Fun fact about the O.G. megs: the flaps that rest against the cannon in tank mode were actually designed to fit UNDER the cannon, they had it mis-transformed when they did the product photos and on the instructions, which they had a bad habit of doing back then.
I bet DNA desgins are going to have a field day with this Megatron! I think what happening is that they are over stretching the desginers, I mean ROTB has tons of gimmick toys, so they haven't been able to put their best foot forwards as people who do the desgining are being stretched thin

Hasbro loves their repaints, but I don't think it's coincidental that there are more when the designers have to juggle Studio series (Along with its 2 subthemes), Legacy, Earthspark and especially ROTB. I also forgot to mention that most of the figures that are not repaints are also just heavy retools/ rereleases and that most of the new molds are just made to be repainted.
I actually enjoyed this figure, it feels solid I can still get it into cool poses and the cannon looks much less silly in person… overall I don’t think it’s as bad as the review, but that’s part of what is fun about the hobby, sometimes people disagree and that’s cool! We don’t always have to have the same likes or dislikes…. I still enjoyed watching his take
I don't have the original figure, but this thing feels pretty good to me, if you want the hover tank just flip the treads a bit, the cannon is admittedly a bit bland (likely to make it fit better with COMBAT system) but the transformation is easier than the gamer edition bb and cliffjumper due to their tolerances being all over the place. Id say ill probably get the Dna design and Toyhax stuff if/when they come out
I just got him and his arm and foot posability is supremely good despite my copy's right arm is a bit too loose for my likings, slightly wobbly torso and the obvious leg problem. Could care less about the fusion cannon being "too tiny" as its part of the vehicle form
The only good thing about this review is that it sorta made the figure easy to get. People are so quick to call it shit that you can get it brand new for below retail. I got it on ebay for 26 bucks with shipping included, less than the price of a deluxe in-store. I actually like it better than GE Optimus. Legit a 9/10 figure with the knee tabs removed

I feel like Hasbro wanted to get the usual suspects out of the way before they worked on the cooler characters because yeah Megs seems rather "plain" in my eyes but im still curious nonetheless. That being said Hasbro HAS CONFIRMED that more Gamer Edition figures are to be released eventually which im all in for. The first batch may not be stellar, but its hard for me to hate on the WFC designs because those games hail from a better time in my life.

I'm actually still getting this despite the downsides, I really need some more Megatron figures and this would do a great comparison with the old. My mother is into Transformers, so she usually puts in her two cents on figures that look good or look bad. Otherwise I love this figure
I really would suggest the planet x one, the prize really aint far... About a voyager and deluxe for a larger better looking figure. Its got issues mainly 1 (the hip joints) that if you fix or dont mind then really the thing is great. I would say the same of their optimus but the shoulders on that one really aint it.. That's mainly my drive to get ss optimus

In terms of the video game accuracy this Megatron looks more accurate to the video game character then the 2010 one did. Besides people buying studio series care more about the accuracy then playability of the figures
He is a bit small in size, but he is actually more design accurate than the 2010 figure which I love to death. The only thing that is off design wise is the back covering that the original figure had, but that's something DNA Design would easily fix. As for his fusion cannon, it is very game accurate, the original Deluxe figure cannon was designed to fill in the space a bit for his tank mode. So for me, if someone could redesign the tread pieces for his legs and add a back cover, maybe clean up the slot for the fusion cannon on his arm, he'd be a solid figure for sure. I'd still buy this in a heartbeat along with Optimus.
Ah I’m glad you like it! Just from memory I remember the canon in the gameplay appear to be much larger - when he would fire it, it’d send his shoulder back with blast back force 🤩
The fusion canon had a lot more detail in WFC like the 2010 deluxe but this one’s super accurate to the FoC Riot Canon which is ok I guess? If they didn’t have enough budget for the extra sculpting they could have at least widened the canon to feel heftier
To me, this Megatron design is pretty wicked. Plus, it's the first Megatron in my collection. I managed to find him in the wild at my local Target aftwr work as of the time of writing, and I'm hoping to nab the other SSGE figures since I missed out on those original releases.

They'll make a Upgrade Kit for it I got my studio series GE Optimus A new Ion cannon n gap fillers . Could be happier with it..until DNA design releases their Upgrade kit with the axe😍
I never even own these 2010 WFC figures, so I can't really complain.The only figures I have from the video games are Grimlock and Soundwave, both voyagers from Fall of Cybertron. I'm still looking forward to this Megatron figure.
I dunno why you decided to go ham on this figure in particular but to me this looks really good. I see just the knee articulation as the only big problem with this figure but other than that it seems more accurate to the game and cooler in general than the older figure. Have no idea if I'll have to see the figure in person or something but the megatron in this game always was a little lanky and I feel like you're mixing him up with his FOC look too much. The colors of this new figure are a big plus for me personally since I always thought the bright white didn't really fit the darker aesthetic of the game. I feel like you're nitpicking a LOT here for very minor things and stuff that won't personally bother me at all. But yes again the knee articulation is definitely a bit of a head scratcher.
Yep, especially after some of the things here have been seen on other figures, the knee thing is reasonable but the rest of the points made felt almost childish in a way
I got the Prime because i heard a lot of people say it was a really good figure, and it is, but its such a shame that the rest of the SS gamer edition figures seem to have missed the mark
considering that the original SS and SS86 first waves were not that great I think it's just a matter of waiting for newer releases to do a better job. Hopefully the FOC designs end up being better
honestly, I like this figure as its more faithful to the game design for everything but the back and I dont display with the backs facing forward so it doesnt bother me. All that being said, I do agree , the one from 10 years ago looks cooler... I prefer that cannon and megatron head ...but thats a complaint i have for the company Moon studios or whatever it was that made the game back then... that being said.. Hasbro can go suck balls for the size of these voyagers...... they absolutely should be bigger.
The 2010 deluxe was one of my first figures when I got back into things. Found it on the clearance shelf at the local Walmart. I never had much interest in getting the Optimus. I got the Fall version, so I'll probably still get the Gamer edition one. This highlights the scale shrink over the years.
This figure is a on and off figure, some people say its mid meanwhile others say its amazing. I got him a week ago from JB-HI-FI and man..He is a Megatron! I haven’t been able to put him down for 5 days straight, He is a Dominator, He is a Destroyer and he is a Megatron that for me personally, is valid.
Jesus Christ, he does not like this Megatron toy at all. I got mine a few days ago and I really like him. Yes, he definitely does feel...strange and maybe a little underwhelming, but I'm still glad we got a WFC Megatron because I love the High Moon games
With the recent Hasbro Q&A I can't really fault them for these mistakes. The process they had to go to get the files and whatnot for these designs and then translating them into transformable toys is likely to make an extreme difference compared to if they had the original files activision lost.
Yeah I understand that but I felt like they could have taken a page out of the line’s Prime book and made him similar to that guy regardless. Plus loads of people have been playing the games on RUclips, they could’ve just gone off that when making him.
Barricade for example is a difficult design to translate into same with megatron and in my opinion they done a great job with both of them especially sense some designs are to difficult for deluxe voyager and leader scale yeah i know Planet X is voyager scale most of the time but they use a bigger budget than hasbro and there prices are way higher to and in my opinion we shouldn’t blame hasbro for there choices especially for those class scales because there never meant to be the same quality as masterpiece scaled figures

With Studio Series going into to WFC, I hope that because Exodus (Novel) and Prime with things like RID 2015, RB, RB, I hope that we could see some Prime toys, with their Non-G1 inspired designs pop up in SS< and maybe even RID and Rescue Bots could get some collector targeted toys.
Is it just me or does this figure look a lot better than the original deluxe? I don't have either, but the improved color scheme and in my opinion better sculpting (aside from the fusion cannon) makes it look a lot better. It definitely leaves a lot to be desired proportions-wise, but so does the original deluxe.

Hmm. I just got mine a few days ago and opened him up. The only thing I'd say the original has over the newer version is the design of the back and the fusion cannon while in bot mode. Otherwise, the new version looks so much better in bot mode thanks to the color scheme of the plastic as well as the additional detail in the face. He's larger and more chunkier. There are some issues as you said, with the knees but overall, I'm glad I picked him up. I just don't like the gray-white look of the original. Both are cool looking figures...just wish the fusion cannon was better for the GE one. (alt mode on the original is vastly superior though due to the cannon and the treads).
Amazing figure but i wish he has a 90* angle on his knee joints overall a great addition to the collection. Also prive vs prime when is the optimus primal ss review.
i always liked the war for cybertron and fall for cybertron designs because they were the cybertron alt mods that didn't just look like a folded up robot and like an actual vehicle
Will get this Megatron anyways, to go with Optimus, but mainly as a place holder. Will be waiting for Hasbro to do a Studio Series Fall of Cybertron Megatron figure. As I prefer that design anyways. -Also I wonder how DNA Design will approach this figure in a upgrade kit. Beside making a better fusion cannon.
Sold off my old deluxe version for this one and no regrets. Besides nostalgia and the sculpted back there really is nothing the old deluxe does better and it’s far less accurate to the game. The new fusion cannon is a big weak but the old one wasn’t even vaguely game accurate either. The biggest flaw this this version is that those weird tab prices in the back of the knees is installed upside down (check the instructions). Easy fix though.
I feel like they have been putting less effort into the gamer edition figures then the main line just so they can bring back some old figures and earn a couple extra bucks. But besides that I feel like this megatron had 1 upgrade, and that’s that the grey doesn’t look as cheap as the plastic on the original deluxe. But I feel like they should have made him a leader to put some more budget into the design and make him a bit bigger then Optimus.

allegedly the reason gamer edition has been so bad outside of Optimus is that originally it was only supposed to be Optimus, but then hasbro changed their minds and Bee, Barricade, and Megs were rushed through production to get them out the same year as Optimus
A shame that they were rushed but I still think that they look great, it is the beginning of the line to be fair so later on it will get better just like SS86 did. Hope for leader figures soon though, FOC Dinobots would be great long with a potential commander class Bruiticus!

I continue to stand by my point. We had another budget cut. Right now we have less parts than before, quality is much worse, paint is minimal etc. I hope that APC would make upscaled versions of original deluxes. Those SS Shit editions can't be fixed even by DNA.
Eh I'll be a defender of the figure in hand it doesn't feel as bad as it looks. first off yes its not like the original version but do keep in mind hasbro has been cutting cost to the point where missing accessories are given to other figures, plus there's always toy hax and upgrade kits. As for the knees if hotshot gets a pass I think megatron should too since it's as easy as untapping the kibble. Lastly hasbro said for these gamer edition figures they didn't have access to the in game models, whether it's an excuse or not I leave to you but I commend them on what they delivered with what they had aside from the knees the rest of the articulation is good in my opinion especially the double jointed elbows helps with a lot of good mace poses. Lastly as for the alt mode if we wanted the flying tank and tred tank they probably would have had to make him leader class like blitzwing because that essentially make him a triple changer and could cost us the look he currently has or give us an not so great alt mode. For what we got I'd say if they increased some things on the paint department I give him 7.5 out of 10 but in his current state he's at least a decent 6 it's not as horrible as the review makes it out to be it still has good qualities to it In the end.
@PrimeVsPrime if DNA or any other third party made an upgrade for Midatron, would you get it? Or just not even going to bother with trying to get an update for him because he is a 2023 figure and should have had a wrist swivel and 90o bend at the knees?
I remember when you reviewed the original 2010 War for Cybertron Megatron and you were excited about this new version. It’s a shame how this figure turned out! I don’t like this figure either, if you own the 2010 version and don’t have this, you’re not missing out!
On point. I was severely underwhelmed too. Lack of wheels wasn’t too disappointing as much as the knees and the canon. Come on this is Megatron. He has one of the most iconic weapons. You have to get it right or go home.
A little late, but I got the OG 2010 wfc megs! For the ss wfc version, I would've liked it be a voyager of the original w/ a bit of remolding, better paint, articulation, and a more tolerable arm transformation
I was gonna get this as an army builder anyway so I’m not completely bummed but holy shit I think it’s the shoulders?? They might be accurate or whatever but the original looks like so much more of a bench bruiser than this guy. Might not be a bad guzzle and outback or straxus or just bob the tank guy. Excellent custom base now tht he’s 5mm compatible but in terms of megatron this is a lil bleh. That makes me more hyped to customize it tho?? Definitely a buy he’s just not dropping the value of the original on eBay bc still want him RIP
With the whole Activision Blizzard merge, they might bring the Cybertron games. And with that I heard they'd release more gamer edition figures. I'm excited
This is one of the reasons I stopped collecting hasbro TFs and now collecting 3rd party legends. Not only are much more faithful to the g1 era but you can fit more in one place. I have all the ark members while hasbro still shoving optimus and bumblebee in every series. The only figures I have from hasbro are very few like skylynx and trypticon which go very nicely with the legends size figures. I suggest you do a short with the shaved fake locking plastic. Just a suggestion.
mega agreed with the review. The WFC game figures are one of the holy grail series of figures and they took no care whatsoever when designing these. Such a shame.
Your opinion is your opinion I hate Legacy Animated Prowl buy ot slowly start to glow on me over time. My main problem with Game Megatron is his head it looks okay and the grey is too dark but it looks the part for my War For Cybertron shelf and that all that matters in the end

I never even own these 2010 WFC figures, so I can't really complain.The only figures I have from the video games are Grimlock and Soundwave, both voyagers from Fall of Cybertron. I'm still looking forward to this Megatron figure.
For a Megatron he is way too thin; here's hoping they decide to do a FOC version in the future.

I dunno why you decided to go ham on this figure in particular but to me this looks really good. I see just the knee articulation as the only big problem with this figure but other than that it seems more accurate to the game and cooler in general than the older figure. Have no idea if I'll have to see the figure in person or something but the megatron in this game always was a little lanky and I feel like you're mixing him up with his FOC look too much. The colors of this new figure are a big plus for me personally since I always thought the bright white didn't really fit the darker aesthetic of the game. I feel like you're nitpicking a LOT here for very minor things and stuff that won't personally bother me at all. But yes again the knee articulation is definitely a bit of a head scratcher.
He could certainly approach his reviews more objectively… he gets a little overly heated in this video…
Yep, especially after some of the things here have been seen on other figures, the knee thing is reasonable but the rest of the points made felt almost childish in a way
Honestly the downsides I see are the fusion Canon, articulation, and the tank mode everything else just seems good

I got the Prime because i heard a lot of people say it was a really good figure, and it is, but its such a shame that the rest of the SS gamer edition figures seem to have missed the mark

considering that the original SS and SS86 first waves were not that great I think it's just a matter of waiting for newer releases to do a better job. Hopefully the FOC designs end up being better

honestly, I like this figure as its more faithful to the game design for everything but the back and I dont display with the backs facing forward so it doesnt bother me. All that being said, I do agree , the one from 10 years ago looks cooler... I prefer that cannon and megatron head ...but thats a complaint i have for the company Moon studios or whatever it was that made the game back then... that being said.. Hasbro can go suck balls for the size of these voyagers...... they absolutely should be bigger.

The 2010 deluxe was one of my first figures when I got back into things. Found it on the clearance shelf at the local Walmart. I never had much interest in getting the Optimus. I got the Fall version, so I'll probably still get the Gamer edition one. This highlights the scale shrink over the years.
proof that "new" does not always mean "better". like for example, Titans Return Megatron and Siege Megatron (at least in my opinion)
I would be quite pleased with the old Deluxes being re-released too. Love my WFC OP & Bee. Real shame I couldn't get the Cons.
This figure is a on and off figure, some people say its mid meanwhile others say its amazing. I got him a week ago from JB-HI-FI and man..He is a Megatron! I haven’t been able to put him down for 5 days straight, He is a Dominator, He is a Destroyer and he is a Megatron that for me personally, is valid.
Jesus Christ, he does not like this Megatron toy at all. I got mine a few days ago and I really like him. Yes, he definitely does feel...strange and maybe a little underwhelming, but I'm still glad we got a WFC Megatron because I love the High Moon games

4:29 the original may not have had wrist rotation either but it was somewhat paid for by the unusual transformation and open palm hands
With the recent Hasbro Q&A I can't really fault them for these mistakes. The process they had to go to get the files and whatnot for these designs and then translating them into transformable toys is likely to make an extreme difference compared to if they had the original files activision lost.
Yeah I understand that but I felt like they could have taken a page out of the line’s Prime book and made him similar to that guy regardless. Plus loads of people have been playing the games on RUclips, they could’ve just gone off that when making him.
Barricade for example is a difficult design to translate into same with megatron and in my opinion they done a great job with both of them especially sense some designs are to difficult for deluxe voyager and leader scale yeah i know Planet X is voyager scale most of the time but they use a bigger budget than hasbro and there prices are way higher to and in my opinion we shouldn’t blame hasbro for there choices especially for those class scales because there never meant to be the same quality as masterpiece scaled figures
I think you make some valid points. The original had more style while this one comes off as generic. That said, this still looks like a good figure
So epic, they sure delivered us a great WFC Megatron! That mace is so menacing though the fusion cannon is a little too small.

With Studio Series going into to WFC, I hope that because Exodus (Novel) and Prime with things like RID 2015, RB, RB, I hope that we could see some Prime toys, with their Non-G1 inspired designs pop up in SS< and maybe even RID and Rescue Bots could get some collector targeted toys.
Is it just me or does this figure look a lot better than the original deluxe? I don't have either, but the improved color scheme and in my opinion better sculpting (aside from the fusion cannon) makes it look a lot better. It definitely leaves a lot to be desired proportions-wise, but so does the original deluxe.
I have the original deluxe, and i can agree, new one looks better. Plus i actually compared the proportions to the game model, new one is a lot closer

DNA Design made a kit for Optimus. I expect one for Megatron to come to the rescue.
Megatron never had treads to begin with so the thristers are for game accuracy and the wheels would remove the accuracy
i was hyped on this new line but when i got the Barricade in hand man this is a step back... i just look forward to buy the figures that weren't released othrwise i'll gladly stick to the old line

I had the 2010 figurine, it was wonderful! Unfortunately I lost it a long time ago. Irreparable loss...
Hmm. I just got mine a few days ago and opened him up. The only thing I'd say the original has over the newer version is the design of the back and the fusion cannon while in bot mode. Otherwise, the new version looks so much better in bot mode thanks to the color scheme of the plastic as well as the additional detail in the face. He's larger and more chunkier. There are some issues as you said, with the knees but overall, I'm glad I picked him up. I just don't like the gray-white look of the original. Both are cool looking figures...just wish the fusion cannon was better for the GE one. (alt mode on the original is vastly superior though due to the cannon and the treads).
Amazing figure but i wish he has a 90* angle on his knee joints overall a great addition to the collection. Also prive vs prime when is the optimus primal ss review.

i always liked the war for cybertron and fall for cybertron designs because they were the cybertron alt mods that didn't just look like a folded up robot and like an actual vehicle
Will get this Megatron anyways, to go with Optimus, but mainly as a place holder. Will be waiting for Hasbro to do a Studio Series Fall of Cybertron Megatron figure. As I prefer that design anyways.

Sold off my old deluxe version for this one and no regrets. Besides nostalgia and the sculpted back there really is nothing the old deluxe does better and it’s far less accurate to the game. The new fusion cannon is a big weak but the old one wasn’t even vaguely game accurate either. The biggest flaw this this version is that those weird tab prices in the back of the knees is installed upside down (check the instructions). Easy fix though.

I feel like they have been putting less effort into the gamer edition figures then the main line just so they can bring back some old figures and earn a couple extra bucks. But besides that I feel like this megatron had 1 upgrade, and that’s that the grey doesn’t look as cheap as the plastic on the original deluxe. But I feel like they should have made him a leader to put some more budget into the design and make him a bit bigger then Optimus.

allegedly the reason gamer edition has been so bad outside of Optimus is that originally it was only supposed to be Optimus, but then hasbro changed their minds and Bee, Barricade, and Megs were rushed through production to get them out the same year as Optimus
A shame that they were rushed but I still think that they look great, it is the beginning of the line to be fair so later on it will get better just like SS86 did. Hope for leader figures soon though, FOC Dinobots would be great long with a potential commander class Bruiticus!
Just got him on Amazon for like $20! Not bad! I never had the initial war for cybertron Megatron, so looks fun! I wanna get optimus and some of the other game versions too! Good stuff! 😎👌🏻 seeing that old Megatron and old box art really brought me back! Good times!
I continue to stand by my point. We had another budget cut. Right now we have less parts than before, quality is much worse, paint is minimal etc.
I hope that APC would make upscaled versions of original deluxes. Those SS Shit editions can't be fixed even by DNA.

Eh I'll be a defender of the figure in hand it doesn't feel as bad as it looks. first off yes its not like the original version but do keep in mind hasbro has been cutting cost to the point where missing accessories are given to other figures, plus there's always toy hax and upgrade kits. As for the knees if hotshot gets a pass I think megatron should too since it's as easy as untapping the kibble. Lastly hasbro said for these gamer edition figures they didn't have access to the in game models, whether it's an excuse or not I leave to you but I commend them on what they delivered with what they had aside from the knees the rest of the articulation is good in my opinion especially the double jointed elbows helps with a lot of good mace poses. Lastly as for the alt mode if we wanted the flying tank and tred tank they probably would have had to make him leader class like blitzwing because that essentially make him a triple changer and could cost us the look he currently has or give us an not so great alt mode. For what we got I'd say if they increased some things on the paint department I give him 7.5 out of 10 but in his current state he's at least a decent 6 it's not as horrible as the review makes it out to be it still has good qualities to it In the end.
@PrimeVsPrime if DNA or any other third party made an upgrade for Midatron, would you get it? Or just not even going to bother with trying to get an update for him because he is a 2023 figure and should have had a wrist swivel and 90o bend at the knees?

On point. I was severely underwhelmed too. Lack of wheels wasn’t too disappointing as much as the knees and the canon. Come on this is Megatron. He has one of the most iconic weapons. You have to get it right or go home.

I was gonna get this as an army builder anyway so I’m not completely bummed but holy shit I think it’s the shoulders?? They might be accurate or whatever but the original looks like so much more of a bench bruiser than this guy. Might not be a bad guzzle and outback or straxus or just bob the tank guy. Excellent custom base now tht he’s 5mm compatible but in terms of megatron this is a lil bleh. That makes me more hyped to customize it tho?? Definitely a buy he’s just not dropping the value of the original on eBay bc still want him RIP

I'm planning on getting this figure only because I dont have a Megatron and the only good mainline one (siege) is very expensive
This is one of the reasons I stopped collecting hasbro TFs and now collecting 3rd party legends. Not only are much more faithful to the g1 era but you can fit more in one place. I have all the ark members while hasbro still shoving optimus and bumblebee in every series. The only figures I have from hasbro are very few like skylynx and trypticon which go very nicely with the legends size figures. I suggest you do a short with the shaved fake locking plastic. Just a suggestion.

Your opinion is your opinion I hate Legacy Animated Prowl buy ot slowly start to glow on me over time. My main problem with Game Megatron is his head it looks okay and the grey is too dark but it looks the part for my War For Cybertron shelf and that all that matters in the end
