I'm a guitarist and I had that LP almost the day it came out when I was in High School. I think it was 1982. The entire LP WOWED ME! But strangely, even though I've played guitar since I was in Jr. High School, I never tried to learn how to play this song, I just sat down and played a bit of it after watching you. It never seemed worth it to learn the song because every band I was ever in not one of those guys could hope to sing this song, not even close.
I just saw this comment now after 6 months so I apologize for the late reply but yeah finding a singer who could do it justice is no easy feat! Still a worthwhile song to learn for the guitar parts, composition, and arrangement 😊

That's a Mini Floyd Rose. It was stock on this particular model (I think that only lasted one or two years unfortunately)

For now tabs are just not possible as I would have to post a lot less videos to allow for the time to tab all this stuff out accurately. I try to make the tutorials as accessible as possible and I include multiple camera angles for the covers so that one can get a better idea. I will probably get to tabs at some point in the future. Yeah this is a Mini Floyd Rose which came stock with some Deluxe Fat Strats only in '99 and 2000. It's a great bridge so it's too bad they discontinued them so soon 😔

Iron Maiden would be a better band if you were the 3rd guitar player instead of Jannick.
Hugely appreciate the confidence! I'm not crazy about what Jan does with his version of Adrian's solos on Hallowed be thy name or Revelations but honestly, I do think he's a great player . And among other things, without Janick we wouldn't have great songs like The Book Of Souls, Be Quick or be Dead, Dream of Mirrors, The Legacy... 😊

No, I don't use impulse responses. I do use a tone match I just get a sound that works with whatever it is I'm playing and then tweak it a bit if necessary.
I did get a tone match preset through Bias Amp just for some Piece Or Mind videos but that's about it.

Hallowed is a favourite song of many people including me as well. Just the recent live performances almost never do it for me. Bruce almost always sounds way better than 80s but the second solo... Not to hate on Janick, I love the guy, but I truly miss Adrian's solo on this one and some others. Anyway, keep up the good work :)
Thank you! It's definitely a favourite of mine as well. It's a song i never get bored with even after listening to and playing it for 30+ years ☺️ I know what you mean about the live versions. I think it's Janick always going one bar too long that takes away from the power of the transition to next part.
@@LicksOfTheBeast I always get the feel of "anxiety, pressure, anger" from Dave's solo and then Adrian's solo expressed the "sadness, acceptance, a little bit of final stress, relief (which will come after the solos at the end of the song)" part for me and when Janick plays it I don't get any of that. Maybe my interpretations are wrong but to me it's just like more stress and anger, maybe due to Janick's tone and phrasing. So I just say: "this doesn't suit the song"
@@FatemeKhodayari I don't think they planned it like that but that is a really good way of interpreting that solo section! The vibe coming out of Adrian's solo is very bittersweet and a shreddy solo really does feel out of place. I feel the same with Revelations actually.

I played the main riff a little off as I kind of went on autopilot and played it the way I had originally learned it, by starting on the & of 1...so the first two notes of the riff are wrong. Everything else is correct though 🙂

I realise Dave and Adrian have developed as players and naturally improvise but these original solos have always resonated with me. they fit really well. might have also formed the basis for some of the aces high solo licks... what is your favourite improvised versions of these soulos? I love Adrians fairly close to the original on Maiden England (essential viewing for Maiden fans)

Dave's pull off lick is just a pattern he likes to use so he did it on both Hallowed and Aces solos... With variations of it on other solos as well 😃
I love both the Maiden England and LAD versions and I kinda wish he'd still be doing it live because I'm sure he would be doing something really cool with it these days!

Man , my uncle and I love to play maiden together he loves iron maiden , he is blind but still plays extremely good , so learning new stuff for him is hard but me having sight can see what your playing and am finally good enough to grasp what I see and translate to him .
