Had a fj09. Great bike. The reason I believe yamaha restricted the bike is because it becomes unstable at about 105mph. Throw a steering damper and lower the forks just a bit, and you should be good to go.
Just came here to say I just got my ecu flashed last week, not only did he flash it and send it back to me in the same day he received it but holy F*ck it's like a new bike all the popping is gone it runs so smooth even on deceleration and that new top speed.... INSANE I can't thank Chris enough I'm very happy I choose Moore mafia!!!!
Hey, Chris. How much does it cost to have a bike like this ECU flashed at your shop? I'm thinking about getting one and the 110MPH limiter is not gonna be ideal if I go to my local track.
The throttle springs on the early fj09 and fz09 are too stiff and make the throttle feel snatchy. Also a flash helps but doesn’t get rid of it all. Needs a softer throttle spring. The front suspension on the fz and fj are really bad too.
Does the motorcycle have the front suspension lowered more than usual? I have a similar motorcycle, only it is a 2016 and I have experienced the “death wobble” a little before reaching the speed limiter I have been told by other owners that it fixes that problem, but I want to get a professional opinion. How can I fix that, I have a desire to flash an ECU on mine as well.
The Early FZ-09 were known for a very jerky throttle . Yamaha stroked the engine for more CC's and more torque and went to a lighter cast Aluminum frame in 2021..
Had a '15 FJ09 but in Flat Black. Made a great sport tourer. Was very snappy with that 900 Triple, but didn't have the top end of say my ZX10R Obviously. Was still a ton of fun to be able to pack up on it and go camping for a few days. Looking at those gain, I certainly should have had you flash it with a nice exhaust!
I own and ride an FJ-09, and having had an over 100mph tankslapper*/"instability issue" (on a Z750), I have no desire to have another. My understanding (from random internet guy) is that Yamaha engineers put the speed restrictor on because of instability issues - particularly when carrying a lot of weight, and some of the comments here from FJ-09 owners back that up... SO....get Chris to remove the jerky throttle response, but if you want to go high speed buy another bike, or get life insurance. The FJ-09 has a longer wheelbase than MT/FZso comparing to MT/FZ experiences mean nothing.... Still, great video, nice work, and a nice shop. Peace. *(There are those who say just take your hands off the handlebars when you have a Tankslapper - I hope I don't have to implement that knowledge (I didn't know it when I had mine)
My FJ is unrestricted and tuned and never had a unstability issue or anything close to a tank slap. I did have the suspension ajusted professinaly and lowered the front forks about 10 mm though.
@@svalenta23i bought my fj-09 with the forks already adjusted and dropped 12mm but still had a tank slapper after hitting a pothole and crashed pretty bad. I've done everything to make it more stable since then and still get wobbles at 110+ at the 1/8 mile line. Maybe the crash didn't help those forks😅
I daily a stock Yamaha FJ-09 from 2016 on the german Autobahn and it runs till around 137mph (222km/h) on the Dash... which is around 130mph (209km/h) in GPS. The bike you got to dyno seems very much more restricted to me... It is very unstable at this speed, if you don't crank up preload in the rear all the way... that's properbly why they did this from the factory. the throttle on mine is a bit snatchy but not unmanageble. What did the customer pay for this job? How much power would be possible with the stock exhaust?
I have a 2015 fj-09 since 2020 and stock it was restricted to 194 kmh (185 gps speed). I also crashed it on the first day because of a speed wobble/tank slapper so i get why they restricted it lol. I know it made 102 whp stock and now i'm up to 116 whp with a full exhaust and sprint air filter. I dropped the forks a little and added a steering damper but it's still unstable at high speeds...
Wow ! Good job Granny's is definitely going to be impressed ! Little country might get lucky tonight, now let's build something or something ? What happened to the M1 ???
My 2014 FZ09 was flashed years ago, since it was reportedly limited to 115 Mph. just got around to doing a speed run a year ago and got 147 Mph at 5000' altitude. Surely closer to sea level would have been faster. Air density was only 88 %. ruclips.net/video/wc5hkl1Grqs/видео.htmlsi=G-3vaWg3ZFa3gWyS&t=48
I have a Grey 2015 FJ-09 and have DynoJet ECU flash. Before I flashed it, the bike wouldn't go faster than 115. I've never tried to go faster that 100 since flashing the ECU, but the bike runs 100% better. Nice to know it will go faster if I ever need to.
The customer that own that bike gonna be smiling like the Quaker Oat man after Chris get through with it
I can only assume that the factories do this to help nice people like Chris with his business. Top work.

I have a Grey 2015 FJ-09 and have an ECU flash with DynoJet that I was able to do myself. The bike runs way better with the restrictions turned off.
Wow this is crazy good the owner is going to be very happy. Great job as always.
Wow, big improvement.
Idk how many of you have ridden one. But even with my gpr dmmpner my 2015 gets reall unstable around 135ish.
Yea i have a 15 and if you arnt riding 100% even 115 can get unstable.
Rickey Gadson says he ready to run it back when you are!! Only posting as a fan of both of you...
You are definitely a street bike performance guru, Chris! If I owned a bike, I'd definitely be bringing it your way. Awesome video, as always!👍🏼💯🇬🇺
Few years ago I had this bike and I wondered why it wouldn't go over 130 km/hr when I reduced the size of the front sprocket.

Hey Chris, film the rider's reaction post dyno tune ride. 30 second blurb. Will help with the marketing and make for fantastic videos.
Awsome. Would love to see your customers reaction on the tune . ❤
Finally! Some more oddball bikes!

Thanks a ton!
New sub, great content, the yoshi sounds excellent! learned a lot thanks.

It was the Flat Black that held you back. Too much air resistance. Go with gloss next time.

Definitely should have had the fastest red

The FJ actually has the same wheelbase as the FZ. The Tracer 900/9 has a longer swingarm

Throw on some sprockets and rake back some power at low speeds
Cool bike!
Why make A and standard the same instead of leaving standard alone and and making A the tune?
With all of the commuting I do this is the bike I should own. 😅
Chris, how about O2 sensor? did you disable/disconnect it and turn the warning off?
Yes it was disable in the ECU hence no light on the dash
Is it possible to have a mode no pops and have std have pops and b rain and no pops?

I want to get my 2024 Triumph Street Triple 765 RS tuned
Same , here. Hope Akra will make a full system, as well.
What is real world top speed gonna be?
Pay me for what I know, and NOT what I do. 🙂 Always take your bike to the Mad Scientist !

Insane.
If we talk power, would I need the Tracer 900 or the new Tracer 9
It's like a 3 horsepower difference lol
I want to see Chris tune a GROM
Wish i could get my 05 r6 tuned on the dyno by moore mafia. Would be a awesome video to give a subscriber a gift like that 😉
I got my Tracer 900 GT tuned and I didn't get any HP improvement from the stock HP. Is that normal?
I believe the later models (North American) were unrestricted so it might have been a less dramatic improvement
Not normal at all. I gained 14 whp on my fj-09 with basic bolt ons. Full exhaust, sprint filter, airbox mod and a flash.
So you lose the all the riding modes? I like have 3 modes but want u to flash my ecu
You do not lose the riding modes or any other factory features.
Awesome
170mph with two parachutes on the back..😅

Was that gps speed? I got mine to 252 kmh on the speedo and also measured it at 240 kmh on a gps (149 mph). There is a 5% error on the speedometer.
