on site then use the dolly for moving sackcrete. Its been very good. Hope you enjoy your setup.
Also, the dolly can be used as a dolly
@@justinpolley2490 indeed. I'm not a fan of how it folds up though.
I love how a hand truck is called a dolly. 👎 A dolly has 4 wheels and maybe a removable handle. A hand truck has two wheels, a frame/handle and is designed to tilt back to enable transport. Two different tools for totally different purposes.
Same goes for leverage versus torque. Learn your language, people!
They realesed a wheeled drawer box this year, that is the true solution. Also a bigger problem is those dewalt tools in the milwaukee boxes, the makita gets a slight pass.
I saw that they just put showed that wheeled box on the pipeline. That is exactly what I wanted. I heard its not available until 2025 and its $250.
Subscribed as soon as i heard your intro. God bless you
Thank you. 😁
I feel like next year Milwaukee will come out with a rolling box with the front cabinet door. But they also need to make it in a way that the cabinet won’t get dirt and water inside while moving it through the job site
heck now that I did this, they will release that next month just to make me regret not waiting a little more lol I totally agree with you. I actually just thought about the fact that you won't want to leave this cabinet in the rain as my guess is it's not as water resistant as the rest.
Next year will be a rolling box with drawers. Year after that, ball bearing slides.
Toughbuilt is building a roller like that I believe later this year or next year
Yes, I saw a picture they plan to release later this year they said. A bottom rolling box with a big drawer.
Dewalt saw in the Milwaukee box , love it
Haha thanks
Why is this funny. Some people are absurdly tribal when it comes to tools. And honestly that’s sad. Even if there’s an argument for sticking to one battery platform, pack out is still the best travel system so you would expect most people to use it no matter what tools they have.
Dude this looks like Hard Work! 😮
😁
I have a wagon with rubber tires, they are never flat and I custom added a hard plastic type of lid that slides off the side. Perfect in every way and I can take my tools anywhere and I can haul them with my mower.
Nice setup.
This, even more than cost, is why I stuck with the Ridgid set. Undo the side latches and lift the whole stack off with the lid.
I love the rigid boxes. I've always said they're the best bang for your buck. I've actually got a couple and I plan on getting some of the drawers. I think the rigid drawers are built better than the packout ones, but shhh don't the packout people I said that 😁
What about all these box are stupid and useless
@@legros731 Your inability to _see_ any use for them has bearing on whether there _are_ uses for these boxes. Even the flaws, from my perspective, of Milwaukee's wheeled box design are, to others, benefits. I'm sure I could get used to it if I had a reason to, since on most job sites the only time I have other boxes stacked on top is at the beginning and end of each day.

Milwaukee knew what they were doing by releasing the two in order
Yes. I really hope they follow the trend and make us a bottom rolling box that has a drawer now.
Money to function ratio is off the charts. One big box that holds everything for $69.00. Thats value.
👍 very true.
They have a large top load single pullout drawer for the Packout system now. It's great to toss your large tools in for easy access.
Yeah I saw the announcement for the bottom rolling box that was one big drawer. I believe that's what you're talking about? That is exactly what I wanted so now I can't wait to see it in person.
@@tgltoday2717 Yea! That's the one I'm referring to. Can't wait to get my hands on a few of them.
That dolly is shit and everyone knows it. The fact that it doesn’t have a cable release for fold up basically makes it worthless. Milwaukee needs to make a Gen 2 and it would be a GREAT option. Or make rolling bases of different varieties.
I have noticed that I'm not a fan of the way the base folds at all. I just wish they would have made a rolling box that was a drawer.
Spend $1000 on organization when I can just "borrow" a shopping cart and have instant access to all my stuff.
😂 I can't argue with that.
That's the kinda thinking that makes people millionaires. I just need someone to motorize a shopping cart and setup a steering system, so I can bungie cord them together like a train. I'll be splitting lanes in rush hour traffic the whole way to work and back 🤠🤣

That dolly is the only packout item I've ever returned. Somehow super heavy and difficult to open/close (you need two hands and another limb). I've instead built a simple plywood base, added casters, and put a packout mounting plate on top. Now I can just roll drawer units around. And that rolling xl box is nice, solid, fits a lot of stuff.
I'm not at all the fan of how it folds up either. I'm really hoping they come out with a bottom rolling box. That's a big drawer, just like the one the Toughbuilt is going to be releasing this year.
Yea I hate opening/closing them . Literally need both hands and another arm
haha the struggle is real. I have no clue what Milwaukee was thinking with that.
Dewalt tools in Milwaukee boxes is crazy
I was looking at that as well it kinda hurt my soul a little

As a millwright having to pack this set up everywhere it’s a must
They just announced the bottom rolling box with a big drawer is going to be coming out. That is more of an ideal setup than using this dolly in my opinion. I'm a little disappointed I didn't wait a little bit longer before I bought it.

True story there. They don't make them like that anymore. Those guys grew up on farms and had 10 siblings and knew the true meaning of work.
Unfortunately, the dolly sucks. The wheels are to narrow / close together, go over some uneven terrain, the stack wants to tip over. Should have put the wheels on the outside.
After I bought it, I started reading some other people commenting on that. I'm defiantly hesitant on what I want to do now. Sprint is almost here and a lot of my time is on uneven terrain. Have you had any other issues with it? Any of the plastic break? I'm a little worried about that as well. I love the Packout, but there are a few items of theirs I have gripes with.
Had it for 2 years at least with extreme use still on the same set of tires and no plastic has broken even after extreme abuse though I wish the upright parts were aluminum@@tgltoday2717
That good to know how well it has held up for you. I saw a guy that easily moded it to put the wheels on the outside. I may look into that if I have issues down the road. Thanks for watching.
$300 Dolly isn't exactly a great deal...
That's a fact. Overpriced for sure. It's normally $229 by me and goes on sale for $199. Still overpriced imo.
Maybe not, but if you look at the price of a good quality dolly, it's about the same price

Now this is a great idea I'm not even a craftsman I work in IT but it's simple and it's practical
Thanks. They have 4 different size drawer boxes. You might be able to get away with just stacking some of them on the 4 wheeled dolly. I just need to be able to go through gravel and grass so I had to get the 2 wheeled dolly.
This is what I thought immediately when I first saw the packout debut--the bottom component has to be drawers or cabinet pretty much anything that doesn't open from the top. My current setup is 2-drawer then 3-drawer with any optional organizers on top. I also rigged a little something that unfolds and fits over any open cabinet that can be used as extra functional flat surface area. I'd love to add a cabinet but I don't have any toys worth putting in it yet lol. Good short vid
When are they going to lease the bottom rolling box that's one big drawer right? I'd love to have that and then the three drawer that you see in this video. Then that leaves me the top just like you said for whatever organizers with whatever I need at that time. You're flat unfolding cabinet thing sounds very interesting and handy. Thank you and thank you for watching.
That packout hasnt seen much use for him to be tired of anything.

I didn't even think about being able to attach things while laying down. That's actually pretty neat. Thanks for sharing!
The garage door box is AWESOME!!
I've come to like it a lot more than I was thinking I would. It really has a lot of uses.
As an electrician. I got the cart and run the 2 drawer, medium box and 2 half size organizers (one shallow and one deep) with my packout backpack.
I think the drawers are the best part if you don't need waterproofing. How do you like the backpack? I've heard mixed reviews on it.
My uncle has built houses for the past 30 years. He swears by Dewalt and has used their stuff for almost the entire time. Their batteries last a long time and the tools work great. Just wanted to give people an anecdote into how good some of the tools can be. For instance one battery on the Dewalt circular saw lasted through the entire first floor of a 2700 sq. Ft. Ranch style house. Still had a charge afterwards and that was an entire day of work.
I've talked to people that basically say the same thing you do about the DeWalt tools.
There's literally nothing I love more than playing with the bottom box 😂😎

Bro you got more invested in the tool boxes than the tools!
👍
Thought of this a while ago when I bought the 3 piece set initially as just some cheap storage in my garage while I was doing mobile mechanics work and it definitely worked but was so annoying unstacking everything everytime eventually sold it got a proper box and a smaller top chest for the bed of my truck when I do my mobile work and am eventually either gonna work up to a dedicated service truck with toolboxes or set up some packout boxes on a slider that can hold the weight so that I can have boxes at the back and not need to climb into the bed as long as I have space to slide it out
I like the idea of the service truck. It sounds like you have a pretty good thing going work wise, as much as I love the packout and the modularity of it, depending on how many tools you pack into them and if they are the drawers or what boxes, you may be better off with steel. I know sockets and all that really add up fast. When you get your rig set up, if you wanted to email me some pictures of it I'd love to see them. Trailer/truck builds I just love to see 😂 Good luck and thanks for watching.

😂👍
Was just thinking about this!
Worried about the weight difference, though, with the solid steel dolly - anyone have any info on the diff between the two setups, in terms of weight (and also just how it feels to roll)?
Unfortunately this dolly doesn't have much steel and the tire placement isn't ideal. If you are on uneven terrain I wouldn't recommend going with this dolly. It can be tippy when loaded. I did see someone made an aftermarket tire kit for it. My fingers are crossed Milwaukee will make a bottom roller that is a big drawer. That's ultimately what I want.
I think buddy is just flexing. 😂
😂
This is one of the many things people are already doing which is why no-one is talking about it.
👍
Good thing the new rolling packout is one big drawer
That's exactly what I wanted. I would have waited had I know for sure one was in the works.
Prefer the chest and one more on top. But I'm a painter. So my setup is simple. Keep all my tools in the bottom. All my drop cloths, tape and brushes/rollers top chest. Then the vacuum on top.
The new bottom rolling box that was just announced is what I really wanted. Ideally I'd have that on bottom. This one set of drawers on top and then depending on what I need for when I'm doing that day I can stack the rest. I found the crate to be very useful for half the stuff I use. Being able to just throw a bunch of oddball stuff in there. I think that sounds really nice having yours set up that way. And the fact that you don't need multiple boxes cuz you're using the same stuff everyday. I like it.
I didn't know they had a box that opened from the front, that's the main reason I haven't purchased one, because I'd have to break it down, regardless, so I just use separate boxes.
Good idea. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome. This was my best attempt at a bottom rolling box with one big drawer. I did decide the cabinet would be better suited on top the drawers since I don't believe it can handle as much weight on top of it.
when over priced tools compensates experience

Milwaukee this November is coming out with a rolling pack out full drawer that fits into truck beds with a flat cover, it’s as big as the current one but no unstacking, just pull out the drawer
I saw that and that's exactly what I wanted. I wish I would have been a little more patient a little bit longer lol

did my guy really just have a full Milwaukee tool box set and fill it with Dewalt?
There's one fastback in the drawer 😂
The problem with using the dolly is storing the dolly when you are not using it. I don't want to leave it in the back of my puck up bed. It will be easy for someone to take, and it will be exposed to the elements. I can easily load all of my stack into the cab of my truck, in the back seat area and it is secured as well as out of the elements.
No way that box only fits two skill saws 💀
No it can fit more. It's just all I put in it at the time.
Or you could use a normal tool cart or bucket or what have you like any other person. You got the matching designer Barbie tool set. You show up to a job site with that, and you'll get some looks, for sure.
👍
This is a solution for a problem that doesnt exist.
👍
I don't have this problem. I only use the stack when I move the tools from the shed to the truck and the truck to the work site. But I don't always take all of the tools out of the truck and into the house or building I am working on that day. No way will I haul in a bunch of tools and materials that I am not going to use on that particular job. That is why I have my multi-tool in one box, and my circular saw in another and my nailers in another, and my impact and drill in another. Just grab what you'll need and go. But if I need a few of those boxes, I may stack them on the bottom and roll them in.
Bro. That's why mechanics have tool carts. 😂😂😂😂😂
True story. I wouldn't think of loading a packout or any module box down with mechanics tools.
