Jon's Motorcycle Rescue and Review
США
Добавлен 3 дек 2020
Jon's Motorcycle Rescue and Review was born out of my passion for motorcycles. I love riding, reviewing, buying, servicing, restoring, and improving all types of motorcycles. I am especially fond of mid 1970's through mid 1980's Japanese motorcycles. My goal is to share my experiences with the motorcycles and the products used in their restoration and improvement.
Outstanding Classic Motorcycles! Ephrata Breakfast Ride 10-6-2024

In this video, I'll go through some of the motorcycle highlights at the show and give a little history of each type. Two motorcycles stole the show and we'll look at those last. There were two CBXs, two 1983 CB1100Fs, a 1969 CB750, a 1980 CB750F, and a 1981 CB900F. All of the bikes were in beautiful cosmetic condition. The owner gracious...

Yamaha also made a turbo around that time: the Seca 650 turbo. I bought the non-turbo version brand new back in 1981. Lots of cool bikes at that show for sure! Funny, our riding season is just getting started here in southern Arizona!
Another great video! We lived in the best of times for motorcycling. "If I had to ride a Harley..." Hilarious!!! Thank you for all the effort. What bike did you ride to the show? (Or were you forced to drive for your camera gear?)
Excellent quality on the presentation, and the bikes were a great collection of interesting models. You know your stuff too.
When do the Ephrata events resume in ‘25? I’ve always wanted to go but cannot figure out where and when
It's always the first Sunday of the month. Usually starts in April I believe.

I have a 2021 titanium grey / green 900rs here in the uk, absolutely love it! Great review 👍🏼
Such a gorgeous ride
Right on!
Yeah man 👍🏼👍🏼when i think of my first addictive view of a bike i picture those early kawasaki z1 styles….which led me to my first bike which looked very similar ,a kawasaki 650 (think it was a csr 650 ? ) which had some weird tall sissy/ grab bar ….the tall sissy bar had to go immediately but it was all part of the side seat grab bars and wouldve been a headache for a teenager to remove and replace ($ i didnt have as i was paying the bike already with no real job) so out came the hack saw 🤷🏼♂️😬…after which it looked just like those z1’s and went like a raped ape (as we use to say back then in the 80’s lol)
Man two stroke 750 is insane…that 80’s ltd is probably the next style after my csr lol.. csr was an 80 or 81 if memory serves and was looks wise right in between the z1 and ltd ..i gotta find some of these bike shows in my area ! So nostalgic for me
The zrx ! The bike always wanted and never even rode
Eh sort of a let down those thomas werent real antiques
So cool! Thanks for sharing the memories!
I keep wanting to go back and walk around. Guess I will have to wait until next year.

Nice video. I have a question for somebody. Why do some add a header to a motorcycle? For example, I would think an inline 4 would get more exhaust out quicker with four pipes? Cheers from the Finger Lakes!
@fingerlakesdiet560 Great question! Many times, it's to lose weight and gain power. Sometimes, it's just for the aggressive sound of a performance exhaust. Cheers!
I’d take the rvf400. And paint a solo tail up with rc45 decals on it
@@mmotorcycles9497 Nice! It really is a beautiful bike. Cheers!
The real showstopper has to be the Honda RVF ---a.k.a NC-35 younger brother of the legendary RC-45 . I have seen one in a motorcycle repair shop without the fairing and tail unit , it was so complicated and daunting for home servicing work .

@ thanks Jon. Any reviews on the Yamaha Fazer, Radian, or Seca? And what a cool bike show!!!!
GSX in Australia too but a bigger fuel tank. 11.5 seconds over the quarter bog stock. Very enjoyable bike to ride. Had the 81 and used to race a guy I would ride with, he had the new GPZ1100. He had to work hard to get to the front 😁. Many, many fun times. From the get go, sitting on this bike felt like everything was in exactly the right position. For a big bike it was great to throw around and not too hard to put on the back wheel either, just a joy to ride.
@donaldwayne4219 Right on! I wish this one had the bigger tank. I agree with everything you said. As soon as I sit on mine, I'm at home. Cheers!

@@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 10-4 I will probably be heading in there tomorrow. Found a Goldwing I need a couple of parts off of. 👍
This motorcycle was built for Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is very heavy and it is the hardest to drive it in first gear. When a certain angle is turned to the left or right, it is difficult to correct it. You must be a very strong man. Mine fell off a few times at 1 mph when I was revving it in a parking lot. Only auxiliary wheels can help here, which I really don't want to put on. Another big problem is instability at speeds above 100 mph. No one can solve these two problems. Regardless of everything, I love this motorcycle.
Would have loved fuel injection
I don't mind the ZRX carbs - they were some of the best functioning stock carbs and had much better fueling than most of the later FI bikes (FZ1, FZ09, Z900RS, Ninja 1000, etc). With minimal preventative care, they're almost maintenance free. Cheers!
I want to Thank you for all the knowledge you pass on .
I have its great grand son the eliminator 500 lol fun bike I’m hoping Kawasaki rolls out a 900 model the 500 is the ninja motor with a longer stroke fun bike great for beginners and still fun for being a small cruiser

That's a fantastic question, Erwin! Two standouts for me are the Honda ST1300 and Suzuki's 1982-1984 GS1100G. Neither is super-sexy, but I enjoy riding them for similar reasons. Both have enough performance to be really entertaining, yet they don't pressure me to always be ripping it up like the sportbikes do. Both are capable all-around motorcycles. Cheers!

In 1978 I got my first bike. It was a used Honda CB360T. One day riding around in Omaha Nebraska, I stopped at a traffic light and a guy on a 1978 XS11 pulled up alongside. It was in Macho Maroon. Absolutely beautiful. I think he could sense my jealousy and felt I needed a show. When the light turned green, we made our left turn and as soon as we crossed some railroad tracks, he hit it hard. Later Versys 650 LT models came with panniers as standard. In the US, the early models (like the green one) did not. The Honda NC700X has storage where the fuel-tank is on most bikes, but it didn't come standard with side-mounted panniers. Cheers!

Way back when, being poor & cheap, I always at least tried scuffing up the metal clutch plates before splurging for new fiber ones. I don't remember my rate of success, but I do remember BUYING new plates on at least two bikes....
For those very same reasons, I've tried that on other bikes - it didn't work for me. Some times it pays to save up and then do things right the first time. Cheers!
Great job. Me, I'm allergic to 4 cylinder carbs. Years ago, I SO HATED getting the carbs into the airbox exits that I quickly moved to pods......and of course re-jetted. That was many years ago. Even back then, the prices on float valves were on the high side. I imagine they have risen in price.... My only "old" bike now is a single cylinder.
Thanks! I often feel the pain of getting a set of four carbs in and out of bikes with stock airboxes. In most cases it's a fight. I'm sure a single is a dream to work on. Cheers!
My all time favorite looking motorcycle. I've never ridden one but I'm certain it wouldn't disappoint. It looks like the perfect height for my 5' 8" frame.

You def test the sweetest bikes. Will you do a comparison of the Z900 and the ZRX1200 side to side, since you have ridden both? Im considering maybe letting the ZRX go for the Z900, but I do love that ZRX.
I love the ZRX too. The fueling on the ZRX is better at low rpm, as is the torque and hp. The Z900 feels lighter and has much better rear suspension. Looks-wise, only the Z900RS Cafe in green would tempt me to stray from the ZRX. It's a tough decision - both are great bikes. Cheers!
