To be fair to Rick and Mark, Matty is almost always in the 310-315 carry, 340-350 total range no matter the head of shaft combo. It does seem through a fitting they do dial in hitting the center more often and have vastly different flight windows. I do think that Rick's drives are pretty eratic especially on the course, and while his carry numbers are similar, I think he'd find that a proper tour level fitting would tighten his dispersion up. Id love to see a Rick Shiels TXG fitting for his new driver
Great video! Thank you so much, again! We have a group of 6 guys flying from Finland to Italy, just coz we don't have a propper fitting studio in Finland. Your stuff is exactly the reason we are going. I for example am playing with 1HCP and I had no idea how unaware I was about gear untill I found your channel. Easily the best source of golf information there is. Period.
@@MrPanukkio thanks! Sorry I don't know any italian club fitters, was just hoping to find one that might be close to a future Italian holiday destination. Best of luck!
It's amazing how good Ian and Matt are at coming up with a hypothesis about a shaft, head combination, and proving it out. I am seriously thinking about making a trip from Virginia to Toronto and get fitted for a driver. As many others said, my experiences of club fitting have been so bad in comparison. Looks like the fitters wanted to sell whatever was hitting the farthest. :) Keep up the great work Ian and Matt.
This is the best golf fitting channel on YT hands down. Of course, the 15 handicap like myself won’t make any good use out of a $350 shaft on top of the $530 driver but I always love looking at what the pros and wannabe pros use to dial in their games. Top content.
The Professor! Just a microcosm of shaft fitting importance. I have a 70 BF in a 14* Sim Rocket. I don’t even need my driver some days. I have owned every Generation of the Blueboard. The TB is next!!
I learned about this channel from a friend. That was one of the best tips I ever got. I have learned so much. Matt, I love your swing because I am a lefty, 6 hcp, senior golfer. My best score this past year, 71 (-1) on our par 72. I thank you guys for your expertise. Ian your definitely a GOAT of fitters. I have referred many friends to your channel. Great video.
Never seen so much change with such little differentials. I wasn't expecting that at all at the end. I thought certain combinations worked for certain swings but that was an eye opener for me.
This test just goes to show that you lads definitely try to get the best out of all products you test. For anyone who isn’t a believer you have to respect the fact Matt and Ian spitball ideas on camera and test straight away. Hence we have a Sim Max enter the fray right at the end and the results add up to show what a knowledgeable fitter really can do.
Once l reach my goal weight, and we can travel to Canada again, I'm treating myself to a new golf bag from driver to putter. Give you one guess where I'm coming to get fit? (And while Matty is a fellow lefty, I'll let one of the fitting geniuses there do it.)
Nobody could fit like you guys. Your knowledge and care is incredible. Hope one day I can make it up to Canada for a full bag fitting. Would be a dream.
Thanks guys....happy new year to you all and thanks for the vlogs throughout a difficult year. Hopefully get over to see my cousin in Kitchener later in 2021 (live in Edinburgh) and would be interested in a driver fit...even if it’s just a new shaft. Stay safe.
Great video guys! After watching Ricks video on the autoflex shaft, I would love to see him come over once this covid changes, and get fit by you guys. That'd be a great watch! Keep it the good work.
The TB feels fantastic to me. The best Blueboard yet. Tolerances are so tight. Can go full speed or 80 percent and performance is outstanding. RDX Blue definitely feels stiffer and some will like that but I found it to be tiring.
Loved this video. I really enjoyed the last segment, where you swapped to a 9* Max head to show totally different flight shapes. Really interesting info!
Awesome video guys! I went to Club Champion and got fitted for the Diamana TB shaft in my TS3 driver. I have very similar swing stats to Matty boy. I've been fortunate enough to put it in play down in Texas, and I have hit some bombs with it already. Well worth the money!!!
Oh man this is awesome. I used to pay the Diamana Blueboard 83 x5ct back in the day. Top 5 best shafts ever. Looking forward to the 2021 brackets that will include the Ping G425 LST.......
Got to hit the RDX Blue 70 6.5TX in a TS3 15* 3 wood and it was awesome. Makes me want to try and demo the Blue and Black in 60 6.5tx in the driver to see how they would perform.
I ended up winning a 9 deg. G410 Plus with a Alta 55 Stiff shaft but have a hard time keeping it off the high toe (though nice and stable out there) as compared to my current 10.5 M1 430 with Aldilla Rogue Stiff 70 that I tend to center more and it has a taller face which I think I like a lot. Neat to see the easy 178 mph ball speed after that Sim Max head switch; nice to see the driver head versus shaft combo analysis in this video. I'd love to do the same when I get off that Mississauga TXG wait list.
This may be the video of the year! I just put the Aerotech Ti-Fiber in Sim Max, I cannot explain how curious I am to how that shaft compares to that Mitsubishi?? 😯
Would love to see a comparison of the Tour AD DI, an older "high launch, low spin" shaft still very popular compared to recently launched "high launch, low spin" shafts like the Ventus Blue, Diamana TB, RDX Blue, etc. Admittedly, I recently was fitted into an AD DI 6x with my TSi3 9* and was a little disappointed the Ventus Blue didn't work for me (lower ball speed, more spin, less carry with Ventus Blue). I wanted the latest, hot shaft and got a 10+ year old shaft. :)
Ian, would you be able to dissect a new customer swing as deeply as you do for Matt? Not trying to question your knowledge, second to none! But familiarity has too make this process much easier. The way you two work together on these things blows my mind!🤯🤯 Thanks for helping me expand my golf knowledge. Inch by inch
From what I remember of their El profiles, I think the tensei blue will be closer to the rdx blue than the diamana TB. Compared to the diamana BF, the tensei blue profile had more of a linear feel and less of a dip (meaning the mid wasn't as soft compared to the butt/tip as the diamana shows). I play smoke hzrdus yellow (same El as a av blue and probably similar to the rdx blue), tensei blue and diamana BF, all have soft mids but the diamana is more "whip crack" at the bottom compared to them all. I think the biggest thing for each golfer will be how stiff the handle is and the transition stiffness into the mid section. They're all different in that sense and everyone has a preference.
Have my eye on the Hazrdus Blue shaft. My driver swing speed is around 104 to 106. And would pair it with the Titleist TSI 3. Would that combo with my swing speed be ideal?
I'd recommend getting fit. It's really hard to just plug in a swing speed and say whether or not a shaft/head combo will work for you. Shafts can accommodate a lot of swing speeds, it's really about the launch and spin that will work best for your delivery
Another awesome video guys. Can’t believe how much difference a shaft can perform when paired with the right head. What are some shafts that would pair well with Cobra Speedzone for a 108ish SS?
I think it's funny that the "miss hit" from Matt, is higher on the face, exactly where pros try to hit their driver, to increase launch angle and decrease spin...which is exactly what happened. 😏
Please do a review on the True Temper AMT Shafts. I wondering if it’s a gimmick; can having different weighted shafts harm consistency. Will it actually help with the longer irons having a lighter shaft.
I played the amt white, I don't think it's a gimmick at all. True temper change the balance point in each shaft so that it's the same swing weight for all the irons even with the different overall weight. Compared to the DGS300, the 4-6 irons feel a slightly softer mid / tip feel because the shaft is lighter and so they definitely give you more launch, but 7-PW feel very similar if not the same to the DGS300.
I’m looking for new shaft. I have played tensei blue and diamana blue for a long time. I have picked up speed and planning on getting more. I just don’t want to spend $500 on a shaft
Ian’s knowledge base makes me feel like I have been ripped off during every fitting I’ve ever paid for in the past
Makes every other fitting feel like a sales pitch.
Same. Just got fitted for fairways and the dude looked like he couldn’t wait to go home.
I mean it’s about as basic as it gets man. Not rocket science

The Loch Ness Monster!
Agreed, just proves every time that the art of fitting is a rare skill...
