I remember seeing this back in the early 2000's. It blew my mind then, and it still blows my mind now. Every speedrun I've ever seen is amateur sillyness compared to this. Not only is this game an absolute unforgiving bitch on one player mode, but this guy beats it while controlling two players at the same time. Incomprehendable.
@Imperia96 once you've played the game you know that only the center of the ship is critical, if you place the ship between the bullets like he did, even though the wings are touched by them the body isn't. its kinda strange but it actually adds more dificulty to the game since you have to have even more control if you want to do it. peace
demonic capabilities!!!!! simply awesome. limitless potential. I could understand normal space shooter two player but this is ridiculously hard on one player first of all, you have to have superb eye-hand coordination just to get through it one player, but WITH TWO?! inhuman and outstanding!!!
I've seen "one player controls both characters" scenarios before, but never to this kind of level, which always amazes me, as I can't multitask like this (at least, not that I can currently perceive). A salute to those who can use their two hands to control different characters and manage to kick major ass in doing so.
I can understand two epic players who are highly skilled and have had an insane amount of practice to pull something like this off. But one person???!!!! Holy crap! Are you kidding me? You are not of this earth. Mad skills I say, just MAD!!! Impressive doesn't even do this video justice.
Ambidexterity basically means "both-handed", rather than right- or left-handed. An ambidexterous person has no problem doing most things with either hand that most people can only do well with one hand (such as writing).
holy crap I just realized that one guy is playing both... not sue what would be more epic though. sure only 1 would need insane skill, but if it were 2, the cooperation shown in this video would be near paranormal mind syncing incredible, almost poetic.
actually something that requires such multitasking has been in use for some time. the pilot needs to control the helicopter, or a plane with one hand, while using the other to guide a missile.
It's called a hitbox. Shmups with large amounts of bullets (Called Bullet Hells) have a small 'hitbox'. In Ikaruga, the ship only dies if the bullet hits the cockpit in the middle, hitting the sides, front or back does nothing (Called 'Grazing')
I have though that for awhile now, im glad someone else shares this view! I bet japan will make real life size gundams, with just japanese kids like this guy controlling them to fight in wars
The Xbox 360 version is way more sensative to bullet fire, so that it's not just the direct center that can be affected. This would not be possible on the 360 version then
@LordRaikon Ooo alrite but i tried that but usually couldnt find the one spot where ur ship cant be hit i know its around the middle of the wings but some games seem to differ Whats more i cant move slowly on a arcade joystick i tried nudging the thing but it seemed to move the same as me holding it down and thers no more games of these at my local arcade T^T
Awe! You lost lives near the end! That made me sad. :( It'd be interesting to see someone hone this kind of skill even more. I wonder if you'd do better with a modded controller; like if the fire and switch buttons were on the joystick itself.
some people play extremely precise songs on extremely difficult musical instruments like violin. he plays the only song perfectly on a Ikaruga Arcade machine. give him a controller and a console version, and he probably has to practice for this anew.
can we say beast? and also ambidexterity isnt a factor at this point because thats being able to do something just as good with the opposite hand you're used to. He's totally playing something that requires two hands for a normal person with one hand each. he has excellent hand eye coordination. but his human side does show when he dies near the end. either way man Ikaruga is coming to Xbox Live Woot!!!
True though, but there´s no chance to beat beat this dude..;) Switched to another shooter after Ikaruga,Star Soldier R,was actually ranked nr.1 in my country 4 a while..:) Ikaruga´s still a really nice shooter, let´s hope for a second one..
I never got passed the third chapter without loosing a life and that was just controlling one ship let alone two like this guy does. The boss at the end always killed me. The only way I got to play past the third chapter was with infinite lives.
I think this is the case... Just kidding... Good player... And have to have trained the stage all the way... x'D But... Infact... I'm impressed... I get in sencond stage about to the half way before I die once... ;) (with one player - normal)
LOL Ikaruga is harder than the nipples of a blind lesbian in a fish market, and this guy just totally owns the shit out of it with one hand on each side of the controller. If there was a danmaku god, it'd have to be this guy. I'd like to see how well the guy does in Imperishable Night.
im sick of people saying that u have to be a nerd and spend all of your time on a hard game or else be japanese to be able to play it. ikaruga is a hard game, but you just have to trial and error play it until u realize the tricks to beating it.

CHRIST ON A COOKIE THIS IS INCREDIBLE! Im a shooter junkie, and this guy is easily one of the best period.

@burnoutpro15 I've been pondering this as well, and the only reasonable explanation is... magic.

Don't stop! Remember, that always will be someone who make the impossible. Maybe you'll be the next? So do your best and don't look for others. :)
Holy shit!
This is about 100x more amazing to people who have played Ikaruga and know how hard it is normally...

one life lost only. *anime jaw drop* you sir. deserve some sort of prize.
Now that is coordination. Amazing skills.
I have though that for awhile now, im glad someone else shares this view! I bet japan will make real life size gundams, with just japanese kids like this guy controlling them to fight in wars
We're witnessing a God here, ladies and gentlemen. And he is playing a God's game.
TE KK ERG!!! This guy deserves holy and unholy admiration...

actually yeah, I have. The final boss looks ridiculous. I wanna play that =D
@LordRaikon

Respect.
This guy got inhuman skill.
HOLY SHIT! you both only lost one or two lives.....EACH! i want this game.......even though it came out so long ago.
He's a freak to be able to pull this off, imho.
...what part of the words puzzle shooter bring the Mario Brothers to mind...?
Even if he did die once, that's still incredibly impressive. I bow to you sir!
Daaaaammmmmnnnnnnnn!!!!! amazing!!!!!!!!!!
maddox indeed brother. He would be proud. If he's still alive >_>
some people play extremely precise songs on extremely difficult musical instruments like violin.

You're insane, man! :-P
Supreme King God of Ikaruga.

MARADONA OF IKARUGA very gratefull to see it!
True though, but there´s no chance to beat beat this dude..;)

Ikaruga´s still a really nice shooter, let´s hope for a second one..
so beautiful...
From what I've noticed so far, your ship only gets destroyed if the bullet hits the very center of your ship.
This is absolutely amazing
My God... I can't even focus on both of them while watching.
amazing none-the-less...
thank you. any idea how to contact him? i'm going to look into that now...
This person is a wizard. :bow
Not only he control both players, he also keep the max chain on both planes the entire stage
Does anyone know the name of the person doing this? Absolutely sick!
He must be a great pianist
Yeah, his chaining is still almost perfect on BOTH ships. Effing MENTAL.
incredible..
Already seen his chapter 5 vid... and still just... wow
amazing.. wish I could watch in HD
just watching this is making my hands sweat and my eyes water
I never got passed the third chapter without loosing a life and that was just controlling one ship let alone two like this guy does. The boss at the end always killed me. The only way I got to play past the third chapter was with infinite lives.
One eyeball, one hand for each plane.
Mad skills, it's a shame u lost a life at boss. still, better than 99.99% of all who played this game.
holy crap do u just play that game all day?
O

I'm sorry, but I must try this now! It make's me fell owned! TOTALY OWNED!
My brain cannot comprehend how unbelievably hard this must be.
in. sane.
That's all I have to say.
I think this is the case... Just kidding... Good player... And have to have trained the stage all the way... x'D
But... Infact... I'm impressed... I get in sencond stage about to the half way before I die once... ;) (with one player - normal)
not only stereotype, japanese gamers are indeed great players in almost any arcade game XD.
good
Insane.
Man... EVERYONE dies on the 3rd boss. Even the pros! Now I don't feel so bad.
If gaming had ballet this would be it.
I like old school bullet hell shmups like giga wing and dodonpachi.
This video should come with a new pair of shorts, cause i practically crapped myself from just looking at the guy play it O_o
@Skyline1994PL: DO THE IMPOSSIBLE SEE THE INVISIBLE, RAW RAW FIGHT THE POWA!
Split-personality co-up gaming?
nice ^^
@EzioAditory he's chuck norris in disguise
thats insane
that has to be the best feat of gaming i ever seen, if someone has seen something better than that please show me!
wow.
I'm like stunned.
*jaw drops* O.O
It's art.
it means being able to use both hands at one skill.....but I dont know if it applies to SIMULTANEOUS GAMEPLAY?!?!??!!
Oh, okay. He IS human. lol, I saw him die...yet somehow, I'm thinking he did that on purpose too.
Fuckin' unreal...
OMG !!!
This dude's brain should be studied for the sake of mankind!
holy cow
...so what exactly did you have to trade to the devil to get this skill?
Indeed... Dreamcast has a smaller box while Xbox has a somewhat larger box and is more sensitive.
OMFG that was ridiculous
LOL
Ikaruga is harder than the nipples of a blind lesbian in a fish market, and this guy just totally owns the shit out of it with one hand on each side of the controller.

Indeed

OMFG
There are no words to be honest.
Uh no i dont think so.... the game just places things infront of others to make it feel 3 dimentional
Wha.whaa... WHAT?! o_e
Your coordination is just.... completely inhuman.
amen
God. That's all I have to say.
VTF-INO played this run.
No, S++ is the maximum rank, unless you count Dot Eater!
