Been there as well, takes awhile for it to sink in.... rebuilt it and learnt a lot in the process.

@@DEMOP_VW_GARAGE uhm in Damon/Dave's defense the 1st time the engine let loose was a known factory defect. It was a matter of time on when and where it would happen. 2nd time the car was nailed from another driver

I feel your pain Freddy! My "built" supercharged Viper did something similar with just 3,000 miles after I paid a pro shop to build me a 1000 plus HP block. Also, I'm keeping my 12C stock for this very reason, but stock engines can still pop.
Well, what do you expect? Nothing beats factory horse power. The "professional shop" was Dodge and they're not great.
Sorry, Jeff. “Nothing beats factory”?? You’re just wrong. Factory builds to a price. No matter who builds it, sh*t happens. But an indy shop has the potential to offer much better engineering and performance than your lauded factory. Squeeze to the limits of the base technology and the odds start going up against you. And Bless the factory, as they are the font, but they are NOT the end-all be-all. There are tens of thousands of builds on the road of all kinds of cars to refute your claim.

Is it even a viper when you basically rip out and change it's guts out ? It's just a car with the viper frame at that point. I love how the average Joe aka pro shop or whoever thinks they know more than the engineers who designed the freaking engine lol

I've had that exact same curse for 40yrs, of installing unrelated improvements and for no reason, the engine or transmission does an unscheduled disassemble. It can't just break a little. No, it's gotta go full "Ade Edmondson" on itself. {0.o}

Grenaded my '76 TA when I was 16 & racing a Mustang 5.0, and my twin turbo'd G35 a couple years ago when I was 46...so if you can keep it to only one every 30 years I feel like that's a win...lol. We do stuff to cars in a weekend that manufacturers spend months and thousands of dollars troubleshooting and fitting. Stuffs bound to happen and we learn as much from the bad as the good. Keep ya head up and remember to love the work and the creativity, not just the end product. We love ya man. Looking forward to the teardown.
Sorry about your blown motor mate. I think there might have been some preexisting issues that were not noticeable prior to your rebuild. Now you have a chance to make the bloody thing better, and faster. Good luck the second time around. I'll be watching, and rooting for as always. Cheers!

I think we might need to be careful given his recent emotional video - this is him trying to bottle it up again. I think it'd do him some good to blow off some steam shooting guns or taking a 1 day vacation or something, instead of just pretending to laugh and bottle it again
Not that funny when you spent shit loads of money in modding an engine and to have it break on the spot it like telling a bell end of a guy that hyper venting your lungs to get more oxygen to your tiny brain just to drop dead. All I can do is clap all day long
@@neddy1287 Yeah, definitely not funny. But when you do that with a British made car with British engines (Rolls Royce uses BMW engines and Aston Martin used to use MB engines), you HAVE to know that something is gonna break. Not could or can, but will.

@@Shawn-wt4kh Actually probably $0, his videos are usually sponsored and they cover it. Plus youtube ad revenue with a channel his size is about $5k per video. He just needs to make 5-7 videos about the repairs + some ad spots in each video and he won't pay a dime.

That block has to be windowed. Adding a skylight seriously reduces power but makes for some very interesting content! I'm just glad you were able to laugh at it Freddy!
I'm an auto glass tech and it warms my heart to see ya'll using urethane primer to stop rust. Just like I do when I scratch something.

Oh No...! Your internal pain WAS hidden very well. I've blown a hole straight through my block, pulled over on the highway and several people behind me did as well. Oil had hit the exhaust and flames were coming out under the car. A guy had a fire extinguisher we lifted the hood and put it out. Soon after I did wish it had burned to the ground. It cost a lot of money and heartache to put in the replacement motor. But I'd have a lot of trouble replacing what I have with low milage, manual version you just can't buy anymore. I'm glad I did it. I'm sure you'll be very happy after. Love your content Freddy. Can't wait to see what happens next. Guy Hooper (Australia)

Remember my buddy had this 84GT cobra mustang, he removed the back seat and turned it into a very loud Van Halen type mobile jukebox, and we drove slowly down younge street in toronto on a friday night cranking Van Halen Mine All Mine. The mirrors were useless at that level of volume, though it might've helped either contribute to hair growth or loss, with the way the skullplate was shifting similar to the way continents move about the planet.

I've separated panel bond pretty easily with a putty knife and acetone. I work on a lot of carbon fiber parts that are bonded together like that for race teams that need to be worked on and I can't work on them unless I remove the back bracing sometimes

So Crazy, my engine just blew 2 weeks ago. It must be the month of engines going out on the guys. I know your pain also, I was bummed out for days, but then I was OK, time for a new swap. Every time I see that video clip of it going off the track, it reminds me of when I was out on stage and slid sideways into a snow bank because of the icy surface and my lack of studded tires. Coasted a good distance with no control.
