Perfect street/strip car and I like the period correct wheels. In the 70s they all had tires sticking out past the quarters. Personally I like it as is! Nice find and a good start to a lot of fun!
Congrats, I also want a 55 gasser. Have thought about them for 40 years. And I will have one someday. This car appears to be solid and not hacked like some gasser rescues.
Love the big block and for the street I would go with the four speed. More fun that way plus that heavy flywheel taking a little longer to come down off of a rev is just sweet. My dream car is also a tri5 chevy and was getting there but a heart attack last Friday put an end to that. Now my big shop will go to waste. RUclips is my best friend now. There was just something simplistic and pure about it. 56 they tried to cute it up and the 57 just looked to girlie with the rear fins and chrome. My Cousin Kelly has his 57 Gasser from the mid 60's stored in a barn on his property. It's a 427, 4speed car complete with Mr Gasket Vertical Gate shifter, Olds rear end, roll cage, pie cutter slicks, WW2 bomber seat....it's the legit way it was when he raced it in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas. I've tried about a hundred times to buy it but no soap. If he ever does decide to sell it I get first crack at it so I'm good with that.

@@cavemangarage GOOD FOR YOU ! I know there were a lot of Small Block Gassers back in the day but most of the real successful or most imitated were all Big Blocks. My Cousin is getting softer by the day because he sees that I'm still Drag Racing and would take excellent care of the car and would do my absolute best to keep it as it was when we were young. Just this past February he asked me if I was sure I had shop space for that car since it's never been parked out doors and I assured him that if I knew I was getting the car....the only time it would be outdoors was at a Gasser stick shift Drag Race where it will get raced or a Car Show...and he definitely seems to be showing signs it's about to transfer ownership from him to me ! It's that deep big metal flake Blue and has all its original glass, and his old Bell Motorcycle Helmet that was painted with the exact same paint is actually still in the car yet ! When we spoke the other night after I posted to you about your beautiful 55 he told me the glove box of the 57 is stuffed full of time slips from all the drag strips that he and that car has raced at. He looked just the other day checking to make sure it starts, and the mice haven't found a way in the building and into the car (which thank God they haven't.) So he went and put a new battery in the trunk by the beer keg fuel cell they used to have back then and he says it turned over twice and fired right up. The old Carter electric fuel pump was dripping a bit and a couple of other tiny little things need replaced or repaired but all 4 tires were still full of air and the engine ran kinda rough for the first little bit but after it got up to temp setting there running it ran perfectly. If we get down there or when it comes home with us I will get hold of you and get you some photos and maybe a short video or 2. This. Car has the 427, Edelbrock tunnel ram and a pair of Holley 750s on it. An Aluminum Borg Warner 4 speed trans (and a whole half pickup bed load of spare trans parts lol) 2nd Generation Mr.Gasket inline shifter. Mallory dual point distributor, The American Made Fender well exit Hooker Headers back when they were really good parts still. Slide and tilt steel front clip, Ansen Sprint wheels in back with Cheater Slicks Mounted to them....and the fronts are regular skinny Firestone bias ply tires and some sort of spoked front rim I can't identify yet but will if and when it's in our hands.

You said Ohio Im from Ohio.I realize things move but way back in high school my buddy had a green 55 he redid the body I reconize the round wheel wells he put a lot of time in the rear quarters. His name was Ricky Weinandy . this was in 1979/81 i think... I know everybody cut the fenders back then but this sure looks like Ricks old car . he bought it from his older brother way back in the day. There Family ran the grain elevator in Alvada Ohio.. perhaps You could back track to see for sure.... My name is bob I had a 57 210 at the time. When everybody was running camaros and novas we had the old tri 5s. Damn nice car Yep I think de stripping her is a great idea. I saw You with the back seat after You rip out the cage and racing stuffYou are well on Your way.! Where in Ohio did You grab her? If this is the same car I havent seen her for 40 years!!!! I hope it was in a realy tight transport trailer, because mice and rat's are terribly destructive. Their nests and dropping are a bitch to clean, and it leaves a nasty odor in the car. Sometimes ' if it's bad enough ' you gotta re-do the whole interior of the car.

That’s Just a parked car only 10 years, I got 55 convertible (not for sale) I’ve had in storage for 27 years .. never driven it.. promised my girlfriend (now wife) back then it was a retirement project…. I hope it was in a realy tight transport trailer, because mice and rat's are terribly destructive.
Their nests and dropping are a bitch to clean, and it leaves a nasty odor in the car.
Sometimes ' if it's bad enough ' you gotta re-do the whole interior of the car.
Wherever this car was stored nothing got in it which is amazing

Hey Caveman, Just subscribed to see what you do with the 55. I also always wanted a 55 and never got one. I've had 3 57s but no tts. Please try to record as much work as you can on the 55. I'm older (66) and have done a lot of work on my buddy's 55 and just love them. Later

Barn find? That’s Just a parked car only 10 years, I got 55 convertible (not for sale) I’ve had in storage for 27 years .. never driven it.. promised my girlfriend (now wife) back then it was a retirement project…. Yippee.., only a few more years til retirement…finally.
