Really nice video, this makes me want to try BG3 now!
I have one question though (and sorry for this question but I'm a newbie with pc gaming), if in the future we'll continue to have all these updates, is it going to upgrade the performance on Deck more and more?

Hi Mart 👋🏻 thank you! 😊 BG3 is such a great game. I can definitely recommend it. Valve keeps optimizing Steam OS very consistently and it keeps getting better. Big kudos to valve for keep taking care of their products. This update made changes to the graphic drivers and how the cpu is utilized so it gave the deck a nice performance boost. I wouldn’t expect big performance boosts all the time but valve is very devoted in keeping the deck updated and that it can run newly released titles. 😎

@@SamDansCouch The more the software gets mature, the less big performance upgrades we can expect, but there will always be some improvements, but as time goes on, the improvements are likely to become smaller as the entire stack of software from SteamOS, drivers and Proton becomes more mature.
But it will be interesting to see how much more Valve can squeeze out of the Deck until the Deck 2 is released.
As for performance optimisations, if games were optimised in a way like we see on consoles, there would be a lot more room for extra performance, but I suspect very few if any developers would optimise like that, but who knows with the Deck 2 or 3, if they become a lot more popular, many developers might have optimised routings that target the specific hardware like you get on consoles, but the sales numbers of the Steam Deck would have to be much higher than they are now for that to happen.

I used a command to activate raytracing in cyberpunk, only option that hit 30fps was raytraced local shadows

Hi King Vulpes! That is cool that you got it working. I can imagine it being very heavy though. Control suffered a lot with ray tracing on as well. But it is cool to have the option if there are games that have a lighter use of ray tracing.
