If you’re in pursuit, especially in a high traffic area, why would you not use your emergency lights or sirens?

Prevention.
@@AquaFyrre see, now you look goofy. Where did I claim they never used their emergency lights?
Why on earth would you go pursue a suspect going to a drive thru.
you don't have to be particularly intelligent to be a LEO
The cops are first time in America
Goes through the drive thru could have been four or five cars blocking.
Exactly what I thought
Exactly, that was a stupid move. These guys made lots of tactical mistakes in these pursuit.
Then they would just get on PA to have all the cars drive out of drive thru. Its just food haha
PA Move move move....@@ParkerMac
PA Move move move....
As former LEO this is painful to watch. Either these guys are very green, or LAPD has fallen so far, that training people properly has gone out the window. No lights or sirens, going through a drive through, after being told not to. And then just everything.
It's California, the "Always be nice to criminals" state.
Same. But it’s the DA’s that are the real threat to the safety of the officers and the innocent public, creating this hesitation to use force. Voters need to wake up.
Retired Omaha Police here. Yeah it was was bad and reckless.
he was white they gave him a chance to survive
LAPD hasn’t been a good organization since the 90’s after I left it. Sad to say this but it’s the truth. The lack of common sense in policing has created this debacle we just saw. They were in violation of LAPD policy by not having their emergency lights on while going in and out of traffic. If they caused a traffic collision it’s their fault by influence and that’s days off and EVOC retraining if they do that these days. Their radio broadcasting skills and a lack of a tactical plan is pathetic. But nothing new here!
I was surprised at first; they did NOT use their lights (or sirens) and just yelled at people and beeped their horn.
If the suspect is mental those lights and sirens could tip him over the edge.....
@JohnSmith-yv6eq without emergency lights how is anyone supposed to know that they are chasing a suspect?
Lights and sirens are to stop vehicles. Just stop obsessing.
@@martinover7927 It's also to get them out of the way. It's more effective than the officer yelling inside their vehicle.
@@martinover7927 they are also to inform other motorists that an emergency vehicle is approaching and to get out of the way
These police officers need extensive training, they prolonged the chase that could have ended so much earlier putting the public at risk letting the lunatic run around with a knife on his hand.
it is all politics, not training related at all.
This country being run under Democrats and liberals! Are you out of your mind? If these police would’ve ended the threat right away, they would’ve been on a hot seat. And BLM and Antifa would’ve been burning down the city.
@@ts7135they were in pursuit for over 2 minutes before they first used their emergency lights.
@@ts7135 dude they called air support for a guy in a bottle in their hand. They were 2 with guns vs 1 guy with a bottle in his hand. They waited too long and put everyone in risk. If that guy charged the police they could easily shoot him.
Thank you for taking the time to answer fully the whys and the wherefores.
I really believe in using the PA to give instructions
e.g. "Driver, pull over and stop on the left hand kerbside about 1/2 a mile ahead where it is safe to do so.
Move to your left now I will stop traffic and allow you to move.
Move now.
Stop now."

I agree if certain words are censored the situation is difficult to comprehend objectively. Police don’t have it easy.

@ykmjc I know right? They literally called air support for a guy with a bottle in his hand. If you are a cop you need to be prepared to be the one who will take damage from the suspect. They let him running around the city endangering citizens around.

Wait he had a knife and nobody got out to chase him?
Less psychologically threatening and thereby not forcing a confrontation until backup arrives with other options (beanbag gun, multiple tazers, long rifle for accurate shot placement in case of hostage situation?)
Yeah but any of those corners he turned could have had pedestrians walking through. In a sense the cops got very lucky, it could have escalated even worse.

The quiet communities here in Albuquerque have become infested with criminals and rampant crimes.
Calabasas is getting bad, how about that Mexican guy who randomly socked an older man pushing a baby in a stroller & he also socked up a 14 year old kid. He was from Oxnard but causing trouble in Calabasas.
Those cops were a joke....
They were trying not to kill the suspect or force a confrontation...
Listen to this cop breathing all hard scared as can be and they're in a vehicle and the guys running from him with a knife
They are far more worried by possible civilian casualties and being forced to shoot...
staying in the car might psychologically be less threatening to the deranged suspect...
but has to be balanced against the possibility of a member of the public being hurt or killed or taken hostage...
and therefore forcing them to shoot him?
It’s called adrenaline.
It’s like letting a rabid dog run into a school. The unarmed citizens are counting on them for protection, but the cops are worried about getting charged by Gascon for use of force.

Scared sheep police. Join the force knowing the dangers , when danger strikes , they turn into sheep.
@Jessuschrist Yeah, right...
Well, it’s plain as day, when any video shows the cops in a positive light it’s released immediately. But if it show cops in a negative light, for some reason it needs to be held for review, or disappears completely.

So this criminal stabs cruiser and the cops don't get out to neutralize the situation?? Turn sound off and queue Benny Hill music.
Are these really cops?
Those 2 first cops had absolutely NO IDEA what they were doing. Dumb call after dumb call. The driver was clearly scared and felt safe in the car. And how in the hell do you not know where your taser is?
Damn this cop breathing hard just from driving ?
I think the guy could have been in the Olympics ?
Not now if they still test for drugs.
Why drive through the drive through, there is always a car there

That may all depend on what the suspect is.

1:34 cop totally forgets that he has lights and sirens but gets angry at the person when they stop at the 2 stop signs. smfh.
Half the people were probably high five ing him😅
Well they lost their tempers kind of fast near that McDonald's. They love the adrenaline it gets them and cooler heads need to prevail
Yeah, watching that my major complaint is the yelling and dangerously whipping by somebody following the law and not blatantly running 2 stop signs.
I mean, you can see him lose his traction and almost spin the cruiser when he did that anger acceleration. He nearly caused an accident for thinking it was some random person's obligation to blow stop signs for him.

The police should be held accountable for every foul word coming out of their mouth. They represent the people. They should act like it instead of talking like thugs.
This whole situation could have been avoided if they had proper training. Can't stress enough how trying to apprehend the suspect was poorly executed. Way too many scenarios that could have happened to innocent citizens.
Says the person without nothing to back it up.
It's called video
A lot of odd things in this video 1. . then not using their siren in the parking lot and drive through 3. Its not illegal to have a knife ... 2. if for some reason the suspect was threatening people in that area and called the cops I wonder why LAPD would have shown up as Calabasas is not LAPD jurisdiction ( Its the Sheriff's )
