There is a mod called "Ascension" by David Gaider that reestablishes the original difficulty. Then you'll see that ToB is way harder than SoA... I played the modded version and enjoyed it immensely. Plus, there is additional dialogue to wrap things up in a better way.
God, I played this so many years ago. I wish I could forget & play again.

My DnD group actually has picked up on the fact that the music I play for dragon fights is directly correlated to how I think they will do
For example in the 15th level delve into a red dragons lair
1st dragon encounter: three red dragon wyrmlings - normal combat music
2nd dragon encounter: two young red dragons - Skyrim music
Final boss: Ignatius the ancient Red Dragon - this music
The party actually retreated after a few rounds (the cleric went down, the paladin was at 9 HP, the bard wasn't looking too good and the druid was out of spell slots)... The bard used forcecage to hold the dragon while they ran, dragon misty stepped and succeeded on his charisma save, the bard then cast three separate walls of force to keep from getting breath weaponed until they got to a spot where the dragon couldn't follow
I have a feeling they will be coming back in a few levels

I think you touched on what made Baldur's Gate such a stand-out RPG. Most RPGs are about the surface level stuff, like exploring dungeons and fighting monsters and finding +3 magic gear. Baldur's Gate had all the surface trappings, but underneath that stuff, it was really a story about family. That's why there have been so many "spiritual successors" to Baldur's Gate in the 20 years since it came out, but none have really managed to capture its magic: they can copy the graphic style and the D&D rules and the other surface details, but none capture the feeling of family, of love and loss.

Yeah pretty epic stuff if it’s all timed right and the battle is 50/50 power balance making it difficult and treacherous where your getting hurt bad but you’re also hurting them bad where you could just as easily die if you won but winning was on sheer strategy and luck.. that is when the soundtrack really sets the game off because I’m so good at building my parties by the time I get to yaga and his army they’re all wimps on core rules that’s why I need to mod the game to make it harder bigger badder stronger enemies more enemies etc

Animalistic features are common for demons in Forgotten Realms. Many of them resemble beasts, they have animal-like horns, claws, hooves, wings, fur etc, etc. I guess since Amelyssan is just a human, she wanted to resemble a demon-goddess more by donning an armor with animalistic features. It's not just feathers, she also has gloves with beast-like claws and her spear resembles a tooth or a tail of an animal too.
