You will really love it. Be sure to catch Coheelee Creek Covered Bridge nearby. It is the southernmost original covered bridge in the United States.

If you ever go more north up the state make sure to take in Rock Eagle Park. The ground effigy of the eagle is literally larger from wingspan to wingspan spread out than any of the animal features on the much more well known Nazca plateau in Peru. It is just not bigger than the perfectly straight line geoglyphs, but definitely larger than any of the animal ground works of Nazca. Two total effigies are around the park area.

Been there! Swam in the lake nearby. Enjoyed the movie inside the park museum especially since the AC was cold!!

I’ve always said it isn’t a eagle! It’s more a buzzard shape to me. I even did a little research and found that some scientists think it’s a buzzard. lol

Did they ever catch the thieves that broke in about 20 years ago? Haven’t heard anything on that…..if I did, I forgot. It was quite a “steal”

They recovered some of the artifacts from a flea market in Tampa (I believe that is where they were found). It seems like it was only 20 years ago, but it was much longer than that! They continue to look for the rest.

A really impressive and interesting place.
I think Kolomoki means "White Oak" in the pertinent language (?)

That’s correct and our nearby creek (Ichawaynotchoway) means ( This Away That Away ) in their language.
