I would put another desktop all along the side with the 2x2 Kallax and filing cabinet and then put the bookcases on the filing cabinet on top - would give more stability. Ikea worktops have really increased in price but top tip from me - I bought a lot of Lack furniture like their bigger coffee table which was much cheaper and then just never made it up but instead used the top as a desktop and the middle shelf as a desktop. Loads cheaper and actually gave me exactly the size I needed for my craft room
After hearing voices for many years, we finally found a treatment that worked, and I’m mostly not hearing voices anymore! Yay! That freed up a tremendous amount of emotional and mental energy, which I use to organize! In September , after get organized HQ virtual summit, I organized every closet, pantry, and upper and lower cabinet! October I had a craft show, and started re-organizing my craft room… it’s 85% done! I am waiting on my organizing envelopes for organizing paper scraps, stickers and embellishments… I will then organize the paper by color, and the stickers by alphabet and size, nature, floral, sentiments, etc, and the embellishments are in snack bags… I’m putting them in 9x13 clear plastic envelopes 4-6 baggies per envelope…that will have to do unless I find better permanent storage! I do jewelry making, papercrafting, and painting… mostly rocks and picture frames… I’m NOT a good painter/artist as far as fine detail!looking forward to see your finished space! So jealous you have callex units! I made due with Walmart 6 cube organizers… and Michaels rolling 5 drawer paper carts and 3drawer open rolling carts… I have two butcher block tables and workstation, and they don’t have drawers, so I stashed the six cube organizers with bins horizontally under the tables… one will stay horizontal, and the jewelry organizer in took out and made vertical storage to make better use of the storage space… it’s almost done except for some bead organization ( waiting on 32 bead boxes) and the envelopes and accordion-pleated folders for the paper-crafting scraps and embellishments/stickers… thanks for sharing your space! I love it! I have turquoise in my space as well! Love it!
Great work Lisa. It looks so good and to have created that extra work space is wonderful. I think the more space we have the more we acquire to fill it 😁. When our 2 left home what had been the spare room/study/sewing room became my dedicated sewing/craft space. I think about once a year I would rework it but it was never “right”. 5 years ago when I retired, we replaced the carpet with laminate and put Elfa shelving (Container Store) along one wall above the desk space. The room has a sliding double door closet but we removed the doors (they just got in the way) and put Elfa shelving and drawers in the space. I have found that I need to see the (labeled) boxes to remind myself just what I have. 5 years on I am still happy with the layout/workflow but have run out of storage space so the time has come to be ruthless, realistic and have a good clear out. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation.
I wish I could upload pics of my new craft room. It is a mess but filled with all the stuff I love! Crafts, scrapbooking, arts I have done and stuff to do more. My husband bought me a nice kitchen size table with 4 chairs with cushions for working in here. I need more shelves for storage! And a smart tv on the wall so I can watch your videos while I work. I love this room, as messy as it is! I have windows similar to yours that I love to open to hear outside noises... like the wind, the cicadas clicking crazily, and to smell the outside.
I'm using a spare bedroom in my apartment for my craft room. It's not very big and I would really like to get it more organized. Your craft room is beautiful.
I run all my plugs off a socket tower as I’ve only got access to one double socket too. I love the tower as I can use USB with it too and turn off and on different plugs as I need them 😊
I have a great space next to the laundry in our partially finished basement. My part is still mostly just cinder block and cement but I've done some painting and added a rug. I almost have my storage how I want it thanks to a bunch of second hand pieces and the cheapest boards I could find for wall shelves. My one big splurge item my husband insisted I get (when it came back in stock) is a rolling tool bench complete with power bar AND drop down table top so I can have a nice big work space when I need it but it doesn't take up all my space when I don't need it. It's the best to have a designated space and not have to haul out bins and boxes to do a quick project or mend!
Looks amazing, I would switch the shelves to the other wall. The 4x4 would be better on the left side. Putting the smaller 2x2 on the right side with you filing cabinet giving more room to open your drawer cabinets. ❤❤ thanks for sharing!
We moved into our new home a few months after you moved into yours and I have organized and re-organized my craft room a few times now. A few things that I have found helpful is one, to be absolutely ruthless when cleaning and purging. I have found a sweet little preschool teacher that I donate regularly to and knowing how happy it makes her it’s easier to get rid of things . Another thing I have found is when my bins and baskets that I use to organize my supplies are in the same colour pallet, the room looks more cohesive.
I have a dedicated room (though I am right now using the desk in living room due to lighting) I put in cabinets and shelves. Currently decluttering and getting better lighting added. Washi tape is all in a basket. There is just so many small things to keep organized.😮
❤❤❤❤❤Nice job! I’m so happy for you! Isn’t it nice to have your space ready for crafting? It does take time and will be a continuous process. Great job! I love it!
Love the organisation videos :) i have my washi like you have done sorted by similar colours :) worked really well for years. Every now and then i pull out the almost used ones and make it a mission to use them up and declutter at the same time :) x
It looks great! I’ve got to do this to my area…it is so out of hand…lol. I need to purge for sure. I seen you had a few washi tapes on a ring. That is what I put my on to color coordinate them. I’m not sure the size of the rings but I think I have about 10 on each ring. I then just drop the rings all in a bin and when I’m needing the washi tape I can easily pull the ring with the color or theme I’m needing. Also if I’m working on something for a bit I will hang the ring(s) I’m using on the side of the little cart like you have…then when I’m done I toss the ring back into the bin.
It looks great! Where are the teal/ turquoise/ bluey green boxes from that are on the shelf ? ( not sure how to describe them 😂) I love that colour! Xx

Yea! Back to arranging your craft space! Looks great now 👍
You could put dowel through each layer of the basket container and put your washi tape on them at each level…🥰
Do you have a place that you can hang rods for the washi tape? Use cup hooks as supports so you can remove the rods to get at the tape.

You know there’s never enough room to craft but I make do. I mess it up , clean and craft again.
I need to declutter more of my craft stuff that I'm not using. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love the turquoise color, so pretty
I moved from a full room to my supplies in half a spear bedroom. And crafting on a small desk in my family room.

Oh and I went through my fabric and trim and thought “do I really need a whole roll of this ribbon or can I donate half the roll”.

I think we are in the same boat. Too many things for our spaces. Hard to part with any of it
