My laptop had win 8.1 original installed but then someone at home removed it and installed win 7 ultimate. I want to install win 8.1 again. Can you tell me how can I get the product key for my original 8.1 win so that I can activate it.
1stepatatime that's what I want to know because the laptop has very less info on it and I don't have any paperwork that shows cuz laptops have hardly any info written about windows. Will it be possible to find out after calling the manufacturer i e acer. Plz tell
+sharmila sharma the problem is that manufacturers are buying Windows OEM keys, so unless they have a way of matching the chassis with the key installed, then I'm afraid you'll have to purchase a new key.
Mine doesn't even open as a black screen. It doesn't open and done.

Tell the person that installed win 7 ultimate to give you the money to get win 8.1 so you can install it.
