- Listen to the most beautiful arias by Verdi, Mozart, Rossini, Bellini, Mascagni, Saint-Saëns and others! These masterpieces of the opera are performed by international stars like Lucia Aliberti, María Bayo, Michaela Kaune, Marlis Petersen, Marina Prudenskaja, Marcelo Álvarez, Lado Ataneli, Anatoli Kotscherga, Aquiles Machado, Shawn Mathey, Lawrence Brownlee and other great soloists. They are accompanied by the Choir & Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, conducted by Lawrence Foster.
The gala in the Deutsche Oper Berlin (2005), which is organized for the benefit of the German AIDS Foundation aids-stiftung.de, has for years been one of the cultural and social highlights on the German agenda. My goodness this is superb. I selected this a while back to play as some background music to work with. I was more than a little distracted by Maria Bayo, stopped in my tracks by Lawrence Brownlee and good for absolutely nothing by the time I got to Michaela Kaune. I had to turn it off and come back later when I discovered Anatoli Kotscherga. He has led to my taking a tour of so many versions of Aleko's aria that have just blown me away. But Anatoli stole my heart that first day and I come back again and again. What a concert.

1 h 15 de bonheur ! Exceptionnels interprètes. Je ne connaissais pas la plupart d'entr'eux, mais j'ai eté impressionné par la formidable basse ukrainienne A. Kotscherga (air de Rachmaninov) toute en puissance. Et quelle musique ! Vous allez adorer ... L'un des meilleurs gala d'Opéra que j'ai jamais entendu. Merci pour ce cadeau.

Oh what a beautiful version of Mon Coeur S'ouvr' a Ta Voi. Provenskaja (sp) sang that octave leap at the end with confidence and beauty. Such a full, rich voice from such a slender frame.

What a magical rendition to listen to the highlights of the Opera composers! The videographer and editor did a brilliant job with the Opera gala, ideal to introduce the theme to new listeners.
The entire orchestra worked beautifully together with the singers. The conductor is profound and manages the balance of precision brilliantly.

My goodness, I really felt bad for the lady singing the Ave Maria.
I would need to agree. It just wasn't a piece suited for her.Hers is not a coloratura voice. It was pinched..
She sang under the notes often..even with the technical control she had a times. Short on breath often. I am going to blame the dress.
Her technique was horrific, from I saw and heard she's already done some damage to her voice and probably won't have a voice in 10 years.That jaw wobble was a dead give away.
She has plunged into repertoire for which she is not equipped vocally (not so much the verismo as the bel canto). She has consequently forced her voice into its ruin. It is sad, as a nice tonal quality sometimes shines through the tightness. The duet with Sr Álvarez was even worse; as if we needed another “Libiamo...” anyway.
If, you close your eyes, and just listen to your voice and the music, you will see that there is no problem. It is only prejudices, Ms. Aliberti's type of voice, she needs to warm up to sing, and singing the Ave Maria de Mascagni from the beginning, it is a real challenge, then she sings a wonderful cabaletta from La Sonnambula by Vincenzo Bellini. You have to understand that voices are human, they are not like a piano, that if it gets ruined you can buy another one. And when criticizing with hatred or blaming the dress, you have to think that the singer may have had a bad night, and respect her career and her career.
If, you look in the description box, she is the one who heads the cast of singers, why? Because he is an international star and thanks to #DWClassicalMusic that I invite this megastar for a gala night and because the rest of the singers do the choir in the final number, to honor a true Diva who has 40 years of international career and who they must be respected and not go around throwing hate for free and malicious.
