Unfortunately I cannot post a picture.
The hinges that connect the display to the main body are usually fixed with 3 screws. The one that holds the lower body and two that you can see in the inside. If those get loose and fall out the hinges push the lower body apart and it breaks.

18 months of careful, safe use and one of my hinges busted, the hard drive corrupted and the manufacturer and retailer aren't covering it. Would not recommend Acer products!

There is a special HDD connector on the board. Acer sells a SATA cable to connect an SSD plus they have an SSD bracket

It is a shame this model is not upgradable -- I had to buy this model in a pinch for my wife for work seeing how covid changed how people do business. Anyway, it is not a bad machine! It works as advertised and is pretty responsive considering the price (I think we even found a killer deal via Slickdeals). We have found its limitations to be rather easily reached. Having Chrome open alone can send the CPU usage to 100% and the RAM doesn't lack too far behind. That is a recipe for much heat. Not having upgradable storage is a bit odd too with the only type of remedy being a micro SD slot which will need filling. I can tell they wanted an easy-to-operate machine that is also slim and versatile and Acer did it! Just could have used a bit more thought and love imo
I think they do it to get some deal with Microsoft on the operating system.

Sadly no :( there might be data recovery places that can remove the memory chip from the board, but it'll be several hundred dollars to over a thousand.
How very informative video. I have the same video my screen doesn't work I want to take the HD out ,put it in a hd enclosure to get my files off of my C Drive can you assist me with that. I can't find the HD.

Hi the HDD drive bay can be upgraded with a sata ssd 2.5inch but can i know where the ram slot's are? In windows it shows that 4 of 4 slots are used so was just wondering
Windows shows 4 of 4 slots used, and my video and the title show? I don't think it's even possible to fit 4 sticks of RAM in the laptop, even if you take the motherboard out. Lol Even most gaming laptops don't have 4 RAM slots. I don't know why Windows shows that.
I tripped on my power cord and now the charger doesn't want to stay in the charging port. So, I need to replace the charging port. Does anyone have instructions on how to do this? Is soldering involved?

So basicly if the emmc dies you need to change the whole mainboard? Because there are no way(except usb) to conenct another drive.
And BTW, where is the emmc on this board? :)
Correct, but I don't know the answer to your question. You could always boot an external boot device like Linux. :P
how do l fix my spin it does not rotate well any more into tablet mode if l try to spin it its like l am trying to open up the screen ...........

My Acer Spin 1 has stopped working with "No Bootable Device" on start-up. My partner wants me to extract all the data from the hard-drive. How would i do this?
Sounds like the drive is dead. You might have to send it to a data recovery place. I recommend 300dollardatarecovery. You could also try a usb adapter for your drive to connect it to another computer.
I was told by two places the drive is inaccessible and nobody else could extract anything either so returned it to staples without destroying anything, hoping there's no risk of data mining :(
Can i remove the SSD and put it in a different computer in order to recover the data?

You should be able to get a usb enclosure to put it in.

How do I reset it without password. The f10 alt and power does not work to reset
you need to create a bootable Windows installer.
I have a laptop that turns off when I unplug it. It charged my battery from 0-100%, and it says battery is 100%, but it also says no battery inside. My laptop has a blue led, but it now flashes between green and red. This started happening after I installed a new SSD. I updated my bios and did a fresh windows 10 install. What do you think the problem is? Can't find drivers for battery. Removed the battery for half hour and placed back, same problem persists. What do you think the problem is? It's a Samsung laptop

Does this model have bios? Tried looking for the cmos battery but pulling this laptop apart seems sketchy
I don't think so. It might use the main battery for that. What are you trying to do?
@@ItsBinhRepaired I found a work around. You access bios you need to go to settings->update and security->recovery and select restart. Then select troubleshoot. Laptop will load into bios.
I was trying to install Linux and needed to boot from the usb. All went well. Seeing this laptop isn’t upgradeable why not try Linux since it uses less resources and power. 😊👍

still nothing what the cause of my laptop that wouldn't turning on but when i press the switch button led blue comes on but not all the function..

@@ItsBinhRepaired ur dead wrong. I've just got it delivered to me and checked - you can upgrade ram, there is one slot under the battery(unplug the battery, take it out and you will see)

You can replace the eMMC chip, but it's a pain in the ass since it's in a BGA package.

That sucks, can't even upgrade ssd. Why Acer, why... My c drive is full just from windows updates, got nothing else on it and can't even install new updates. I've been booting Ubuntu off a 128gb SD card instead lol
Have to create a Windows bootable USB with the latest version and then do a clean install. They get a cheaper deal from Microsoft when they make computers useless...or at least they did that back when they had those useless netbooks.

@@ItsBinhRepaired So my Acer notebook was working fine, it gave me a notification to say that the battery is low. I plugged it in and I didn't check to see if it was charging and I continued working and then it died. So I just check the charger to see what was wrong but everything is plugged in and has strong enough current. Now it's not charging at all. No orange light or anything.
What could be the problem?
Possibly the charge port is bad

And that could be a huge factor because the casing that covers the charge port broke off a few days ago. so I'm seeing a piece of the board at the charge port thingy.
And it has broken bios, cannot install linux.
