    I cannot connect to the ecu at all when the diag cap is off while I’m bridging the pins? Yours works though obviously

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  3 месяца назад

      @Shrm4n Recheck the pins. Make sure you have a good connection. Also make sure you have a conductive enough wire.
      If all else fails, Msport parts makes a cap adapter that screws on to accomplish the same task.

    Even so with RK tunes did they send you that, so you could fix the code for your swap? I see rk tunes and I’m think after my swaps done I want to delete the SAP and codes for the missing auto trans. As well as maybe 93 tune. RK can hook that all up through the software?

    • @rileydines
      @rileydines Год назад

      Also what is EWS and why delete it? Is that like security stuff ir

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  Год назад

      RK Tunes can do all of that in the software. Mine is a 7k rpm limit, no speed governor, 93 octane, manual swap CEL delete. They can remove the check engine light but not the transmission warning light. To get rid of that light you have to swap in a manual ECU or pull the bulb out of the cluster. I did option B 😆. They do free updates too which is cool.

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  Год назад

      @@rileydines Yes, EWS is part of the anti theft system. Honestly, if it is not giving you issues I would leave it in place. It is the system that detects the chip in your key to allow you to start the car. Some people have malfunctions or when you swap ECUs it is easier to delete EWS to make it work on the new car.

      @@M-t3ch will my windows computer work? And yep sounds like a solid purchase that I’m going to be making soon. What about m50 intake manifold? They compensate for that ?

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  Год назад +2

      @rileydines If you tell them you have an m50 manifold, they will tune it for that too. Windows laptop is perfect! That is what I use.
      Their process is a little different now from the video since they updated their software. But their instructions are helpful.

    What Dinan stage did you have? And do you feel any difference between the tunes?

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  3 года назад

      I just had a Stage 1 tune. The increased rpm limit and top speed gone. The RK felt a little snappier than that one did but I also upgraded to 93 octane since there is no 91 by me. Dinan is very conservative as far as tunes go and to be honest I would stick with RK. They also give you free updates so they are also definitely the best value.

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  3 года назад

      If you are going to leave it stock and don't want to delete the ews or any emissions stuff the Dinan stage 1 tune is probably the best $$$ for performance. It will open up the motor a little bit more.

    Do you have an aluminum Dinan intake laying around to sell? Kinda specific but I’m looking for one haha

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  3 года назад

      Ha so funny thing. If you are curious if they sound different they do not. They sound identical to the CF one I tried both. I have my CF one laying around but I don't want to sell it.

      @@M-t3ch oh good to know then. I have the CF one and yea it sounds great but thought I’d get a more metallic howl at high rpms with the aluminum

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  3 года назад

      @@bluesubie02 Yeah I thought the same thing but I was disappointed when they were identical. I am still on thr hunt for a 3.5 ECIS intake because that is the only intake I have found that is better than AFE. Or the design is better rather.

      @@M-t3ch I don’t know about the ECIS, but the AFE and K&N sound incredible

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  3 года назад

      @@bluesubie02 Never heard K&N in person before. The ECIS design is the best by far because it allows for the most airflow from the grille. Same as the factory airbox but with the more free flowing filter.

      @M-t3ch  3 года назад

      I would suggest calling /emailing RK directly and asking them what they suggest you do. It might be different on Z3s than it is a regular e36. I wish I could help more but I do not have a lot of first hand experience with Z3s.

      One more question....when u email rk tunes ur original ecu software (read) is it the same wire hookup in the port?
      2 17 and 14 18?

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  3 года назад +2

      @@ryand8399 When you are grabbing your file just leave the cap on. With the cap closed it will automatically bridge 2 to 17. You only need 14 to 18 when you want to rewrite your ECU with a new tune file. If you load up the software and go to grab your existing file and you get a bunch of 0s it's because the pin 2 to 17 connection is not being made.
      And just a side tip. Keep all of your tune files. Especially your original one. Just incase anything happens and you need to go back. Hope that answers all your questions :)
