NFPA 13D and the manufacturers dictate the maximum spacing between sprinklers. Some extended coverage residential heads cover a up to a 20’ x 20’ spacing.
Having sprinklers can actually reduce the cost of your insurance, and companies should offer the coverage that fits your needs, both for water and fire damage from any source. Regardless, the difference between which one ruins the most is pretty damn obvious. Things can dry but they can't unburn.
Also as a late reply that water from a sprinkler head won't become fatal for anyone who might be trapped in the home for whatever reason. An uncontained fire will. The FD can only get there so fast.
Unlike in film, only the sprinklers in the burning room activate. It makes sense - you want the majority of water going to fight the fire rather than flooding your home.
Wonderful video! Fires are burning hotter and faster every year (check out our latest video). Good to know that fire suppression technology works in tandem.
this is why i like my job as a sprinkler fitter. Its not a trade thats cosmetic
I bet you could feel the heat radiating through the wall in the sprinklered-room after the other room flashed over.

Can someone please rescue the poor teddy bear , at 50 seconds you have already proven your point, no need to let it burn completely !!!
there is, because the firefighters do not get there that fast...
Good demonstration for understanding.
How many sprinkler heads on the left?
We use to stop fires with a bucket of water all the time. But a sprinkler system is way better.
Our bucket is replaced by a garden hose. I recommend all house have garden a hose.
Knock on wood, being able to stop fires created new problems, we've accumulated too much stuffs....which is now a fire HAZARD.

That's very dangerous because if you throw a bucket of water over a fire it will burn fast into a bomb
+Lauren Fisher Only certain fires like a cooking grease fire.

@@howtowithelizabeth7513 not to mention
The fire hose from firefighters will make more water than a sprinkler.
On the left: Damaged curtain, trash can, needs to patch floor and chair.
At least not as bad as on the right.
