Great review, those drivers in VO or VC are splendid and very well tuned. Both are masterpiece, Zach created something very special with both Verite's ❤❤
_I can't be the only one who prefers the VO to the Caldera, right?!_ 😆 While there are some aspects where the VO still bests any TOTL planar I've heard to date, I totally respect why many choose the Caldera over the VO. With the hype culture in the audio community, it's not surprising that the VO has been overshadowed. When it comes to this hobby, newer doesn't equal better (exception: IEMs). But, it's easy to get sucked into the head-fi hype when everyone is raving about the current flavor of the month. I've fallen victim to it myself. That being said, ZMF has managed to keep me away from the headphone "merry-go-round." As a consequence, I've also contracted ZAS: ZMF Acquisition Syndrome. 😂
Certainly not, I think it’s my favourite ZMF. Can’t wait for the review to come out BE2 pads Looks like we’re going to build the VO army, everybody’s been quiet, but I’m going to pull them out into service
I had a chance to buy VO for nearly half the price, than I thought more about Atrium but ended up with my VC 😂😂. I do not regret my decision by any means, VC is my perfect closed back but there is that urge for open ZMF headphones. Still thinking about Atrium but if I get another chance for VO in good price I may take it :)
Very nice review. Of the headphones that have come and gone in my collection, VO is one I can never let go. Have you tried the Universe Suede pads? They make the presentation less immediate but provide a more even frequency response and superb imaging. With these pads, VO sounds like a two-way system in an acoustically treated room. Female voices gain texture and body, the sub-bass remains intact, and the mid-bass becomes more linear.
@@Mau10 I have indeed, the slow reaction of the pads tend to frustrate me a little bit though, but that’s the good thing about ZMF, you usually end up with a few headphones in one When you pad roll
My favorite dynamics. I run mine with BE2 perf lambskin pads like you. Burson Soloist 3GT with different op-amps and it fixes the one issue I had w them which was slightly recessed upper mids. The VOs sounded slightly veiled in that region when I first got them. They did change over time but more clearly with different gear. Wouldn't change a thing now
Beautiful review, owning the whole ZMF lineup, Caldera gets most of my listening time still, but VO is absolutely amazing for some vocal heavy tracks and small jazz arrangments, especially with tubes, still using them on regular basis several times a week. A great headphone and a review that it deserves. One qustion, which wood are those VO you reviewed?
Great review as always! The Verite Open is a fantastic headphone. It is my third favorite Open back ZMF headphone. My favorite one is the Atrium and then the Caldera. Though I have been itching to do more VO and Caldera A/Bing to truly see which I prefer. The VO is great for metal due to it having the most recessed upper mids of those three above. I do appreciate its technicalities over say the Atrium or the Auteur. It may not have the soundstage and open sound as the Atrium it is still up there and sounds incredibly Holographic. The Be2 perforated pads are my fav too for the Verite and the Atrium. You are spot on about the Verite Closed overshadowing it because of it being a fantastic Closed back. I think many prefer the VC due to it having a bit more of a "fun" sound signature while not having as bothersome of treble. The Verite Open has a lower treble peak that bothers my ears more than the VC does. But still that is for sure preference depending on what music people listen to, their preferred sound, and their treble sensitivity. Are you wanting to review the Auteur OG or Auteur Classic? I could send you one of them or even both of them if you wish for review. I have every fully custom zmf headphone and I love them all. I have like 20+ headphones at this point. Just let me know. I can send it any time. I could send the Eikon or Atticus if you want too!

Because they are my top 2 favourite ZMF, it’s a difficult one technicality vo TuneIn atrium Probably look on the used market for both LOL But if you really pushed me, I might grab atrium first it just depends on my mood But I’ll always be hunting Vo Genuinely so difficult I recommend watching both videos and finding the best ones that suits your needs personally
Thanks for the review. I would like to hear your thoughts on the VO with the Tungsten single and double sided. Clearly the VO is easier to drive. I have a Lyr+ with a Bifrost 2/64
When I listened to zmf vo and vc I found them bright (so was Atrium) in the treble region vc more than vo. Looks like reviews are split on that it has to be the unit variations.
I found VC a little harsh and forward in the treble until I change the pads to the hybrid autor And in regards to the VO, same scenario until I swap the pads for the be2 I think Pat Rowland makes a difference and what source equipment you roing
I've owned these for a week now and just don't get the Be2 pads? They sound veiled and muddy vs the universe pads which sound open, engaging, dynamic and have extension ... Do these headphones really change that much with burn in ?? ... I should add my chain includes a Hugo 2 and Icon Audio HP8

Love your channel and I believe there is a perfect headphone for everyone but the Verite Open/Closed is so overrated and if you look on forums the most for sale because it’s a very neutral boring headphone. I found even my $20k WA33 Elite with upgraded KR HP Tubes still sounded boring with no excitement. Thats not really true. But hey, opinions are like...well you know the saying. I own most of the ZMF lineup as well as Susvara, D8000 Pro and had plenty of other totl around. VO is a great headphone with very special tuning that some love and some hate. It comes to live on Ha-3a or a solid state Bliss just as it does with OTL amps, it never sounded flat to my ear, but with Burson Soloist which had a rather bad synergy indeed. Maybe you expirienced bad tube synergy. Saying that generalizing Zachs work like that is bit weird, Caldera rivals some of the highest end headphones on the market atm and considering ZMF focus are not technicalities but the natural sound tuning, weight to the notes and realistic instrument sound reproduction, its still more resolving than my Utopia on my stack with a TON of detail. VO was compared with Utopia on release for a good reason. Atrium is considered is maybe not the most resolving headphone but does so many things right with its natural sound, fantastic vocals, giant holographic stage and it probably one of the most agreeable tunings we have around. And yeah - the AC is probably the best closed back headphone on the market today with very addicting bass you will probably not find anywhere else. Why the hate? ;D
