@@TheSportsCardDad I feel that some of the greatest cards of the greatest athletes of our generations are way undervalued. They should be going for way more than a common wemby psa 10. However supply and demand are key factors. Huge supply not necessarily huge demand. If you were collecting during the junk wax era, we know how this story ends
It's all a gamble and that is what kids are learning you might as well take them to a casino. It is an addiction. Rookie cards in football right now are too over priced. I would never pay $300 for a Caleb Williams rc to me it's worth about $5 to $20 at tops depending on the card, not $300. Think about JJ Mccarthy I bet people are kicking themselves on paying big bucks on him. I bought his numbered rookie for $5 four months ago. So I am out $5. I would rather spend $300 on a Joe Montana rc or A Marino rc seems how they already proved who they are. I would rather spend money on someone like Chris Sale rc or JJ Watt rc who I know are future hall of famers for $5 to $20.
@garygordon3075 He is 8 time all star a world series champion 2 time AL Strike out leader and this year's CY Young winner and he is not retiring yet. There are worse pitchers then him in the hall.
Hey the 84 Mj 101 card has shot up over the last year. They’re are now calling it the true rc over the 86 fleer. So my question is , is the 84 star 101 overvalued or is it still undervalued? Being the low pop?
So sad, that '84 Topps Elway rookie got skipped on by a streamer who was value bin hunting. He completely missed it, yet its been one of my most sought after football cards for me. That was so disappointing.

I would say underpriced as more gamblers turn into collectors which happens to some degree and with new people coming in I don’t see why the more important cards would not see demand rise as well therefore raising their prices.. just my two cents

Mid 90s thru 2014 has a lot of great products in multiple sports. Print runs are minuscule compared to today…. There is massive value there. The junk wax era has some gems too with topps Tiffany and bowman Tiffany releases…
Consider supply and demand. I assume supply goes down, however slowly, on average, over time. However, it’s unclear to me whether demand will rise. For example, I know the names: Unitas, Namath, Joe Greene, but they weren’t the guys I grew up watching. I’d like a few of their cards, but they’re so expensive I would need Poor condition cards to afford to add them. My son wouldn’t even know who they are, so he has zero interest in them. So, as we pass the torch to the next generation, I’m unclear how to project demand. There ARE players in the SCI 500 he would love (Ronaldo, Messi, Jordan, Mahomes). New cards / players like Ohtani, Judge, whoever else comes along, will replace others in the SCI, which is something important to keep in mind. Great question. I hope I helped with the conversation!
great thought.... are we bringing in new collectors or gamblers? I tend to think its the latter - my son doesn't collect how I collected back in the day. I couldn't see my fav players unless it was magazine, tv or cards. He can watch highlights of his favs 24/7. He's much more interested in what the card is worth.
I am 47 and think we may think we were more of a collector that we were. I remember wanting to pull the 86 Canseco because it was worth 100 dollars. We still wanted expensive cards
The over priced vs. under priced is partly contributed to the collectors or ''investors'' who buy PSA 10's. When you look at the prices of a PSA 9 vs 10 for a Rickey Henderson or Barry Sanders rookie, the disparity, is mind boggling. To me, most people would not be, able to tell the difference of the 9 and 10 grade. Probably not even the graders.

Everything you said was correct, except for Chris Sale being in the HOF. There's zero chance of that happening

I think people are realizing this junk produced today will have no real value in the future since everything is so over produced and watered down
I feel quality is always better than quantity. That said I’ve been trying to sell off some cards to get cards I’ve always wanted
Unproven Chrome prospects yes. 1987 O-Pee-Chee Barry Bonds is the most UNDERVALUED card in the hobby. POP 39 and going to easily rocket past $100k
