  • Managed to get myself a fappishly good s1000rr for the weekend and took it down to Barcelona for some lappage with a mate who sadly lost his leg before Christmas.
    Makes you think about some of the excuses we have for not riding - well done mate, i'm proud of you.

    So apart from the leg bit at the start - this video is mainly just laps as i know a lot of you like watching it and its kinda hypnotic and relaxing?! Anyway, big love to Ollie.

      What an inspiration he is, and you mate! Great vid, love what you do. And just so you know, your vids are the reason I'm riding bikes today, six or so years after I first discovered your channel and decided to do my DAS. Best decision I ever made.

      Fantastic video Chris and Ollie, love watching these full lap vids. I know it's a very personal thing but is there anywhere we can find out more about Ollie and his setup that allows him to get back on the bike ? Got a friend in a very similar situation considering getting back on the bike. Good job lads!

    As a rider with leg/foot disabilities I would very much appreciate learning more about how your mate gets along so swimmingly on his sportbike with just his one leg. With severe and progressive nerve damage in both of my legs I have lost the ability to have any flexion (gas pedal) movement in either foot. It has made riding a challenge and I found your video inspirational. Cheers!

    Mate of mine who I raced with back in the early 2000's lost his leg below the knee in a race incident, and he too got back on the bike. He put a bolt through his right peg, drilled a hole through his race boot, and used the bolt/hole combination to keep his foot on the peg. Worked surprisingly well.

    • @TheDemitirus
      @TheDemitirus 5 лет назад

    • @westers1514
      @westers1514 5 лет назад +1

      Dunno, he never crashed. To be fair, he wasn't bolted on as such; the end of the bolt slipped into the hole he had in the bottom of his boot, so it wasn't a permanent connection, but I get your point

    Huge respect to Ollie. I hope I'm never in his situation, because he seems to be handling it way better than I think I ever could.
    And also huge respect to the BMW engineers for building the best stock bike available. I'm trying to get on one for next race season. I might have to settle for a 2015 that's sitting in a warehouse right now. If I'll even be allowed to race that.

  • @Aint1S
    @Aint1S 5 лет назад

    He's Ollie over you 🤣 👍🏼
    Dude's fast, good thing he had his third leg in his boot to weight it down!
    Seriously though, I have the utmost respect for amputees riding like savages! In fact, I sold my KX450 to an elderly gentleman who was a left foot amputee for the payoff amount and I paid off the free scheduled maintenance insurance for the bike. Great deal for him, but I had to get rid of it because I was flipped 4 times in my Jeep as well as a herniated disc in my lower back... All because an illegal ran his red light! Kept hurting my back and it wouldn't heal, sold it to try and about surgery that may not have fixed the disc.
    The guy was tearing the woods up on a YZ 250 smoker with his own turned down shifter extension from his lathe.
    His only problem was kick-starting in deep mud and he wanted the electric starter to help him out.
    Keep'sm coming... If you want, no pressure bro!

    Saw one guy fixate his legs with two strong magnets (like 40kg ones). That probably works better than long springs? But he was paralysed and didn’t use his legs at all.
    Probably a platform with a strong magnet that allows him to move his toes (instead of the footpeg) and one on the lever.
    Steel plates under the boot (heel and toes) and done.

    He goes so fast because he's saving weight with one less leg. Jokes aside, massive props to him, what a trooper.

    He might be part of a leg short but if he just makes sure to sling those big balls over the right of the seat for 50:50 weight distribution jobs a good one haha👍🏻 this video was awesome!!! Thanks BVG
