Thanks for the video. Your review is spot on based on my experience. I’ve been running mine nonstop for a couple of weeks and it’s the best sounding DAC I’ve heard out of the 10 I’ve tried. It has limitations as you noted. If you want just a DAC and the best sound for about $2K or less, this is the one IMO. Why you most certainly will ask. The sound of cymbals is just right not too harsh and not too rolled off. Drums sound like they are playing in front of you. I’m hearing details on my very revealing system I never have before. I noticed slight differences comparing other DACs in this price range but this one was noticeable right out of the box. Highly recommend. Rock on!

I received my Cyan 2 and it immediately whooped my Audio-gd R7's arse which was around $2.5K when it was new. It has everything, holography, deep soundstage, superb timbre and dynamics but what really drew me in was the clarity and transparency. I feel that it won't become dislodged from the main system anytime soon, and might even cause another one or two more to come my way.

I bought and installed the Cyan2 yesterday with a Synergistic Pink fuse. It’s really built like a tank! My first impression is that both needs running time, before I can judge it. There are very interesting more affordable brands now which still get into prices ranges that are not cheap. So if I for example get two schiit Tyr amps and a freya pre amp I might have something very nice for the money but at the price range about 5k I also can have a second hand Accuphase e-600. Hi koji.
Watching your video helps me to think about buying new gears. big thanks for it.
    Today i have some question.
I use headphone, dont have speakers. Currently i have schiit audio gungnir multibit dac. but never tried holo dac before. I like tube amps (prefer organic, airy, holographic, lush sounding) Now i am considering cyan2 for my secondary dac.
If I'm trying to buy a dac that can beat cyan2 for sure, I'm wondering which dac I should buy (I think you said in this review video that it should go over at least 3k price, but the statement that it sounds more musical than may dac is confusing me). Also do you have any experience with schiit dac?(gumby or yggy) can you compare cyan2 with them?

Yes, it’s possible to have better DAC technically, and yet be less musical of course .
No I’ve not tried. That line of product is very difficult to get hold of in the UK. The last time was in 2017.
For those characteristics you talked about the May is the next unit. You can jump from head with a tube amplifier.
I would bypass spring three seen as this is pretty much there
But there are other DAC that are far better and technical than me the numbers don’t always tell the story I recommend looking at the lampizator baltic DAC same price as May or a used Atlantic TRP2 or TRP3, review will be coming out shortly. finally, I have come to the point to go digital and invest in a decent DAC. I need to decide for the Cyan2 or a used Spring2 KTE, for as good as the same price...
I will only use 1 source, and it will be Pi2AES (using AES or I2S) - so really don't care for the missing input selector nor USB. Nor do I care if something is new or 2nd hand :). From the looks, the Spring2 would win (I am using horn speakers + mcintosh2300/275 tube amp)...
What option would you go for? I understand from the video the Cyan2 has that rich tonality for which the Spring2 was famed for; but then the Cyan2 might even combine this with the attack and snappiness of the Spring3/May... so overall Cyan2 being the best of 2 worlds and best option sonically ?

The apex level DAC reviewers for me are Hans and iiWi and it is worth watching their reviews
I have a Cyan 2 and it works for me
    Worth checking it out
No features may be a problem for some but it may be just what some may like a lot
I use a SPDIF 4x1 in and out with a remote if I want to switch

@@Clockrossino I think my biggest surprise was how incredible it sounded out of the box which was very unusual addition and especially the holo stuff required hundreds of hours and it was a consistent thing on a couple of devices
This sounded excellent out of the box and just got better and I think it flattened out within a week
