Pattinson will be 40 when it's released. This is crazy when you consider we were supposed to be getting a younger Batman early in his career, yet Bale was 31, 34, and 38 respectively when his trilogy was released. Pattinson will already be older by part 2 of his trilogy!

Matt Reeves is notoriously known for working slow in comparison to James Gunn. It took Matt FIVE YEARS to get The Batman done 2017 to 2022 (covid lockdown included).
It looks like we are going down the same route with The Batman part 2.

Honestly , after seeing how James Gunn’s Superman movie has been getting so much updates more then the batman part 2 following conclusion of 2023’s WGA strike and SAG-AFTRA strike , I’m not at all surprised that The Batman part 2 got delayed by full year

@@JB-1138very much agree. There is a major problem here. Actors will move on to other projects. It sounds very disorganized and they did not plan ahead. Matt Reeves has been talking all these projects related to this new Batman world and nothing has happened. Will Robert Pattersonpull out? Won’t be shocked if he does.
I know some people may disagree. The latest Batman movie easily became my favorite movie for 2022 and 2023. I might sound crazy, but I've already seen it three times. I'm very disappointed that they won't be releasing the second one until 2026

Hearing this kind of gives me more respect for james gunn as a writer. After peacemaker he has written creature camandos, peacemaker season 2, and superman while being the creative head of dc studios. Granted he probably had more time to write considering peacemaker came out almost a year before the batman and idk when he started writing creature camandos and superman
James deserves credit. He's getting it done.
True Matt has admitted that he had a very slow writing process for the first film and I respect that but its been two years since that was released and im surprised he hasn't cooked up the second script yet.

We already been waiting for almost 2 years. They definitely will have to add some years on the batman after this. Damn near 5 years of waiting on a sequel.
Thanks for the reaction and the humor to take some of the sting off. This is rough! October 2025 seemed like a long time away...it's hard to conceive of waiting until October 2026. I was really looking forward to following the updates throughout the year, and I'm sure you were looking forward to having some concrete material to cover.
You're right though, hopefully this gives Reeves the time he needs to really polish the script and bring his vision to life.

It feels like we've been waiting so long already for even the most basic news, of which I was prepared to keep on waiting for shooting.. But there was some decent news on the horizon if it were to start shooting in the next several months or so. But now it might be a while longer... It just feels like going back to something like May last year haha. It is what it is though & the hype remains regardless, although a bit blue for the time being :P

Despite the unfortunate yet understandable delay, here's hoping Penguin still keeps the 2024 release date. That could tie us over and possibly foreshadow some events in Part II in the meantime at least.
It’s disappointing that we’ll go 4 1/2 years between Batman movies

There won't be any studio interference. DC isn't under WB Studios. Gunn has the final say in anything DC film related.
Really disappointed to hear that batman was delayed ,but as long as the batman two is as good as the batman im willing to wait plus, were getting the penguin show to hold us over.
To put a positive spin on it. Maybe they will start filming end of this year and it will be for part 2 and 3? With the long wait, they could have come up with a story that needed more than one film to tell. If we also get another miniseries during the wait, like Penguin season 2 perhaps. Then even better 😊
It’s also possible that they think it’ll be done earlier, but any dates after that conflict with other WB/DC projects as well as other Disney/Marvel projects too close to other dates. Yeah it’s BATMAN, but as much as I loved the first film, I still think this matters.😊
Yeah, too many factors. Booking stuff, conflicting schedules of professionals (Pattinson's involved in a lot of projects) and the release date has to be planned out, plus the marketing campaign. They don't call it "the movie industry" for nothing.
This is very disheartening. I had already put this film out of my mind just to avoid the torture of waiting. I’m 39 going on 40 Nov 30, so I’ll be 42 (if I’m even around because I’m in poor health). At least we have Joker 2, & the Penguin…

No…… What!! This is crazy and Matt Reeves is going to loose a lot of the audience. No one wants to hang on that long unless he is moving forward with The Penquin series, a potential Scarecrow movie, and other things attached to this world. I’m gutted too. And I’m 57 and a Batman lover since I was 10. I will be 60 when this is released. That’s bullshit.They will loose major actors in the movie trilogy. I actually think the movie is one and done. A delay of one year is not just about Matt Reeves moving at a glaciers pace. Matt Reeves has teased us enough. Until I hear something promising with a clear explanation why I’m moving on to other shows I enjoy.
Let's see, the Batman and Dune part 1 were released around the same time. And we've had Dune 2 made and released already. Meanwhile there isn't even a script for The Batman 2....

Michael Giacchino is taking a directing gig, Pattinson has other projects, Greg Fraiser as well and so on. If they want the same team/crew for Part II they need to align all those schedules which is not easy. So not having a script and going through the strikes messed everyone's agendas
What concerns me more is all the theories that Part 2 is going to be the end of the Reevesverse.This delay is making people start to think even more now that he is spending extra time on the script in order to make part 2 an epic finale because WB doesn't want this franchise competing with the DCU.

I hate the idea of no longer being able to have auteur driven standalone batman films once the DCU starts. If Part 2 is his last, I hope Reeves at least gets to pretty much do whatever he wants and push his particular vision to it's maximum potential.
Why did they have to have two going at once I am and will always be way more interested in the Reeve verse than anything James Gunn could be making

I'm of the mind that no matter what James Gunn might say publicly, if he had his druthers, The Batman universe would not exist. It's something he inherited, and because Reeves has some clout, he has to go along with it. Same with Joker 2. I'm not saying The Batman 2 will be cancelled , but I just think the longer it takes we're kind of playing with fire. At this point, it's more The Batman 3 that I'm worried about.

I wonder if an October release is related to/important for the story. I know Matt has taken a lot of inspiration from The Long Halloween and Dark Victory, maybe it won't take that long to finish the movue but it's more of a artistic choice to have it released during spooky season 🤔 (+ scheduling issues with actors, crew and such might be a reason)

One thing I don't understand with it all is... why wasn't the script finished before the strike? The film came out early March 2022. A sequel was in the works a month later. To take this into perspective, it usually takes 3 months for the first draft of a film to be written and a few months of rewrites after that for it to be totally complete and polished. It could've been done before the end of 2022. Gunn started writing the superman film in the summer of 2022 and had the script finished in like february-march 2023. The strikes aren't a valid enough reason for this delay. Every part of this film's production process has been slow as molasses and most announcements are just announcements of actors returning to reprise roles. The only real explanation is the few months of uncertainty of what was going on at DC at the end of 2022 with all of that Black Adam mess and Gunn taking over and maybe Reeves has been really really hands on with the production of the batman projects he's producing like The Penguin series, Batman Caped Crusader (which would be silly since it already has Bruce Timm and JJ Abrams) and the arkham series (which isn't even apart of Reeves universe anymore). Finish the script already! There's two writers working on it.
This is not a conspiracy. Like I said, while this is not part of Gunn's plan, I hate to say it: I fear it is quite likely for other reasons altogether that it will be canceled in what is frankly an immense run-up. Not conspiracy. I like Gunn. I like his Superman decisions. I believe Gunn values Matt Reeves, who is a great filmmaker. However, many films are canceled in pre-production. People often move on. Film production can be like herding cats. I imagine assembling a team for a huge meeting. Matt Reeves may lose his lead actor. This is TRAGIC because THE BATMAN is the best Batman film ever made. Yeah, I do believe that. The most well-written. The best car. The best performances from villains-I know how that sounds, but it was such a natural effort with the character truly evolving into someone who is a hero.
This was the video I was waiting for the second I heard this news. Can't lie, this was a massive bummer to hear. October 2026 feels so far away. Still really looking forward to this movie but if Superman turns out to be incredible maybe the wait wont be as bad.

Yes, i was sad for this but it makes sense, we haven't any info about the movie and the script wasn't finished because the Strike. Well, btw, this year is for The Penguin, and i can't wait for watch it.
We keep hearing about how The Batman is its own thing, but I think with every update it feels like it may not actually be that at all. Bruce and Clark have always been similar in age if not the same age and funnily enough in their current iterations, they're both at the same point/time of their lives. It's a comic book universe, why can't a serious 'real life' intrenched IP exist with the fantastical?

With this delay it makes you wonder how long it will take The Brave and the Bold to come out, and if there will even be The Batman Part 3? I’ve been saying all along they should just complete the trilogy, and film 2&3 at the same time! This would be a good opportunity to do so. I don’t think Gunn would want two different Batman movies(his and Reeves)released so close together. It may confuse the average movie goer, and they might get tired of watching another Batman movie so close together?

I’m 32 right now 😢. I totally forgot about the strikes. Bummed it got a big delay but I just have to have hope that it’s to make the best film possible. Part 1 was great so I’m sure it’s for the best.

As a lifetime Bond fan, I'm OK with the waiting game. I've waited 6 years for my boy James, 6 years between Spectre and No Time To Die, and it did not dissapoint. Not. One. Bit. The Batman Part 2 will also not dissapoint, I trust in Reeves, let him cook as long as he needs.
This to me is the best time to improve yourself and train like batman would for 2 years and grind use that frustration of the delay to boot your into your own dark knight 🦇

This is a good thing DCU need to get off the ground it only means it will be brilliant when it arrives. It will give them time to find and develop the DCU Batman they probs bring Brave and the bold forward to satisfy us hopefully
