- for 4 years I have chased after this car. It has popped up for sale multiple times for sale but It was either too expensive, or we didn't have room, or or or........ No more excuses. the price was right and the car wants to live again and we are going to get it there!. Come with us as we pick up our new 55 Chevy Belair "Gasser"! Owned a 57 10:90 bracket racer..a couple of 12 second cars..sold my black 57 Nomad with like new original upolstry to a client and friend and made the down payment on a new home in Las Vegas.
Still have a 56 150 utility I found at a neighbors in Sebastopol...delivery vehicle for Pacific Bell Telephone and bought at auction by the shop that serviced it until 1966...they replaced the six with a 283"...sitting in my garage now with a L-78 BBC...12 bolt posi and Tremec six speed..painted black with blue flames and original five spoke mags.
Package area is carpeted with faux upolstry to match front seat.

Thanks Robert I’m excited about this one. It’s been a long time coming for me. Jake’s truck is in rotation now. I’ve got some parts to get started finally, I’ll talk about it a bit in the video tonight. We will get started on it this week

Thanks buddy! You probably did that’s for sure! It will be a while in this one. I just wanted to get it secured. Now I’ll start working on getting all of the history figured out. I think we know the issue with the Malibu, testing that next weekend. Fingers crossed. After that we are pulling the engine out of Jake’s truck to prepare for the swap! I want to have it running by April at least so we can take it to a show in Oklahoma! The 55 will be a slow and painful process lol
this 55 is the perfect project for a business coupe gasser. if you want the specs,reach out.
It probably had a carburetor sitting under a hollowed-out blower case. That was a trick some years ago. Looks like holes on the plate to mount a carb!😁
There is no tellin at this point. I sure hope that I can get someone to give me the correct or at least somewhat correct history on it to move forward.
Would be cool to put a loud gear drive so you get the blower type sound and use the empty blower housing just for looks kind of like they did with the fast and furious charger and the mad max car in the movies.

How are your fabricating skills ? I have seen worse & I suggest you order a Lutty's book they should have every panel you need .Good luck brother Hope you post the build.🤔😄
Hey thank you for that I will get my hands on one of those books. I was once a paint and body guy but not much of a fabricator. I have some buddies that are and they will help me along the way. I plan on teaching myself a thing or two as well. I plan on posting everything we do to bring it back around no doubt. Currently we are trying to find some property so that I can have a shop. The two car garage won’t suffice. So I’ve put it on hold at the moment. I need to finish up some things on the Malibu, so I’m focusing on that now, and the 55 will hopefully be started soon. Lmao !!! First of all yeah not going to do that now if ever. There are some bad spots on the fiberglass front end that need to be addressed. Haha she is always the sensible one. That 55 needs a 348 or 409 with Hilborn 8 Stack injection sticking out the hood and some 15" x 4" Aluminum slots on the front!!!
I thought about that but after looking around that motor is not in the budget. I’m trying to find out more information about the car. I want to go back to the setup it started out with. I have been told what it was but I want to confirm it with another first

The chrome if it’s above the side windows, is indicative of a bel air car. Best way to know is vin tag decoding. A? B? C?

Holy crap that's rough but it's a 55 so it's cool. My 55 had angle iron for rockers no floor braces floor halves half ass installed etc. You put new rockers and floors with braces etc it'll make a big difference. The cut roof kinda blows but there's still parts cars out there you can get that stuff and fix it relatively cheap. New parts are on another planet right now which sucks. That car is a little beyond what I'd be wanting to take on it'll be interesting to see what you do with it.
Yeah I don’t want to do much with it other than preserve what’s there. Add a nice roll cage, tilt the front end again, patch some holes and race it again. That’s the goal, we will see where it leads. Thanks for watching

Blower intake is from dyers machine shop Gary dyer made what you gave
No way? I figured because there was no design for plenum volume it was homemade. I guess there could have been a spacer not present. Did you know Chili and the car? If so I have some questions
@@StreetCarChronicles look dyers original manifolds he made in the 60s and 70s in the 80s Gary started using a copy of a bds manifold and having it casted without the logo . Bought many a manifold/blower kit from dyers and they looked just like yours .

Looks to be a Belair. The 210's didn't have trim on the front of the doors. Nice project.

Was going good till you said the top had been chopped. A little to much work for me.
Yeah I get it for sure but that’s what makes it unique and separate from the rest lol. I’ll never unchop it as much as I don’t like the chop because that’s getting away from the roots of the car. Kinda just comes with the territory of buying an old race car I guess. Thanks for watching
