Just viewed this tutorial........ thank you for being thorough and easy to follow. Automation made easy, this is a fantastic tutorial, keep them coming. Thank You
Well done, Becky! Almost all tutors skip steps, leaving the student frustrated. You attend to detail with delightful clarity. Perhaps you will share your expertise on mixing tracks; since the presenters in all the videos I have watched ramble on endlessly, promising info about setting levels but then offering no useful info. I set the peak amplitude of the lead voice to -6dB then adjust the accompanying tracks, one by one during playback. The 32-bit float option protects against clipping when mixed down to stereo. In mastering, the final headroom is 0.10dB. Most of the accompaniment tracks are about -9dB or lower. But after that, I find myself adding compression or using a limiter to feature fills, etc. But what a labor that is. No doubt you have a more expedient method.
This was the perfect video on a perfect day. I was so confused why my recorded automation wasn't visible, and it was, of course, in clip view! I count myself lucky to follow your videos!
Very useful info! Automation is so easy in Ableton Live. Something I've learned about making electronic music that feels organic and alive is: automate, automate, automate.
Thank you, Becky! This was very helpful for me. Especially where you covered the Linked and Unlinked loop features. Often time finishing a song comes down to how efficient I am. So thank you for showing me how to be more efficient. Thank you for your time! Happy New Year. Get well soon. LIKED
Yeah unlinked opens up a whole range of possibilities for sound sculpting and live performance. You're very welcome. I'm glad you appreciate the video and thank you for taking the time to comment. It means a lot.
Thanks for the sub Arthur and for the lovely feedback. Appreciate the criticism and noted. I did think this myself on a few occassions. Appreciate you highlighting it too. Will remember to adjust for next time. 😊
Call me crazy but I could've sworn that in a previous build we could hover over the automation value bubble, click it and enter values directly from the keyboard. For the life of me I can't seem to edit the value bubble's data in version 11 unless I drag the automation curve around with the mouse. It was so much easier to just key in a +/-1db value to an automation lane.
Very nice but can´t i record the clips pitch automation? That´s the one thing i want to automate the most! And i mean recording that by turning knob in my midi controller, not painting that envelope.
How do I select a "box" of points? Like click / drag select, pretty standard stuff, but it selects all the points in that time selection. Am I missing something?
Hello, I have a question. How do I move a track with its automation included? I mean when I move a track, its automation doesn't move so it's kinda annoying
Hi i downloaded some preset rack when i try to. Open ableton Say no compatibility version i have the latest standard 11 version , what is wrong . Thanks
You must be psychic - I recently ran into an unusual issue with Automation, and I'm wondering if you might have an answer: - I grouped two audio tracks so I could affect both clips - added a ShaperBox 2 plugin to the Group track - added a Volume Shaper to repeat a level envelope for 1/2 a bar across two bars total - automated the ShaperBox Mix slider inside the Arrangement view, so the effect would go from 100% to 0% across the two bars This was working lovely until I saved and quit, came back to it an hour later, and it wouldn't work. The automation changes were still showing, the red dot on the parameter was still there, but the change wouldn't play - audio from both clips was still playing fine. What keyboard shortcut did I accidentally press 😬 to disable the Automation? PS - sorry to hear you're sick - hope it wasn't COVID again. Be well!
I switch to Ableton from Logic X and I haven't regretted the decision one bit. I slightly prefer the UI of the comping in Logic but now that there's a comping feature in Ableton 11, it's really the leading DAW in my opinion.
@@BeckySaifMusic well im glad everyone has the same opinion on switching lol, the only thing holding me back was fls piano roll, but al really shines everywhere else!
Great, thank you. Recording it live is what I like. Just changed from Reaper to Ableton.

Whooo! Automation! :D
Woooooo 🥳
Thanks for sharing this, one of the best automation videos I've seen! Subscibed!
Thanks for the sub Arthur and for the lovely feedback. Appreciate the criticism and noted. I did think this myself on a few occassions. Appreciate you highlighting it too. Will remember to adjust for next time. 😊
can you also draw automations instead of linking points - like in fl studio in the piano roll?
Call me crazy but I could've sworn that in a previous build we could hover over the automation value bubble, click it and enter values directly from the keyboard. What is backseat producing mean? Giving an opinion?
Basically giving unsolicited direction
I am your 1K-th like 😅

Nice but not deep enough.. how about audiotrack in sessionview. How to automate the track fader
How do I select a "box" of points? Like click / drag select, pretty standard stuff, but it selects all the points in that time selection. Am I missing something?
I'm not quite sure what you mean. Did you manage to figure it out?
Hello, I have a question. How do I move a track with its automation included?
I mean when I move a track, its automation doesn't move so it's kinda annoying
There's a little lock icon at the top of the track mixer sections. To the right of the screen. Click it. 😊
@@BeckySaifMusic ahh I see, thank you
Hi i downloaded some preset rack when i try to. Open ableton Say no compatibility version i have the latest standard 11 version , what is wrong . Thanks
Which preset rack did you download? One of mine?
@@BeckySaifMusic non not yours but i found the solution , Big thanks for ur reply .

Is the automation line grey? You may have to re-enable automation, which is on the top bar to the right of the play/stop/rec controls.
@@BeckySaifMusic And this is the look of embarrassment - 🙄- Thanks for a quick solution to a simple problem! Helpful as always!!! Thanks lots!
@@moreorlesto haha no worries. Glad it worked 😊 it happens a lot to a lot of us.
Which Keyboard?😂😂...I totally agree 💯❤️🩹❤️🔥
oops i watched this out of order (INFLUENCE)
switching from fl, abelton is so straight forward, but coming from fl thats confusing lmao
