I liked the way they humorized their trailers, but both the video direction and especially your song deserve some positive recognition.
I guess it would lose some of its charm if this was an official trailer.
I love how the destiny 1 song focuses on what the guardians fight against (the dark), while this one focuses on what they fight for (the light)
And as usual, the song contains some references to the destiny 1 song, which is something I absolutely love about your songs.
They mesh with each other very well^^ I absolutely adore it^^
Destiny 1 itself didnt focuse on anything. The Grimnoire Cards focused on the Darkness.
And even then they where mostly Worldbuilding,
The Devs even said they regard the entirety of Destiny 1 as a beta like thing.
I expect a Shitload of retconning on Destiny 2. Wich is sad because i spend a lot of time Learning all about the story.

As much as I love the feel this song gives... It pains me to realize besides us old timers... New Lights will never experience that story, the moment we had to "bring the light back", the Red War... None of it... I miss being able to replay that story...
Maybe they'll add a campaign option in the legends tab
You know what breaks my heart, now that we know he's coming back? It's that the New Lights won't know who Cayde is. I'm a Hunter main and our Vanguard is finally back, and my boyfriend (who recently started) can't share my excitement because "who tf is Cayde?"

Holy shit, the atmosphere this creates... Thats what I always love about your songs. They create this feeling - they all tell a sort of story, visually, lyrically, musically. It's awesome.

This set of lyrics hits so hard! The rush, the heroic rise in tempo, the fade back into the chorus. Look. Even if you don’t like the gameplay loop or loot system, if you read up on the story then you see what Destiny is really about. Fighting off Darkness so the ones we care about can live in the Light. How much more profound do you want?

I dont know if this is specific to you but in some of your songs you have a part in the middle where the music suddenly stops and you almost whisper. This makes the songs way more awesome!

So when I was listening to this, I couldn't but help notice the part that sounded way too similar to the first song (not just in terms of music), so I decided to put the lyrics of the first's chorus next to this verse, and my god I love Gav for doing this.
The first song:

In case you missed it, the last of the first two lines of each stanza are reversed (if that's even how you'd say it)
Regardless of whether you understood that or not, the lyrics in order respectively are:
cataclysm, silent prison, paradise, sacrifice
sacrifice, paradise, silent prison, cataclysm
Maybe some of you missed this, maybe some didn't, maybe everyone's missed this so far or maybe everyone picked up on it and I'm just pointing out the obvious, but nevertheless I think this deserves recognition and appreciation. It really adds to the lyrics and reminiscing to the old song. Keep up the good work Gav

I think I finally understand Destiny now. The game itself is pretty inaccessible in it's story and lore, so this focused, goal-driven look at the motivation and throughline of a Guardian actually summed it up for me nicely. Thanks Gav, for helping me in a way you might not even have intended.
