Just got a ilke-new 2017 FJ09 W/6K miles... wow. Look forward to learning it. I think it'll get flashed for fueling and that unwelcome speed restriction in top three gears. I like it! It's as quick - quicker? - than the Fz1 I used to own, and feels much lighter. Came with a Sargent seat, which I very much like - comfy! - and it's blue, like the Fz1 and 'Strom that proceeded it!
I have had my 2015 FJ for little over a year now, picked it up for $6500 with less than 6500 miles. I’ve always been a fan of these bikes, was happy to get such a great bike at a great price! Heading out on a 8 day road trip March 2, can’t wait!! Nice ride my friend!
My wife conspired with a friend of mine to find me a new ride... and surprised me with it. 2017 FJ09 w/6k miles and a Sargent seat, looks new. Wow, what a ride. Make my current- and much-loved DL650 feel slow... and is comparable to the FZ1 I had a few years ago. I need to turn off this 115mph gov'ner...
Just out of curiosity I saw your video on the Kawasaki CRX 1200. I also owned one of these bikes and fell in love with a strong lowdown torque of the motor. But I also like the lightweight of the FJ09, and the torquey three-cylinder engine. Just wondering how would you compare these two bikes engine wise?
@jburgess5 That's a great question. The FJ-09 is much lighter with plush, long-travel suspension and a roomier cockpit. Though the ZRX1200R has more motor, the FJ-09 is always entertaining and doesn't leave you wanting more. The ZRX1200R is more precise handling with firmer suspension. I hope that helps. Cheers!
I was surprised when you scored one of these right after the test of mine. The pipe really isn't that loud. Not bad. This bike really IS a deal used. That engine is stellar. It's one that every biker needs to sample. The colors are really great this year, good we got that rain.
Interesting how that worked out. Yeah, the pipe isn't obnoxious at all and throttle response is linear. I think yours might be quicker with the ECU flash. Amazing colors this year!
Great video! If you could only have one bike in the garage would it be this FJ or the Versys 1000? Seems like the FJ might be more fun, can’t beat that triple engine, but maybe the Versys is a better all rounder?
The FJ is more fun, lighter and more nimble but the Versys is faster, has better wind protection, long-distance comfort, etc. Both are great bikes and it would be a tough decision if I had to choose!
Im thinking of getting one of these to upgrade from my 2009 Yamaha FZ6. I would keep the FZ6, but Im honestly tired of special ordering everything just to get basic OEM parts for the bike. No place carries stuff for it anymore so if something basic goes wrong, the bike ends up being out of action for months until I get parts from the manufacturer.
@@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 It stinks that the supply chain has been destroyed so badly. It was very easy to get parts for old bikes a year or two before 2020. Damn shame.
I worked as a motorcycle dealer for 10+ years and have been able to own and experience many, many motorcycles. No particular reason I sold it - just how I made a living. My selling a bike has no bearing on how much I like it.
I sold a Tiger 800 because I was getting annoyed by the tall weight. How do these compare? Oh, and do the roads in my video look familiar? 😊 ruclips.net/video/0Nh68i3XO-8/видео.html
The FJ is very light weight. I have ridden the Tiger 800 and found it tall, heavy and underpowered. The FJ will wheelie on command - very entertaining! Not an off-road bike though.

@jonbowden5207 Right on, John! The FJ-09 is a great all-around motorcycle. It's light, fun, capable, and comfortable. Enjoy!

Without db killer its loud✊🔥
Great review, I have the tracer 900gt and love it. This bike will be a keeper for me the CP3 motor is great.
Right on! It's a great motor in a comfortable, fun to ride package. Cheers!
I enjoyed the ride along. I like this bike.

Thanks, Eric! It is a fun bike. Cheers!
Considering getting a 2015 in red myself.

I feel your pain - since COVID, parts availability is a real issue!

@@thedude8526 I agree.
Did you end up with a fz09? I’ve just sold my FZ6N and looking at replacing it with one of these
Hey Jon, you mentioned you had an earlier copy. Can I ask why you sold it?
I worked as a motorcycle dealer for 10+ years and have been able to own and experience many, many motorcycles. No particular reason I sold it - just how I made a living. My selling a bike has no bearing on how much I like it.
Congrats! Can I ask how much you paid and how many miles does the bike have?
Hi Marcio, I'm currently selling the FJ-09. It's listed for $7495. It has 17k miles.
@@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 okay, thank you.
How are the factory hard bags, can you put a full face helmet in them?
They're nice. You can fit a helmet in them. Cheers!
