So, if LPG cars explode everytime there is a spark, then we’ll have burning taxis everywhere here in Philippines
WTF 😂😂😂
All fuels will explode when you get the right fuel/air mixture. Try it with flour or coal dust and the results are devastating.
@@davidelliott5843 The latest theory is Coal dust explosions helped to sink the Olympic and the Lusitania, passengers reported a second massive explosion after the initial one from the torpedo. So you are 100% correct with your comment.👍👍
No exploding taxis in Hong Kong, oh except for the electric ones
Not hundreds, but millions of taxi cars all over the world are LPG.
but that dosent me there isn't a safety problem no one saw and just because lots of taxis use it dosent NOT I repeat dose NOT mean it is safe that means nothing think of it as lots of people thinkin eating metal is good for you dosent mean it is safe.(rely on facts)
eat shit, millions of flies around the world can't be wrong
Ce treaba are scula cu prefectura?
Tuff Nerd it's totally impossible for it to explode bcs everything is sealed and you cannot introduce anything but gas in it. And the engine is almost the same as a petrol engine

I'm driving a Citroen Picasso 1.8 16V converted to LPG with an AG system and till now only the tank had to be replaced since it was showing signs of corrosion. Since then the new one with capacity for 40 litres is placed inside the boot and not under as before. Here in Poland, where I live nowadays, the LPG is still a viable and economical option though surprises me that in the UK they do allow domestic installations! Should be done by an authorised dealer or expert.
My tank is still in the spare wheel well, 70L. Corrosion is literally gone after I scraped off the original paint and redone with hammerite redoxide 8 years ago.
Agree
I think not having an official installation certificate required stunted confidence in the uk market
LOL, our government, (The Netherlands) charges a bunch of taxes on top of the purchase prices on cars like a V8 Camaro because they are "bad for the environment" yet the also charge double the annual tax on your car if it runs on LPG, which according the this video is better for the environment than regular fuel.
:D
My Mercedes CLK350 has been running fine on LPG since 30k miles, now on 67k. At the moment in UK, LPG is less than half the price of petrol - 51p/litre for me.
Petrol = 21MPG
LPG = 19MPG x2 due to half price of LPG = equivalent MPG is 38 MPG. And these figures are for local driving only.
My first car was a Galant LPG, then i had a E320 diesel and a Civic diesel, but i actually hate diesel cars and theyre not suited to my short driving distances and sound awful so had to go back to petrol but didnt want to pay out my pocket on fuel costs.
Performance and economy - best of both worlds and a much less potential engine problems. The amount of problems with modern diesels these days - fuel injectors, turbos, DPF, EGR etc. We have plenty of LPG stations south of England too.
@Siddharth Sagar Lol, what the fuck about it? In my city in Poland there's a BMW M5 E61 V10 (E61 = touring) running LPG too. Without problems at all
That overdubbed explosion noise at 6:21 is shamefully dishonest.
@no one 😂
LPG never took off in Europe because of Diesel. People don't like the idea of going to an independent installer to have them modify their car and mess around with the fuel system, once fuel prices started going up people had the choice between buying a petrol car, having to drive it on petrol for the warranty period and then convert it to LPG as essentially an aftermarket modification, or convert it straight away and lose their warranty, or simply buy a Diesel.
If manufacturers offered all their cars in LPG from from the start everybody would drive an LPG car today, and our cities wouldn't be buried in a cloud of soot.
@@fatihbaskin2000 and smell
I recall a few cars offering factory LPG. Koreans did that, and maybe Fiat. LPG alone didn't convince people to buy inferior cars, however.
Here, most old and 2010s cars have lpg's.
@K B my gpl car has 500k
In Australia in the early 2000s they used to make Ford Falcons that ran on LPG straight from the factory.
I run car on LPG, incredibly cheap.. cheaper the a diesel, performs as petrol
Performs as petrol... Are you sure about that? The car pulls waaay worse on LPG than on petrol.
if you have good lpg system you will feel no diference.
I have STAG system instaled and its perfect
You get more hp these days with lpg lol
Tadas it depends on the mapping. You can map an lpg car to run even better than on petrol but it will worsen the fuel economy which defeats the whole purpose of an lpg system in the first place - thats why you see cars on such fuel to run slower
I had an LPG transit van, it was great and I never had a problem with it. It had huge tanks mounted under the van and I got epic mileage out of it. The fuel economy was slightly better than diesel, so if you're doing a huge mileage there are savings to be made. I serviced the LPG system once a year for £50 and that was all it needed doing. LPG is also infinitely less polluting. It's a shame the manufacturers and the government pushed diesel on everyone in the early 00's. My local high street is a carciogenic smogfest at pretty much any time of the day between 6am and 8pm and it never used to be like that. When I first started driving in the late 90s it was quite rare to get to stuck behind a diesel, now it's quite rare not to and my vents are permanently set to re-circulate.
US is a huge potential LPG consumer . I hope hybrid cars to fail like they fail a 100 years ago but this time to be replaced with the proper fuel and to save the V8/10/12 engines :D
It is safe and cheap to run. I can give an example from my family. A 1.6 MPI Renault Megane that had factory fited LPG conversion. It has 290.000 on the clock, of witch 98% were on LPG. No engine problems, in fact it runs very smoth. And you can always switch to gasoline or gas, any time you want.
Ford falcon, dual Fuel, odometer stopped working by 250,000 k's, that was before I had it, still haven't changed a head gasket, let alone blown up.
I drive lpg for years , and I am truly astonished as to why people don't massively adopt. It is so fucking cheap compared to the other choices.
Australia is getting rid of lpg pumps hand over fist. It infuriates me as it's such a good fuel
Stupid government killed the industry. Selling gas to Japan and China dirt cheap whilst increasing the market cost in Australia. Some manufacturers left Australia for America cos the gas was cheaper in USA. And gas was essential for energy source.
I would like to see a whole load of petrol cars and vans fitted with LPG systems. Not many new petrol vehicles are fitted with LPG systems these days which is a shame. I'm guessing the main reason is to cut production costs. Their are a lot of advantages of owning a vehicle with an LPG system installed.
* Lower running costs
* Lower harmful emissions
* Lower demand on petrol
* Lower engine maintenance costs
If more petrol vehicles had LPG systems installed, the overall rate of petrol consumption would lower. This would help towards reducing the risk of petrol shortages. The environment will still benefit as the rate of harmful emissions would be lower.
Dacia have been offering their cars with LPG
@@ashleywhiteman2684 I believe so. Good on them. It's a shame other car manufacturers don't do the same. Vauxhall used to add LPG systems into several of their models years ago which was good. It must have been too costly for them to continue doing so. It is possible to retrofit existing petrol cars with LPG systems, but the installation costs for the end user can be very expensive.
The latest liquid phase injection systems give the same power and economy as the petrol version. The installation has simpler pipe work but the engine inlet manifold needs to have the gas injectors fitted so there's swings and roundabouts on labour costs.
Was 13 cents a litre in Australia
Well, considering that LPG is used widely in other places (like Barbecues, campers, cookers, camp heaters, and much much more) I don't imagine it's going to be fazed out.
They use LPG taxis in China as well - they work very well and the drivers say they can run most of the day without refueling which is a plus for them.
most taxis in bucharest use lpg, and there are more than 150k
never seen or heard about explosions
I drive a 2001 Mazda 626 HB HP that was converted for a lease company in 2001.
They installed a Vialle LPi installation.
This system injects liquid LPG gas in the inlet runners, next to the petrol injectors. The evaporation of the liquid LPG extracts heat and cools the inlet air. This fully compensated for the lower power because of the lower specific energy of LPG.
Another benefit is that any contamination is also injected and burned and does not foul up the evaporator.
Best of all: I live close to Belgium where LPG is Euro 0.35 / liter.
We do pay a little extra tax to run a car on LPG.
I have been running on LPG since 1991 without much extra problems.
I am also for 2 years driving a 2.4l A4 with LPG and i am more than happy! It costs 60 cent in Germany while now the gas (benzin) costs almost 1.60 euros. with 11.5 l pro 100 km i am really happy with my consumption.
i do have lpg car, it is a fantastic.saves me a lot.love it. before i paid around £100 a month, now its £55. a bought car for 1000quid.bargain
Is it safe? In iran people say lpg is dengerus😤
fardin فردین when used in the wrong way or in the wrong hands, it can be dangerous. But it is still very safe
RIP opel omega
*****
Yeah , you are right .. Vauxhall Motors is an affiliated company of the German Adam Opel
The moral: Smoking is very bad for your health 😁
The tanks are actually very safe. Leakage is ofcourse dangerous but rarely happens. In case of a crash and temperature buildup the LPG tank will actually 'blow off' excess pressure, whereas a fuel tank just builds up flammable fumes.
In Spain, an lpg conversion requires to undergo a mot inspection, so it pretty safe with no issues whatsoever
Always check you vehicle is on the Autogas UK website, otherwise insuranc ewill demand an engineers report. Otherwise no problem insuring them. Unless like me you have a V8 Disco, registered LPG,no problem Sir! Has a winch -mass screams ! Me, Why, You have insured me on Discos with winches for years? No straight answer. A specalist brocker, and including limited off road cover , less than my Standard Disiel Series 2 Disco.
I have had two cars running on LPG. I loved it and had no problems other than remember to swap over to it. One was a 1.3L Daihatsu Hijet the other was a 4L Jeep Cherokee
I used to race a Daihatsu Charade in Speedway, that thing with its little 3cyl engine was faster than all the other bigger Datsuns, Corollas, Focuses ect.
They literally had to handicap all the Charades to give the other cars a chance.
im looking for some advice. i have a junk nissan micra 1.0 that i want
to add a garret 300hp turbo to. i know when i add so much air to the ecu
controlled injectors that the system cant put in enough petrol, so i
was thinking to use some old lpg parts to stuff extra fuel in from an
lpg tank. im hoping to get a few bars boost, so i guess i need to more
than double the burnable fuels getting into the block. so without
touching the ecu, etc what issues will i face by adding vapor phase lpg
into the intake after the turbo, or will it be safer to add the gas to
air before its compressed. whats more likely to blow up the intake? im
sure the micra will blow up anyway.
Not every petrol car can be easily converted... Make sure it is not engine with direct injection system. I drive toyota yaris on lpg. Now it's 2019 petrol cost 1.30£ lpg 55.9p/l full tank 33l cost 19£ = 250miles once a 1.5month I put 10l of premium petrol for 14£ annual service of lpg system cost 85£ that's is.... Same power as on petrol no difference... I done 60k miles on lpg so far...it's great because I am not financially restricted where to work or where I want to go.
Cops and cabs in NZ and Australia are mostly still LPG today..
CNG guys, even better than LPG. so clean that you can breath behind a CNG car and not noticing nothing more than warm air. I drove more than 200k and never a problem..and don't forget that in case of a long travel or an "emergency" you are running a bifuel car that works on gas as well.
Our city buses run on CNG.
And Honda at one point in the last decade made a CNG Civic.
As of 2022: LPG -> 0,7€/L (was 0,5€/L), CNG 2€/L (was 0,9 in 2020). Anyway, yes, it (was) great but retro-fitted cars were less powerful but cheaper than everything... sadly 2021 has arrived.
I bought a driving dump ('98 mitsu lancer GLX) on lpg for €300.
Drove it 1.5year on lpg.
Calculated the km's i did with it and compair with petrol and lpg prices
It saved me more than €3000 on 1.5year
About 40k km done.
Now i got a Forester turbo sf5, put LPG bi fuel system(petrol and LPG 10%+90% injection) in for €2.2k and enjoy driving one of the best all around 90's turbo japanese goodness and dont have to worry about fuel cost.
In the US, LPG is less than petrol , however when you factor in the lower fuel economy of LPG, there is not much difference in cost per mile. I would imagine the reason LPG costs less in Europe is due to taxes, not because it's a cheaper fuel. Just like diesel fuel costs more in the US than petrol. Dad used to own a VW Jetta TDI and it got about 45 miles per US gallon which is roughly 4 liters. My Subaru gets 28 MPG. When figured in the cost of petrol versus diesel, there was no difference in cost per mile. Same with E85. It's cheaper but doesn't go as far. Right now 4 liters of petrol costs about $2.60.
You said 10 mm thick wall for the tanks. That'd be more for CNC gas which is methane. It doesn't liquify at LPG pressures . But it's possible that Britain n Europe have different standards to the Antipodes .
What are the better lpg systems to go for in the UK? Regards
Our options are getting fewer and fewer with every other year. It wouldn't be too long before LPG becomes as expensive as petrol and diesel.
The petrol lobby is mafia. Bastards
I Had a 220 000km Peugeot 207 (at the time I got 4000€ rebate because it was LPG) in 10 years with OEM BRC LPG, just had a single problem at 200 000 with "bleeding lung" fixed with 400€. Now on an Opel (Vauxall for britons) Corsa with Landi OEM LPG system. Run cheaper than petrol (comparable to diesel with diesel at 1,6€/L petrol at 1,7€/L and LPG at 0,7€/L) but with no traffic blocks, slightly cheaper fixed costs and more enjoyable driving experience. Also notice the oil: after 10k km on the oil (with petrol used just for start) is still "bottle-like" «chestnut» color run couple tanks of petrol and darkens quite a lot.
LPG, for what I've experienced, is clean, cost-effective, reliable and safe, the only drawback: no self-service refill, at least in Italy.
shame about the Omega :(
What killed off LPG more or less in Europe are the modern turbocharged diesel engines. 40% lower fuel cost for a 1.500£ premium. Those numbers are fairly similar to, what you can acheive with a diesel.
And you can acheive them without the drawback of a conversion, which eat into trunk space and causes possible maintenence issues. Typically the range on LPG is not that great either, while a modern diesel can do 600-800 miles, before you need to fill it up.
+fundiver198 alright, but when U look at maintenance of diesel is much worse with cost: turbocharge, clutch, common rail, oil pomp those parts are very expensive and needs to be replaced for every 50-80 thousand km depends of a make while petrol+lpg needs to replace spark plugs filters and oil which cost nothing to compare to diesel.
+qushtal oh please. If maintained properly those parts should go much further than that. My wife's car is approaching 100,000 miles (160,000 km) on the original turbo, clutch, oil pump and common rail. Lets break those parts down properly and see when they're likely to go.
Oil pump - should last the life of the engine. Petrol cars have an oil pump too.
Clutch - normally lasts between 50,000 and 150,000 miles (depending on the driver) - Petrol cars have these as well.
common rail. It's a piece of cast metal. Should last the life of the car.
Turbo. condition dependent on how the car is driven and maintained. If done properly should last 150,000 miles at least. Many petrol cars nowadays (Ford Ecoboost for example) are fitted with turbos.
ok, but most of the cars have double long life than 150k km.
cjmillsnun which car?
My dad had a holden v8 converted to gas that caught fire after only three days of owning it. Didn’t buy another till nearly 20 years later when he got a FG Falcon Ute in ecolipi
Will M Any problems with it now ?
Saw a photo of a car bomb in Baghdad. The only recognisable parts were the rear axle and the LPG tank. Looked dented but intact.
seriously you placed a spark inside a (confined) tank filled with only 2 liters (the important part is the gas vapors)? you really can't get any more biased than this.
+B.D.B. well most of the people on a budget don't fill up... i knpw people that the car is more time on the reserve than out of it...
Real scenario, with this prices everyone runs on red :)
you'd still need a spark inside the gas tank...
B.D.B. maybe a faulty pump could cause tjis?
B.D.B. I have a propane truck for 11 1/2 years it was my daily driver for 9 1\2 years. Air doesn't get into the fuel tank a match can't get into the fuel tank its a sealed pressure vessel... Your an idiot, the only time a propane truck is more dangerous than Petrol and diesel is when you mix Propane with Diesel inside the engine all other times it is much safer than diesel and petrol
I'm in the USA and I believe LPG is way safer and more beneficial to the environment and to prolong engine life. I would love to see more cars and trucks use lpg vs petrol. As far as diesel, I think a diesel/lpg hybrid would be the way to go! Diesel starts the engine at idle and once it reaches 15mph it switches over to lpg. Right now Americans are wanting to obsolete petrol and diesel, and only use hydrogen and electric cars. Those are fine choices but those systems are not fun to drive, they are quiet and very boring in my opinion. Atleast with lpg the engine is still roaring and you still get that adrenaline rush from hearing the tailpipe scream as you accelerate. Plus you still get that bond with the vehicle because you can still upgrade the engine and add a turbo or supercharger to create more power. Whereas electric and hydrogen your out of luck, you get what you get.
Maybe diesel can run on pure LPG, the octane rating is good. The very rare conversion jobs here for diesel had the fuel at maximum of 30% LPG the rest being diesel. But conversion for diesel was many thousands cost. Great advantage in performance and reduced smoke emissions . Hard to justify the conversion cost though except if clean emissions is an issue.
Once woman went in the garage and said. "In my car is weird smell which make me ill. Can you check it?" Repairman did it and recognize that car carpets was soak of petrol.
Fairly practical LPG example. There's no way you got 2 liters of gasoline to blast like that.
They do, because the gas is the flammable bit of the gasoline, if the gas tank is full, there's no room for gas.
I think mythbusters had an episode of that
@@juancitobentos6351 No. They used Det-cord.
"This just takes the biscuit"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great!!!!! Your video
Personally I'd use a thick wall that could take a lot of pressure... around the power unit. The fuel tank itself would be made of the same material and the engine itself would be a Diesel with indirect injection and a compression ratio so high that it could start on injected LPG. The input to the sealed power unit would be two oil-changes worth of oil, LPG at the refueling station, and air, the output would be electricity, and the exhaust would be a blackwater oil tank.
Problem?
Note to self: you're smoking crack.
I think I saw that quarry in Dr. Who.
My 74 f100 runs on lpg I love it.
Late but i want to add this in case someone thinks about going the LPG route. I used to drive LPG and there are some downsides. Because it is a gas and not a liquid there is less cooling and it burns hotter. This means that your valves may get damaged by the heat if you don't regularly adjust your valves. Since it burns hotter the whole engine wears quicker especially the head and replacing that is quite expensive wich might not be covered with the money saved on fuel. and oh yeah don't go high revs..
LPG doesn't burn hotter, it burns for longer
in my country, truck to Bus,pickup to sedan, sports car to minivan all are running in LPG.110 vehicle out of 100 running in LPG.Welcome to Bangladesh
My 2007 Subaru Legacy which i bought last year i think has a factory installed LPG (Ecomatic). Its having a hard time starting when LPG is on. It starts fine on petrol. But on a cold start with LPG it takes a couple of seconds of holding the key. Anyone know if this is normal ?
Should be normal, most LPG-systems start with gasoline and switch to LPG after the coolant has reached a certain temperature. I think the problem is that you just can't have as rich a mixture with LPG as with gasoline.
still running lpg now at 55p/L in me van
Considering not boring LPG - I've seen one Mazda RX8 with engine swapped to "normal" 1.8 Turbo with LPG installation on market in Poland :D .
Midaspl rubbish also rx8 came out n/a very few rx8 are turbo you have know clue clown
Gaz Girl What?
Wankel engine running in LPG ?!?
making an already unreliable car even less reliable
Gaz Girl You have no clue clown. You say there were few factory turbocharged RX8 produced but you're wrong. No RX8 came with a turbocharger from factory.
LPG car is more effective, more green, cheaper and keep engine work longer, known, that you should change good quality oil, but it's standart talking about car service, but you can change oil on higher mileage. In my case, I bought car about 16 years of use, by two owners, one Netherlands and one from Lithuania. Mileage was not so far from 300k kms. I used this japan car from 2014 till now, so 4 year and about 120k kms only on LPG and it works fantastic. This car was made with instant LPG installation. It's mazda 626 1998 and its perfect considering comfort, service costs, complectation and gas price. Engine works only for several minutes to heat LPG mechanism. Average 100km price is just about 4,5 euro and low emmision which meets euro 4 or 5
got a volvo c70 t5 running on LPG , brc kit, 50l tank. ( 40l fill ) got it off ebay.. done 20k miles in the last two years and saved about £4k madness it's not got a bigger market.
What about power, do you get as much performance out of the engine if you have LPG?
Yes, but only if you take advantage of LPGs much higher Octane rating, higher compression or more boost pressure.
Generally speaking, yes, you will loose some power with most conversions, as they only set up the system and adjust it to the engine. However, modern LPG systems don't have this problem, they will produce the same power as a regular gasoline engine. Moreover, if that is something you care about, you can take advantage of the higher octane rating of 105-115 ROZ, depending on the exact mixture, which is higher than the best octane rating at gas stations that I'm aware of.
Yes. Slightly more performance with modern cars actually. I drive a Ford FG Falcon. The petrol version uses about 390Nm of torque where the LPG version uses over 400Nm of torque. Slight improvement. 🙂
6500 LPG stations in Poland only.
Australian taxis are LPG also.
What moron approved the scheme of LPG conversions NOT being done by authorised licensed fitters?!?!?
I had a mechanic tell me that LPG burns so cleanly, he routinely sees engines that have done very high mileage, but are in great condition compared to a similar car run on petrol for the same distance.
Useless politicians
I had bought a new Suzuki wagon r petrol car 3 months back, can I convert to lpg now.
nooooooooo!!! poor omega :(

@@dariusas204 Well... compare to mazda. Omega is deffinetly superior... compared to bmw... they are mostly same(if we won't count special equipment that was offered from factory), but bmw is far more expensive from all sides.
The experiment is actually wrong as petrol itself is not flammable, petrol vapour is flammable so having less petrol in the fuel tank increases the amount of petrol vapour so it increases the chance of a fire. So if Jonny had 20 litres of petrol instead of 2 litres the explosion would have been smaller.
Yep, an empty tank is a dangerous thing no matter what it has in it
Can Özdemir yea you're right. An empty petrol tank causes the biggest explosions. Most people think petrol is super flammable instead it's not it's the vapors!
He said that what he was trying to simulate was a faulty fuel line, which is what had caused those LPG explosions.
i thought ypu were busy in politic in germany... do youhave time to write here?.
1:45 what was that burst?
I would consider doing such a thing
The Japanese LPG taxis are far more safer than expected. There was a serious accident happened in Hong Kong 2012 involving a Toyota Crown Comfort LPG taxi and there was still no LPG leakage. Watch v=vQSsTRpSINA At 3:25 you can see the totally damaged taxi.
Remove before Flight. Have that one for my car keys lol
For anyone watching - this result of the explosion isn't true to life at all!
What I mean by that - if the car had an actual tank full of LPG,that's leaking and you lit a cigarette next to it,your body parts would be splattered hunderds of meters away! Be careful and maintain your lpg system,if you have such!
How about BEV FTW?
I have LPG car in Serbia.
System must be installed vy proffesional, govermant lab tested and retested after 5 years. After 10 years new LPG tank must be installed.
Cons of having LPG:
Less boot space. My is fitted in spare tire area, but still, I have to put spare in the boot.
Car is lazier. I have old intake mixer system that is lazy to respond and looses power at high rpm, while low end torque is terrible. It is best in midrange.
Filing stations in some countries are sparce. I did make a lap around the Baltic with LPG car. I had no LPG fillups from Russia to Stokholm. I spent half of my fuel money in Finland and Sweden. Finland has none at all, Danmark just 5 stations. In Sweden only at household gas tank refill stores have it.
wait. are you guys riding a taxi from Tokyo to UK?
They both drive on the left.
Most of the cars in my country runs on lpg and it's safe
What about at idle and slow traffic .. does LPG cars burn less gas then petrol fueled cars, under those conditions?
Burns more, My 1.8T Skoda on gas at idle burns 1.2L/h and with LPG 2.1L/h (Both with AC) but in highway is 9L/km in gas and 14 L/km LPG. But here gas is about 4 pounds and LPG 1.8 pounds.
It will always burn more.
I will second Rafael.
It does burn more, but instead of measuring fuel, you should measure cost-per-mileage.
Cost wise i actually measured it to be very similar to a diesel car, but will all the benefits on running a petrol car.
One thing you cannot compare to a diesel is the mileage autonomy. There is just nothing you can do about it, unless you install a very large LPG tank. With many diesels running for 800+ Km with a full tank of gas, the paltry 400Km (average (LPG only/mostly, i could still have a full tank of petrol if the LPG ran out, but that sort of defeats the point of it all)) i get on my 46L tank doesn't look like much, but like i said, for the same distance, the cost is similar.
The thing is - there is less energy in LPG than in diesel or petrol! So if you need the same amount of energy (which you do, because you're doing the same speed / acceleration) you will need more LPG to provide that.
This is the reason of higher consumption on LPG.
If you take this reasoning - on idle you need a certain amount of ENERGY to keep the engine running. So, more LPG than petrol or diesel.
@@Torchi0 14 L/km ? Sounds waaay too much for such a little engine.
In my opinion Diesel is probably better if you commute by car everyday. We have a BMW X5 30d. Hardly drinks, and is quite powerful. We only need to fill up every 3 weeks maximum (if you're driving conservatively of course). And in terms of getting ignited? Well, anyone who has seen the misfiling video by Fifth gear or knows a lot about cars will know that Diesel is incredibly difficult to ignite. Perhaps the next time you think about buying a new car, think about a Diesel.
New Secondhand?!
Bloody hell! Foreshadowing
We Aussies use log a lot or atleast in my region, it's fucking everywhere and I've got a Ford falcon lpg

it's nice that a e36 325i eats 5euro / 100km..
Growing up in Hong Kong where these taxis are normal makes you realise what people see as weird and innovative we just saw as normal, Crown Comfort > Cedric
Yeah try closing the windows and on the leaking lpg not opening a quarter of all four windows.
I don't see 15% loss , it's supposed to be a 31 mpg to 29mpg.. but basically I get the same or more.. motorway milage is a huge bonus
wao i love my car more after this video i have a kia k5 2014 lpg
2 litres of petrol? I'll bet less than 1/4 litre of petrol actually burned in that fire.
The rest is vapour, faaaaaaaar more dangerous.
The fumes are the flammable part of gasoline, if a tank is full to the top, there's no room for fumes in the tank, so it doesnt explode, although it could catch fire if for example a fuel line burns.
In other hand, if a tank is almost empty, the whole tank is full of fumes, if a spark ignites it, it'll explode
my car did a huge backfire. damn LPG scares the shit outta me
Its clearly tuned wrong, the same way a petrol car backfires when badly tuned.
폭발물로 고물차 폐쇄 대처법이 최고였지
Here in Serbia, we are running on LPG for many years now. However, believe it or not, nowadays it's not a cheaper fuel because our government is making redundant taxes for atests for those tanks and some extra taxes...
what about CNG ? here in iran more than half of the cars are CNG
Poor Omega... :-(
Aye. The Omega is no more. It has been replaced by the Insignia.
@@MrSupercar55 not true it was replaced by The vectra
TMR_MEDIA 69 no the Cavalier was replaced by the Vectra which in turn was replaced by the Insignia. The Omega has never had a successor.
You try and take an LPG car through the channel tunnel!!
Ferry is just as easy.
The problem is, that because LPG is a byproduct from plastic production, you indirectly make the second most CO2 rich industries more powerful....
It's a german car...next time you have to put beer inside
liquified petrol beer? lpb
Would it change the sound of the engine switching to LPG? Like if you put an LPG system on a 1970s Dodge Challenger, would it ruin the authenticity f the car?
+Martin Lutz
no, the sound doesn't change
Kerekes Imre
and does it affect the performance?
+Martin Lutz
only a little bit, near to the top speed, with a small 2000ccm, 90 Hp engine. but with a V8 i think you will feel nothing.
+Martin Lutz No difference in sound and performance, says my uncle. He has an Chevy Big Block 454
7,4 L engine. Running on LPG & Gas.
Authenticity? Yeah it ruins that, will still sound the same, economy will be down a little (his 15% is about right for fuel injection with a mixer), however the octane rating for LPG is 115 ish, meaning you can run a much higher compression tune without problems.
You didn't do a speed comparison
TL;DW: in a worst case scenarios LPG is actually way safer than usual petrol.
What 75 pence that's $1.50 AUD LMAO I was paying 13 cents a litre for LPG back in Australia
I would think running lpg would increase the life expectancy of a petrol engined vehicle, dramatically. Petrol injected into a cylinder will dilute the oil viscosity this in turn puts wearing of the cylinder bore giving bore ovality , creating burning oil and a knackerd ice.
Petrol should be a vaporised gas by the time its in the cylinders (like lpg), if it is washing the cylinder walls of oil you most likely have faulty injectors that are just squirting rather than spraying a fine mist.
Que pena por el omega 😞
10mm steel is more for methane than lpg
That's not actually true. Lpg is heavier then air. Tanks are set up with a drop hole. With the cabin side being gasket sealed. So a leaky valve will drop the lpg out the bottom to open air to be blown away by the wind
Donut tanks being the boot floor and cyl tanks the valve area sealed in a container and pipe run to outside.
can I rev as high as petrol? can the power stay the same as using petrol?
+jamesgjt it all depends on the conversion, in fact you can even rev it more with lpg than with normal petrol, but that depends on the conversion (job) that has been done.
+jamesgjt Also depends on what kind of gas system you have, injected gas would give more power than vapour gas system
Same power for the same tune, you will use a bit more, LPG has much higher octane rating though, 115, that's very high, so you can run a higher compression, getting a lot more power for less $ per k/m. It can dry head gaskets though, bear that in mind
Travis Smith Can i lose antifreeze if the head gasket is dry (I drive a normal lpg car-without the injection(there are explosions in the collector from time to time)
On good system properly installed (with properly mapped ECU) you get more power on LPG than on petrol thanks to higer octane rating around 110 RON-90MON (100 American Octane Number) compared to normal 95RON/85MON (90 American Octane Number).
