As much respect as D-Dot deserves for his contribution to Kanye early career, the one person that I think Kanye would give that credit to is No I.D.
True
He don't give Dug Infinite as much props or Twilight Tone, and they helped as well. 😒💯
@@omardavis1622 I mean yeah you’re right it’s a lot of people that contributed to Kanye’s success and he didn’t give them enough credit but they probably didn’t do as much as No I.D. did to get Kanye to superstardom.
Absolutely!! No I.D. my mentor let the story begin 🥶
That’s a fact
'TELL'EM WHY U MAD SON' ..
The good ol days 🤣🤣🤣
😅right
He the mad producer now 😂
I absolutely love D-Dot's take on the Producer vs Beatmaker conversation !
Its the truth and these 'so called' heads disregard it all the time
The difference is kanye gives everybody their credits
Literally everyone 😅 artist would be mad
Now
I BOUGHT the Madd Rapper Album, Kanye was credited on all 7 of his records.
This like one of Jordan’s early veteran teammates saying “He running round calling himself the GOAT but i taught him how to practice!”. Like come on bro people supposed to learn from elders. That’s the point of elders.
No, D Dot said Kanye IS the goat and he was happy to tech him how to practice.
“No ID my mentor, now let the story begin”
"begin" not again. By the way, Ye never brought up Dion's name till Dion got HIMSELF on Def Jam!
my bad was a typo@@bruceleeds7988
The last part at the end D Dot could've worded that a little better ijs
I don’t believe this. Kanye is known as a levelheaded man, full of humility, who never makes it about himself or disrespects others for no apparent reason. 😂
😆😆😆
I know right!!! Not My Kanye 😂😂😂😂
*How dare he besmurch Kanye's name! 🤣😂😂🤣*
HE'S DEFINITELY SPEAKING THE TRUTH.
😂😂😂😂
He, should of said, all this in the MAD RAPPER VOICE! IT WOULD OF BEEN GOLDEN!
Word
That shit would have gone viral!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Those two tracks that bookend this segment are 🔥🔥🔥 I need to hear those full tracks, Math.
Nah
The basketball analogy didn’t work because Kanye went and got rings without D Dot.
you ain't hear him when he said he was Dean Smith to Jordan. Basically his first REAL COACH
Everybody misses the "Old Kanye" by that they mean Ye and Jay. The analogy stands.
It worked. You just didn’t comprehend it. 😂
brady won 7 super bowls with belichick? nah brady won a super bowl immediately without belichick. belichick as a head coach ain't won nothing without brady. hows belichick doing now? 5 grown men listening and not correcting this nonsense?
You lack comprehension.
One of the best interviews
Awaiting the Kanye Rant now.....😂
"Papa was there " damn D Dot wasn't playing but kept it 💯
😂 that was a def shot
One of his nicknames is Papa Dot.
WOOOOOW! Definitely going to roll back the videos you all dropped with him since i always wonder about D Dot from a production stand point.
Black Rob's lyrics stay... WHOA. What D-DOT did with Life Story 2... CRAZY.
DROP DAT WHOLE THANG MB MATH
"Why you mad, son?"
Ye pretty much always credits all the people involved in the production process..
Exactly
What ye does not do is tell the first producer that 50 other guys will be working on their shit. That's why Toomp and Hit Boy don't work with him
@@bruceleeds7988Well that’s what D dot said he did. Kanye give a best and he take it and finish it
@@bruceleeds7988yeah I think him and young chop fell out over that as well
D DOT GOOD BUT HE CANNOT FUCK WIT KANYE WEST... MASE ALBUM WAS 🔥🔥🔥🔥BIG ALBUMS WAS 🔥🔥🔥🔥 BUT NAH BRO KANYE CAME THRU FOR REAL FOR REAL...
check the facts, Kanye ain't produce BIG records as Hypnotize, All about the benjamins, Feel so Good, and Been around the World. Those records still getting airplay 25 odd years later!
@ChicagoStyles23 BIG PUFF AND BAD BOY RECORDS ARE ICONIC BUT KANYE BIRTHED A NATION OF RAPPERS AND PRODUCERS... AND HIS OWN CLASSIC ALBUMS HES SUPER LEGENDARY... D. DOT COOL THO HIS SHIT LAST BECAUSE WHO HE WAS WITH ONLY
He was playing checkers, while Kanye playing chess,
I think the issue is that Kanye became part of the defining sound of the next generation while their light fizzled out. Had he stayed with the Hitmen Dot and Co could have claimed that heat as part of their legacy.
Chess with Nazis and plastic surgeons
You can learn a lot from D-Dot about the music business. Props to him for teaching Kanye West early on.
Tell em why you mad son!
Salute my brother 🙏🏾 💯
Yes I Dont Agree!!! If Kanye Made The Beat Then He Produced The Music, So He Is a Producer On The Project.. Just Because A Person Sit Back Without Putting A Finger On Anything And Telling A Person Oh this Sounds Better, Yeah You Helped But The Beat Maker Was More Important Producer Then you Telling The Rapper To Do it this way or that way!!!! At the end of the day most people Get the vibe as soon as the track start and thats because the beat is Hot!!! as a writer you can't write to BS the music has to grab you as a artist for you to get inspired and without that beat that won't happened!!! So I disagree, Now u should of been the co producer on the project if you didnt make the beat or wrote the rap, just directing things.. then thats Co Producing
Great point about first impressions. The beat provides the vibe and canvas.
@@grinchoi1Exaclty, but these "producers" are trying to belittle beat making 🤣
That's like saying a guitarist doing a riff is a producer because they laid down the riff. No. A beat maker is just laying down instrumentals. A producer arranges the Music.
You know as a producer he can scrap your beat , and add something similar, add different drums , add musicians. Boom , now it's pretty much a new beat , with different production. 💯 🙄😒
@@christianjames92 nope you can't compare a guitarist to a beatmaker. A beatmaker creates the beat(drums, instruments etc), arranges it to a degree and sends it out..That is apart of producing..The next part of producing is directing the artist to make a track and adding any finishing touches.
Grumpy old ninja. At some point you just got to be happy to see your protoge reach their full potential. Its not like Dot wasn't accomplished and needed that recognition.
What interview were you watching???? He gave Kanye his props and also stated that Kanye was gifted. His gripe is about the narrative
@lm7913 people love these celebrities so much 🙄 it's sad the man is telling his story

actual ghost producing is when you slide a decent size bag to a person and they go away and never speak on it. it trips me out that these things always come up. anyways, d dot didnt say anything wrong in either of these last 2 segments. in regards to crediting alot of the shit had nothing to do with the actual producers, it was more on the admin side , the label or whoever was in charge made decisions to put the "bigger name" on the credits or it was just an actual mistake, can't keep track of multiple ppl working on multiple songs for multiple artists on multiple albums and not expect the "clerical" mistake to not ever occur
Alchemist was Muggs assistant on the creation of Temple Of Boom. He never tripped when he received no credits for working on the album because he trusted Muggs would place him in the right situation.
Kanye is on another level, stop this yall.
Dre had a team, and some have spoken on it😂
Dr Dre did that to answer your question Math taking beat from other producers and getting the credit 💯

This D Dot interview is legend.
I heard it was really daz behind the chronic and doggystyle.
But Dre got all the credit
Heard it was like Dre was the master engineer
I heard daz was dr Dre’s 1st student that Dre and warren g taught daz everything he knows about producing and because after Dre left death row in 96 daz couldn’t daz was never the same. Dogg father necessary ruffness damn near everything daz did without Dre after 96 flopped pretty much same with Mel man
Chronic no. Doggystyle- You are 200% correct.
Not true ! He contributed to both projects. That’s Dre sound
U heard wrong
Gotta respect D Dot for giving insight on how to be a real producer
I want to be mad at D-Dot but I can’t. It’s like Tommy speaking on Kevin.
Kanye does the same thing now😂
No he doesn't he gives it to all who worked on his projects ironically

Black Rob Life Story 2
He sounds heavily biased and sounds entitled but tryna brush it off like he’s cool with it. It’s been KNOWN that Ye collaborates with many other producers and instrumentalist. Dude is literally one of the few icons in the game that gives everyone their credit. This brother sound hurt and since he’s basically insinuating he made Ye, why you ain’t make another ??
"Ye works with other producers" Ye got his blueprint from The Hitmen: D. Dot, Stevie J, Amen Ra, Nashiem, 6 July. Ye is another D. Dot!!
Dude appears mad salty
This the clown that said he has a better catalogue then j dilla 🤦🏽♂️
What has Dilla produced that was better than his records? Chart wise as well? I’m curious.
Nikka there’s video on RUclips breaking down how J dilla produced because he brought something totally different. Gtfoh you obviously you don’t know hip hop. Sorry. Not sorry. This d dot sounds like a scorned woman lol.

Da Mad Producer (TELLEM WHY YOU MAD SON)
Sometimes I feel like people try to take advantage of you to get clout when they know you're in a bad space. And that's what I feel like DDOT was doing on this clip to Kanye. No Doubt Kanye owes folks credit for helping him get into the business. He always talks about how DDOT, no ID and Talib Kweli helped him a bunch. I think dude is just trying to use Kanye's name to give himself more relevance in today's music scene. Kanye might be half crazy but you can never question if that man is damn near a creative genius, if not a creative genius. And when you're at the level that Kanye is at, not one person gave you what's in your brain. God gave him that in those other dudes I just named help him expand on the gift that he was blessed with. DDOT was trying to make it sound like he taught Kanye everything. Come on bro, the internet has made people who have no relevance these days want to come out and prove their relevance. I'm from that generation but I just feel like dude is a little disingenuous.... everybody want credit for something, 😮 heck let your work speak for itself and let your work give you your credit. That's what I do 💯😊 and did anybody notice he's talking about new music he has coming out with Black Rob😒🥴🤣🤣 Just plug ya shit...don't use Ye to do it💯
Make sure Black Rob family get 50% you split 40 and others get 10%
Or how about.... Everybody get outs of it by the work they put in? Business, not charity.
Brother just said that's not happening. "I'm not a charity", and one thing I know about D. Dot, he's going to stand on that.
My shit been John Blaze!!
Unc gotta let that hurt go
At least I didn't have to hear that "single again" track this time...lol
Dude went from Mad Rapper to Mad Producer 😩
"He never gave me the respect and the props that i deserve for where he's at!"
The way he saying it has the air of "I made Kanye". Mind you Kanye has never been shy about saying the names of people who helped him on his come up. Dame, Beans, Hov, No ID, Blaze, Cam, JB, Hip-Hop, etc...hell he even mentions D Dot! Kanye literally told us that's how he got into the game, ghost producing. So you feel a way because he don't give you the props YOU think you deserve? When we think of his mentors we don't even think of you dawg! We think of No ID, you think you deserve more credit than No ID?
This the type of thing where a dude think you owe him you entire success cuz he gave you some advice back in the day.
OK so name THREE songs Kanye produced that he never got credit for
d dot is salty. He tried to hide kanye in the background ghost producing for him. and kanye made it out of there and is bigger than d dot ever was.
Religiously Dope‼️
I hate working with artists and producers who doesn't properly enter everyone's credits and split but that why i register all of my own shit Salute #Hoffa 💪🏾☑️
If you not around to direct or control , how your track is being made. You're not a producer. You know how many engineers need production credits ,but don't. 😂
@@seanyoung9014 you need to be there to control your shit #Simple A lot engineer co produced a lot shit too.
Facts i tell everybody in the room, don't wait on nobody! Check your own shit!
Shaq and Kobe will existed without the coach .. Shaq won again as soon as he left the Lakers😂
Rick Fox was there too though!!
Nope, a beatmaker knows how to direct too...A beatmaker in his house making beats knows how he wants the rapper to sound on it.. So when he or she gets in the studio they'd know how to tell the artist to make the track sound good. Producers were beatmakers at one point BEFORE they got with an artist. So where would the producer get the skills to direct?..They had those skills as a beatmaker and when opportunity arises they get to display and harness those skills.
This is a FACT!!!! Any beatsmith will say the same shit.
Don't forget... 'Ye had artists under him in Chicago. He worked with other artists and producers before. What Kanye said, if I'm not mistaken, was he was too starstruck to tell Jay he wanted the braggadocious Jay not the more introspective Jay. Ended up being for the better.
@@seanyoung9014 Remember there are beatmakers like kanye who could rap on there own beats and knew how they wanted it to sound..So that is why they'd be able to direct. Some beatmakers just make beats and don't know where the cadence or flow should go or cant feel the vibe but thats very few..Why? Because to make a beat you have to catch a vibe.
The Madd Producer
If their doing that their their not a beat maker their producing
I hate this conversation of producer and beat makers because there’s all different levels of producing
said im just big and loud!!! yoo Hanz bodied that verse
That basketball analogy was really bad man
This guy can't create anything from scratch. We've seen Kanye create songs, beats, give directions and all of that on camera. I have never seen this guy do this. He's selectively saying things. Reminder, this guy has not made a beat from scratch. He's claiming the same songs as Puffy. D-Dot is a Puffy type producer. Kanye is the Goat. Kanye's Dean Smith is NO ID. D-Dot is cap
I'm a huge Kanye fan, and i never heard that he ghost produced for D-Dot Angelettie. Was this actually a narrative? Did i miss it?
Hold up is this the voice of the mad rapper?!
The proper term would be composed by
Exactly!
I tell people that all the time.
Jordan couldn’t do it without the team and Phil Jackson coaching.
Get it right people.
Just like you made them tracks make some more...
So what he’s saying is that producers made beats bad boy artists and he added something to it and saying it’s his sound. I get it now.
No, what he is saying is that the Hitmen were a group of PRODUCERS that opened up doors for aspiring producers.
Sha Money did the EXACT same thing for G Unit. He launched XL Management and provided hundreds of placements for bedroom beat makers. Don't believe me? top of the head who made the I Get Money beat?
No Dis But Yall Are Askin Questions Entirely Too Quik Instead Of Lettin D.Dots Answer SINK IN !!!

Not the Papa was a rolling stone bar 😂. Because obviously that's the record Kanye ghost produced for Nas.
Connoisseurs know Mike Dean not need any shine that man is in his own lane + million others
So then why is Mike Dean dissing Bink and trying to take full credit for New Dress? FOH
Maybe I'm dumb but shouldnt be the guy who actually made the beat seen higher as the engineer or Producer who learned that shit school
Beat maker make the beats. Producers put the song together
Everyone who contributed to the song or project should get proper credit. I think the beat maker should probably get lil bit more of the credit because they actually did most of the hard work. The producer unless they made the beat just works with the artist and help guide the song to how it should sound. I see both sides arguments but it always seems like D-Dot makes it seems like he made Kanye and that’s where Kanye gets angry with D-Dot
No. If you have no direction. If that's the case, you don't need nobody. Unless you tell the engineer who pretty much like the musician , and the rapper, singer etc... how to say or perform what , where the drops suppose to be , add this , take this out. You just made the beat. Also a producer ,could scrap most of your beat , have the engineer add new drums, add musicians on it , and the track sound like something else... Where the only thing you notice , is the loop. 😂
@@omardavis1622 the engineer takes care of the recording and takes directions from the producer. Unless you have a producer who has some engineering experience

And let’s be clear… I understand the difference between a beat maker and a producer but the average person consuming music only cares about the artist and who flipped the sample and made that dope beat. It is what it is…. You got paid to ad your input, tighten it up and make it sound good and that’s a good thing
Kanye a genius D dot
D.Dot sitting there criticizing Kanye when he and Coombs both stole people's credit and royalties for producing while at Bad Boy according to the book by Ronin Ro called Bad Boy: The Influence of Sean Puffy Coombs...
👽….i really need explanation cuz according to D-Dot if u just make the beat & that’s it but the artist actually produce/arrange they own song how does the beat maker get paid out of an artist royalties as a producer???
The Beat maker gets paid musician royalties ie Scott Storch for Dre. But what if there are samples? then they get less, or NOTHING!! That's why beat makers fight hard to get paid thousands of dollars upfront for their beats.
@@bruceleeds7988 Naw bruh I get that part…I’m asking about after the beat is done & the artist pays for the beat & writes & arranges the song themselves…how/why does the beat maker continue to get paid 3% quarterly (sometimes/most times more) IF they weren’t apart of the actual PRODUCTION of the song in the studio which was done by the ARTIST??
