I have been a Fold user since the 2nd generation and switched to the Oneplus Open last year. I am now switching back to the Samsung. Why? First and foremost: the Software. Software is King. The experience is just more polished and smooth on the Samsung compared to the Openplus. There are many subtle things, that make the experience on the Samsung just better.. I was also fooled by the screen brightness numbers of the Openplus. When compared in real life, the Fold was as good or even brighter on the outside screen than the Openplus, even though the marketing suggested otherwise. Samsung is generally very conservative with their marketing and just build a really solid product. Also the wider outer display did not convince me after all. If I want to write,I use the inside screen. Outside is meant for checking messages quickly and it is much nicer to hold than the wider Oneplus.
💯%, people tend to forget that Software is the most important core for daily usability than specs and esthetics. I too was gonna try something new as a fold, but after playing with the one plus , I'm not happy with it, I'll stick with my 4 or might even upgrade to 6, still un-decided😋
I've waited a couple generations, the slightly wider and square front screen was enough for me to go for it this year.

samsung should have done 8"screen inside of Fold 6.
I totally agree. If Vivo, Honor, and Xiaomi can make 8" foldable's, there should be no reason why Samsung cannot. Samsung needs to be more customer centric phone manufacturer.

What we got ... a redifined Z Fold 5 .. not impressed.
There is no mention of spen compatibility with the outer screen and again having the bother of storing the spen in a not included protective case. Regarding the redesigned speaker ports I take it the sound will stay the same as before, unlike other brands that have an upgraded quad speaker system. Same camera tech as last year, so no technical innovation there except for computational algorithms that will trickle down to the fold 5. Watching the Samsung event live, I knew most things were going to stay the same as last years model. They went from telling us about the new screen technology to boasting about how Google Gemini was going to be baked into UI 6.1.1. Lacklustre update offering little but charging us a lot. They should have just replayed last year's event using Gemini to edit in the miniscule set of physical & technical improvements. This would have been a better test of Gemini's AI strengths instead of creating a 3D picture of a doe eyed beauty. This event was a total waste of my time that promised a lot and delivered a whole lot of meh & the only person who will be happy at this will be my bank manager!
I'm I'm coming from the fold five 1 TB. It looks like with all the incentives it's about $700 and some change to upgrade to the fold 6 1 TB. As like everyone out there we've all been chomping at the bit waiting to see what Samsung would do this year. Will my current larger s pen work with the fold 6? That is super important to me.. I'm really torn like a lot of other people out there. Samsung really didn't make a lot of changes. Well they didn't make the changes that everyone was really hoping for like a much wider front screen. Then I'm also hearing that through software updates the fold five and other top of the line Galaxy phones will get most or all of the software changes they said by the end of the year. I was all ready to pull the trigger on Samsung's website, but this is the first year I held off. Then they're teasing us with this fold ultra. But if that doesn't have S-Pen support that's a no-go for me unfortunately. I'm super unhappy with Samsung at the moment. And I am a huge Samsung person. Appliances TVs phones and other stuff. They let me down today

I have a Fold 4 and like you said the phone is getting those AI features as well. I already have live translate, in app translation, etc... I'm not seeing a reason to upgrade from Fold 4. I wouldn't want to upgrade at all if I had a Fold 5.
The rumored fold ultra is planned for Korea and China apparently.
Inquiring minds want to know....would Saki trade in a Fold 5 for the 6?
@@tunesdonebyone3428 It was a tough call this year to move from the five to the six. I do like the new squared off design a lot more than the round. Even though the phone is only 1 mm wider, with the smaller bezel also, I think the screen is going to seem larger than The five. At this point any wider is better. I absolutely love the fold 5.i could never go back to a regular phone. I love being able to have that large screen. I use it for work every day with the spen. So when if they come out with the slim with a bigger screen and better cameras , but without the spen, unfortunately it would be a deal breaker for me.
Samsung needs to get through act together, start talking to the American public of what they want.

The free Samsung Care+ for 1 year only applies if you buy carrier models. If you buy unlocked, it doesn't apply. The carriers are probably subsidizing the deal.

S24 Ultra has spoiled me with the anti-glare coating ~ this Fold should have had that on at least the exterior screen.
Coming from a fold 5 1 TB. I'm using the large s pen currently.
my concern is the hinge. I had a Z Fold 3 and inner display stopped working properly after 2 years. It took it to a Samsung repair store and the technician said that the hinge is the problem. He sees many problems on the Fold. The hinge doesn't last that long when you open & close so many times. I miss my Fold 3, and I'm disappointed that the built quality doesn't last long. I'm scare to get another Fold phone in future.
Im still disappointed that samsung still didn't add a s pen to it and didn't give it a better camera system. I do like the boxy design, and the hinge showing less and the curve edges are gone

I wouldn't upgrade from the fold 5 either. I have the fold 4 and thought the same thing about the fold 5 when it came out. It hasn't changed enough. I ordered the white fold 6 from Samsung, but I switched carriers and basically got the phone for free because t mobile is giving me $800 to switch. Hopefully next year they will give us what we want.

2000$ and the Spen still doesn't work on the outside screen, and still isn't dockable within/on the phone itself...Definitely many slight improvements, but not enough for the asking price. Think I'm gonna stick with my ZFold 4 another year, alongside a OnePlus 12, when I crave speed lol.

Samsung's website is so bait and switch. I hope they know that the feeling the consumer gets when they navigate their website and the 1TB goes from 800 to 1200. Still, I do not think it is worth the upgrade. I have a zfold 4 and a zfold 5, one personal and 1 for business. It is a facelift for the most part TBH.

Samsung is skimming on serious upgrades to their folds. The Chinese manufacturers like Vivo and Huawei are far ahead hardware wise and huge in design but lack in UI unfortunately. Samsung has become the new Apple releasing same devices. I will stick with my Z fold 5 and wait for all them AI features once 6.1.1 drops for that device. Fold 6 is a waste of money
It's a waste of money upgrading from the fold 4 to the fold 6 as well.
It’s only a year difference so not much will change. The phone is aimed for people with much older phones because for them, it’s a huge upgrade.
They are falling further and further behind. They use to give us customers everything. See Note 20 Ultra. S-Pen, Head phones, USB C cable, Expandable SD slot, Fast Charger. Now we get nothing. They have even stopped listening. Like we care about AI. Joke. Chinese companies and Apple a killing them.

Honor v3, One Plus Open, and Pixel Fold 2 all are better!! I'm sick of Samsung not listening to it's customers!!! I've owned every fold and S series... Why didn't they make the front screen wider in reality... Also another $100 but last year cameras? Where's the price increase besides stealing fron your customers. Moving to Pixel or OPO2

Most reason is when friends (or owners themselves) close the mobile by pushing directly on the middle of the screen. Always has to be closed with pressure just on the hinge. Then it works more than 100000 opening/closings

I ordered the white one. Unrelated: Why do they still measure screens in inches instead of area? The same corner to corner length can yield very different screen size depending on aspect ratio.

After the Honor Magic V2 hit the market I was really hoping Samsung was going to bring their A-Game with the Fold6 to try to prove their dominance, but I see it's just business as usual, sad to see that. Maybe if the V2 officially came out in the US they would've felt threatened enough to actually innovate. Maybe next year with the Fold7 they'll get off their arse & bring some 🔥& I can finally upgrade my S21 Ultra, or maybe just maybe what I was looking for may show up later this year with the rumored Fold6 Ultra? 🤔🙏

SPen not in chassis is a let down..have ZFold5 and buying another sPen case extra $100 for ZFold6 is a bummer. Does SPen work now on the cover screen? Not really enough features for me to upgrade to ZFold6 coming from ZFold5 to be honest. AI is meh, feels like a gimmick and this is from someone that uses ChatFPT and CoPilot a lot on my work.
