I just got a Whitetail Maxx 2 days ago. First thing I noticed out of the box was the top limb bolt Allen key hole was stripped at the surface. Luckily, the hole is pretty deep and I was able to back out the draw weight. Second thing was when I set it to my drawlength and drew it back, and heard/felt a click. The bottom cam was leaning away from the cable that the drawstop peg hits. Only half the diameter of the cable was contacting the stop, so the stop would slide past the cable making the click. I fixed the factory screw-up by moving some of the cam shims so that the bow actually tuned. Furthermore, the shims between the top and bottom cams weren't even the same. I ended up making the left side shim thickness at both cams 7/32", and move the removed shims to the right side of the cams. This made the string plumb with the riser; perfectly set the arrow centershot exactly at 7/8" from the riser, and corrected the bottom cam lean so the drawstop peg made full contact with the cable. You guys couldn't have done this at the factory?
Update: I cut off the 4 string grubs on my string and installed real brass speed nocks with shrink tubing. I copied the pattern from my Bowtech RPM 360. This resulted in 50% less felt vibration and noise. Also increased arrow speed by a few FPS, as the grubs were heavy and slowed down the string.
The Whitetail Maxx is faster than the Alaskan XT. I'm shooting 385 grain Easton Axis arrows at 27" and 64# at 278 FPS. The Whitetail Maxx is also faster than my Bowtech Solution SS that's shooting a 360 grain arrow at 27" and 71# at 271 FPS on the Comfort setting.

Bear is getting my money with the paradigm! Been struggling to find something that fits for reasonable money

What I don't understand about Bear Archery is their illogical distribution system where you can mail order some bows, but others are pro shop only. In 2023 the Alaskan was pro shop only but the same bow Resurgence RTH was available online. The family-friendly affordable Legend XR was pro shop only, but the much more expensive upscale Escalate was available online. Furthermore, many shops didn't stock Bear's expensive top end Execute and you couldn't online order one, so it was impossible for me to buy one. Makes no sense. Would be nice if customers could online order from Dealers and from Bear. Just lower the ordering price $10-$20 from dealers and they would sell more bows in a combination of online and shop bows. Just about ALL products can be bought this way, but the archery industry is lagging behind. Bear's R&D, testing, engineering, and production are very good, but their marketing/distribution really, really sucks!

All bow companies have pro shop only bows it's not exclusive to bear

@@justine8012 But no other manufacturer implements their pro shop model in the ridiculously illogical way Bear does.

I ordered an Alaskan XT a week after I got the Whitetail Maxx. It should be here mid-February. I can't wait!

So I have been a longtime bear Archer.. and I shot a bear strike for 10 years. Was a single-cam mid-grade bow. But I killed like 25 whitetail with it. My father bought me a new Matthew's vx3.. string broke on first Buck that came out and major warranty drama. I shot the Alaskan last year and loved it. Going back to bear I just cannot believe how well they shoot right now. I never wanted the Matthews really and cannot wait to shoot this year's bear lineup. Matthew's vx3 was a gift and it does shoot well but there's something I feel like I'm missing not having my bear. I've had two really bad luck hunts with the Matthews and for some reason I just feel like I don't trust it.

Just throwing this out there. Bear, you should set-up a bow builder through your website like Mathews and Hoyt, I guarantee it would take off!
