    man I love LeBron. I am from Cleveland and I can honestly say that I miss him and I hope he comes back to play with the Cavs soon! :) Home games havent been the same without him, although Kyrie is bringing that energy back. But LeBron is the best to ever play in Ctown. You have def grown into a fine, mature young man Bron. I love that you never forget where u came from and that u always give back to your hometown. Such a great role model! Keep it up!!!!

    I'm almost certain West was a combo guard who mostly played the point. There is some confusion over what position to list him as because in those days point guards didn't score like Jerry West. But he was a point guard. Basketball reference, for example, lists his position as point guard for 12 out of the 14 seasons he played. And this makes sense considering the fact that there were some years when he averaged almost 10 assists per game.

    I live in Ohio work in Cleveland watched my sister graduate from Akron and have always been a Lebron fan and this mite sound crazy but when he left Cleveland i was happy. I wanted to see him succeed i was sick of the celtics knocking us out with there BIG 3 and lets face it Cleveland. its hard to get good players to come to are city. But i never burned a jersey called him a trader because hes a good person and is aloud to make any choice he wants and look what he did for Akron and Cleveland alot. Dan Gilbert can fuck off he built the Horse Shoe Casino in Cleveland and was gonna market it around Lebron and he would t of seen a penny of it. I would love to see him in a cavs jersey but alot of people in this city owe him a apology.

      Really LOVE Lebron but MJ.....he just IS BASKETBALL.
      If you look at the careers MJ never left his team just to win rings. He gathered the people around him by attracting them to himself.
      I think at the moment there is absolutely NO PLAYER in the NBA who has the potential to overcome MJ as the GOAT. Closest might be Kawhi but he is at the SPURS....that dude is playing at a quality organisation since day one...so no either.

  • @uberhikari
    @uberhikari 10 лет назад

    Right, my mistake. I meant to say 10 of his 11; I got his rings confused with how many years he played.
    Hmmm... I don't know. My intuition tells me that West comes before Wade, at least that's the way I have it on my all time list. But wasn't West a combo guard who mostly played the point?

    The Bad Boys really helped MJ become the player that he became, at least in terms of winning. The beat him up so bad that he had to start lifting weights which made him a stronger player. The Pistons also taught him that if you don't use your teammates, you will not win. Lebron was blessed with both from Day 1. A powerful, teammate oriented player. He just didn't have anyone to help him in Cleveland.

    No, I think you got me wrong... I thought of the first threpeat, not the 96-98 Bulls, that's a different thing. By the way, 96-98 MJ is just a good tribute to '91-'93. MJ. What I said is that for his first title he head to beat 2 of very toughest 80's teams, besides Celtics. I mean, taking Pistons in their title year to game 7 is quite an achievement, is it? In 1991. Pistons still a force in the playoffs, as were Lakers. It's Bulls maturing more than league getting so weak suddenly ;) cheers

    I've done google searches on "best point guards of all time" and "best shooting guards of all time." Sometimes West appears on the list for shooting guards and sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes he appears on the list for point guards and sometimes he doesn't. The same thing with Allen Iverson: sometimes he's on the point guard list and sometimes he's not; sometimes he's on the shooting guard list and sometimes he's not.
    I think that because West was a combo guard people are simply confused.

    Sorry, I was looking at his stats per 36 minutes. You're right, in '03 he averaged 6 assists per game and in '05 he averaged 5.7. But Garnett didn't get those numbers until his 8th season. Bird was averaging 5.5 assists per game in his 2nd season and he averaged 7 assists per game in the NBA Finals. As a PF Bird averaged 5.6 assists per game.
    Moreover, Garnett was averaging 4.5 assists per game in Minnesota and his career average is 3.9, so his time in Boston didn't bring him down that much.

    Not quite. Elgin Baylor and Jerry West were in LA before Wilt Chamberlain. By the time Wilt got to LA it was '68-'69. By that time Bill Russell had already won 12 of his 13 championships. '68-'69 was the only time Wilt, West, and Baylor played Bill Russell because that was the year Bill Russell retired.
    As for Wilt cracking under pressure, I don't know. I'm not old enough to have ever seen him play and I don't think any video of entire games from that era exist.

    It was more physical back then but so was football. The only difference is that hitting is one of the rules in football which was never the case for basketball. Stockton wasn't known for his defense i personally think Kyrie would make him look silly. Payton n Isiah are a different story but u also have Rose, CP3, Rondo, Parker, Curry, Lawson, Williams, n Westbrook who are far more athletic who could assists and score. Not to mention there was no zone defense in the 90's.

  • @uberhikari
    @uberhikari 10 лет назад

    I just find it interesting because you sort of think the same way I do. We both think that D-Wade might be better than Jerry West but on your all-time list West is ahead of Wade. And that's how I feel: Wade might be better than West but not above him on the all-time list. It's just weird. I don't understand how Isaiah, Dr. J. or Moses Malone could be ahead of Shaq though. That's also interesting.

Bird/Magic were basically done, Kobe/Shaq were struggling to gel and even get to the finals to meet the Bulls and Kobe was in his early years. There were the Rockets and the Knicks as well however.

  • @uberhikari
    @uberhikari 10 лет назад

    I never said rings were the only thing that matter; but they're the most important thing. Rings > Finals MVP's > MVP's.
    Also, Bird never 3-peated because he was constantly fighting against Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar + James Worthy.
    And Bird doesn't have as many MVP's as LBJ but he did dominate the league by winning it 3 straight years from 1984-1986.
    Finally, most importantly, Bird never choked in the Finals like LBJ did in 2011. If LBJ wins another ring he'll be equal to Bird.

  • @uberhikari
    @uberhikari 10 лет назад

    Rings are overrated? Greatness is defined by how you perform on the biggest stage, in the biggest moments. The point of ALL professional sports is to WIN. It's almost impossible to overrate the importance of rings.
    Also, the competition does matter because your greatness is defined by who you beat. Bird was going up against a Lakers dynasty at the time that had Magic Johnson (best PG of all time), KAJ (probably the best center of all time), and James Worthy.

    Yes it is true that Russell had better player with him IN THE FIRST HALF of that rivalry. But that changed when Wilt had Jerry West and Elgin Baylor on his team. Wilt had great individual stats no doubt. Russell is 10-0 in elimination games vs Wilt. That stat is one that means something! Russell saved his best ball when it mattered most. Wilt (sorry for the term), wilted under pressure situations. He didnt want the ball.

    I would say the 80s was a better brand of basketball than the mid to late 90s. Specifically, 1985 to 1993 had the best teams, players, and rivalries than any other period of the modern era of the NBA. In 1988 you had Larry Bird just slightly passed his prime, Magic in his prime and MJ entering his prime. You had the Bad Boy Pistons, Celtics, Lakers and MJs Bulls. No period of basketball can match that. With that said I still feel that Lebron is just as good as those 3 players.

    Centers can't bring up the ball like a point guard either, but do we hold that against them? No.
    Was Lebron's court vision better? Maybe, but that's debatable considering that Bird was averaging 5.5 assists as a power forward, which is unheard of.
    And LBJ is certainly a more versatile defender than Bird, so I'll give him that. As for being more versatile in general? Not really. Like I said, Bird was as good a scorer, a better shooter, a better rebounder, and almost as good a passer.

    Now, it's possible for someone with less rings to be ranked ahead of someone with more rings, which is why Jordan ranks ahead of Bill Russell, but in order for that to happen you have to actually be on a higher level than that person. In what way is LBJ, just in terms of individual skill, CLEARLY better than Bird? In Bird's prime he was just as good a scorer, a better rebounder than LBJ his entire career, and almost as good a passer. Plus, he was no slouch on defense either.

    The 90's was more of a big man era cause u had Shaq, Olajuwon, Ewing, Robinson, Mutombo, Mourning, n Divac. Far better centers in the 90's than now that's for sure. With that said I think the game evolved everywhere else. Look at how many great PG's play in the game today. It was never like that in MJ's era. How many rookies in MJ's era played like Kyrie? How many 6'10 Forwards in MJ's era had a better jumper than KD? The players are far more athletic in today's game
