- You too can watch your GoPro underwater footage live using WiFi, quite simple really. Still in early stages of development and i am sure it can be improved.....but watch and see what you think

You're a legend! Thanks for being a great resource.
Absolutely brilliant! Thanks for sharing!
Love this. I made my own. With a few upgrades. Works amazing
Dude this is epic! Thank you soon much! Super helpful
great stuff. do you think this will work with one of the newer gopros that come with their own built in housing? (not the plastic case)
I don’t see why it wouldn’t work....but I don’t know
Great hack! Was looking for a way to check out potential new dive sites. Are you using the digitech adapter to boost the wifi signal? The go pro feed is displayed on the phone via wifi right? No problem with it being underwater? Thanks.
Feed is displayed on phone/tablet 👍 time will tell how long before corrosion ruins it ...
Great video, did use an app for cell phone
Unfortunately I only had the one GoPro and phone and was unable to show everything I wanted, hindsight I should have borrowed another camera to really show everything. GoPro app is good.
So some recommended upgrades. Solder joints, get 2 antennas and silicone one to the back of a gopro case (I use hero 8 and go pro app) silicone over joint's then heat shrink both in side core and outer sheath. Clear hose covering full coax cable. (I had to cut mine so I used silicone to plug the ends of the hose sections and used heat shrink to seal them a bit better. The antenna that connects to the phone I stripped back the plastic on it and put silicone over the exposed wire. This allows the antenna to slide between the phone and its case. I tried a live stream and ut held solid at 2500 kpa for over 10 mins. Next mod will be adding the antenna to a case that allows a battery pack to be connected and to that I will drill a hole and add a charging setup so the gopro can be charged and used vis external battery pack stored with the phone keeping the stream with enough power
Also the sealed hose will allow the cable and rope to float making diving with the setup much safer
That’s excellent ! Simple but I agree the improvements would definately help 👍
I'm confused. You used the cable for what purpose? To carry a signal? And what is the little box that connects to the GoPro case?
@sleasy01 so the coex cable will carry the wifi signal to the surface and then the 2 antennas will allow the go pro and phone to get each other's wifi signals. Allowing a live stream.
Post links in your description for equipment plz!
Is there any way to contact you, sir? This project is amazing.
Nice video! How deep can it go? Will it work with a 40m long SMA cable? I am not sure about the attenuation.
Sorry but I only use it in shallow water to 10m but I don’t see why not
@@fishernick2447 Awesome! Thanks!
7:19 He looks like Wayne Knight
How does this survive the saltwater? The adapter itself doesn't seem to be waterproof, nor does the duct-taped connection between that and the cable.
Not long even when rinsed, I havent used it that much to be honest but I did have to clean the wire before using
@@fishernick2447 clear hose and silicone. I also soldered the connections and silicone the antenna to the back of a go pro case
Have set this up the way you have suggested, testing in a bucket at home and wifi feed is lost as soon as the camera is fully submerged .... what am I doing wrong
I’m really not sure ... it works for me
Where do you find such a thing in US? Amazon did not have it....
Try eBay...

Would classic tv antenna cable work?
Yes that’s basically what I’m using 👍
Fisher nick i tried it today. Didnt work. Every video is saying RG174
which is an extremely common Coaxial cable type, typically used in GPS, WLAN, and cellular communications. The tv antenna cable I used did absolutely nothing with my gopro 5.
I just used the basic one off the shelf at Jaycar....which GoPro have you got ? Mine is a 4 though it shouldn’t matter. I found if it wasn’t right the signal was lost the moment it went into the water and then you can’t get it back whilst it was under water, however if the signal stayed it would be fine
Fisher nick update, finally got it to work today with the RG174 cable. Got down to 8 meters.
Fisher nick from watching this video, one of the comments mentioned that the RG6 cable works, thats what you had. ruclips.net/video/49K2hjV9OOY/видео.html
Here is a similar approach I used

I suggest using some paracord attached to the camera enclosure so you are NOT pulling on the cable.
Yes i connected it to the down rigger cable intermittently with snap swivels. Hardly use it though as its very cumbersome.
We never saw the phone screen lol
No it was a bit hard .... 👍
