    Yebba is such a beautiful singer, but what a wonderful bunch of back up singers she has. They are just amazing!

    I've been waiting for an artist to fuse some folk with RnB/jazz. She hit the mark spot on. Her effortless vocals and delicate approach requires lots of discipline. Just amazing ❤🎉

      There is a fair bit of country there too and all works together absolutely beautifully.

    You Should 100% do Jazmine Sullivans tiny desk concert please! she has a nice uhhhh idk how to describe it, hearty? voice. Very underrated vocalist.

    I think that these are stylistic choices (grit/“scratch l”) that she is using. There’s a lot of intention in which she is using to sing these songs. If you listen across the board, she is able to sing almost crystal clear.. there’s a lot of soul/gospel influence here as well.

      @ZoeStibiVocalCoach  3 года назад +10

      Agree with you on that but I feel like her scratch has become less intentional in some cases. Could be because of the smoking though?

    • @Joysings86
      @Joysings86 2 года назад +1

      @@ZoeStibiVocalCoach I agree. Personal experience: As I hit my 30s my voice has become raspier, even splits at some point, and it's definitely not intentional.

    I came across yebba on drakes latest album but came across her tiny desk concert and my mind performance yesterday and since then i've been obsessed with her and i go to sleep with stand and distance in my head and wake up with all i ever wanted and october sky on my mind and i don't mind one of the best vocalist i've heard and seen in the longest i love her so much and pray she's getting through her loss

    What you're trying to say is that the Tiny Desk concerts are "raw" talent. Yebba's is one of the best. But it's largely attributed to the stellar background vocals. The background harmony is unmatched. ❤️

      Agreed but then again I think when people are underrated they often make better music because there is less pressure 🤔

    The scratch in my opinion is a flavorful technique that's adds character to songs. Not everyone can pull off that sound and it becomes ear candy in the end👍👍👍

    • @ZoeStibiVocalCoach
      @ZoeStibiVocalCoach  Год назад

      Probably due to her smoking though....

    • @lenerush1520
      @lenerush1520 Год назад

      @@ZoeStibiVocalCoach I smoke, but when i was under 10 i sang in the choire fulltime from age 5-16 and actually trained myself at home to have a controlled scratch cause i thought it sounded good in one point in a particular song, i did get to the point i could scratch it at the exact point. i miss that. now that ive grown up and not sang professionally and smoked for over a decade i cant controll the scrathing, but its more often now. but i can feel it's not controlled and on purpose and its scratch in a "wrong way" , but i remmeber when i was a child i could scratch it with dicepline or controlled.

    • @ZoeStibiVocalCoach
      @ZoeStibiVocalCoach  Год назад +1

      @@lenerush1520 that is the point though isn't it? You can't control it all the time if it is something from smoking.
      However if you could do it as a kid cool! Smoking causes the vocal folds to stiffen which is why it is probably harder for you to control now...

    I have little music training but I wondered whether or not the woman on backing vocals was indicating the end of the note for 'yooouuu' with her hand movement. Am I looking too much into it? 😂❤️

    • @ZoeStibiVocalCoach
      @ZoeStibiVocalCoach  2 года назад +1

      Could have been. Let me take another look. Usually it would just be Yebba that signals the end of the note no one else. She is doing it the whole time with her hands. 🥰
