Something else to point out... the battery performance while using displaylink is also BETTER than native video output (that uses GPU instead of CPU). This in the macbook pro (m1)
Dude, you are the MAN! Thanks for this video and your channel in General. I just bought an M2 MM 32G/1TB 12C/19GPU for Video/VFX/GFX work and can’t wait to take delivery. I stumbled upon your channel and subsequently subscribed. Great work brother, keep on keeping on.👍
Great Video, as expected! However, be aware the content protected with HDCP 2.2 will not be displayed, e.g: Udemy, Netflix and alike. This is not a limitation of DisplayLink software, or the chip inside the docking station, it is a macOS 'limitation', as the only way to achieve multiple displays that Apple makes available is via "recording" the screen!
7:52 Make it or break it. Great test for all possibilities. 10:46 same same makes getting best stability when docking multiple displays. My only disappointment setups are forgotten, are app dependent and mostly will not recall audio to output.
You can charge throught the cable, you just have to put the power cable (USB C from the mac computer) inside the usb C with the layout as PW100 then you carge with only one cable
My M1 MBA is probably my favorite computer that i've ever owned but only being able to output to one display just has always seemed insane to me. I have a 16 inch m1 max that I use with three monitors and that pretty much always stays docked so it hasn't been a real problem but if this was my only laptop, it would be a no-go.
Great review!!! Was looking to buy and M2 Mac mini and needed to be sure I can do 3 displays with the base model. Probably still going to up the ram to 16gb but regardless this dock will be on my purchase list. Thank you
I just got one of these docks for my M2 MacBook and it DOES provide power to the MacBook for charging. You need to connect a power source to the USB-C port with the PD indicator. From there the MacBook gets its power. My M2 MacBook get enough juice over the USB-C host connection to keep the battery fully charged.
@@christianl3592 It is a Pro. I have three external monitors and the laptop screen itself, so four total. I believe you would be able to do the same on a MacBook Air but I suggest contacting support to confirm before purchasing.
Can you mirror the displays? I would like to display my Mac desktop on 3 monitors in the office so others can see what I am doing, not standing behind my back
This is a wonderful and rare video. I am looking to have a 5-channel video output from a custom application on a mac mini 2 (Unity). I used this device and was only able to get 3 outputs, so I will try this! Do you know if there's a hurtz limitation on the monitor end, or something else I should know? Also, I've heard you can do multi-channel output with an ethernet hub, but I don't know anything about it.
hello I'm from Brazil. Good morning. I have a MacBook Pro M2, also a Dell Universal Docking Station - UD22, and a DH07 - Docking Station. In total I have five monitors plus the MacBook. Of the 5 monitors, three are working individually and two are mirrored. These two that are mirrored, can I place them individually? I would really appreciate it if you responded to me. Thank you very much.
Is it possible to use a Mac minis usb and hdmi to go into a 3 way splitter into a 4x1 multi view dock? Connecting a usb to hdmi cable to the 4x1 multi view dock and connecting the Mac mini hdmi to a 3 way splitter and then running 3 hdmi from the splitter to the 4x1? Ultimately the 4x1 would display on a 75” tv.
hey there, thanks for putting this monitor video together - answered a lot of small questions for me. quick question on the KVM switch: if I have 2x macs connected, does the BenQ KVM switch properly deal with wireless keyboard/mouse switching? super-specific question, but appreciate any insight 👍
Could I use this device to connect a distribution hub and then mirror monitor in multiple display environments, such as residential or digital signage markets, airports, shopping malls, and medical imaging markets?
How can I connect two external displays with M1 Mac 2020. I am trying to connect it via daisy chain but both the external displays are showing the same window.
Great content. I have a M1 Mac Air with 8G. Every time I run 2 displays - one of them freezes on me. I've changed the settings but still get have the same issue. What do you think could be the issue? I have hyper doc attached to air.
The Multi Monitor Support of Apple is a bad joke... We tried to switch to Apple. But a 2016 Windows Laptop wipes the floor with our MacBook Pro M3 Pro in case of multimonitor support. I can't wrap my head around that... just sooo stupid. 9:18 my Lenovo Thinkpad drives 3 4k Monitors with 60Hz over 1 cable while charging @ 110Watts using the Lenovo Thunderbold 3 Dock Gen 2. I'm so frustrated I can't find an answer to this question...maybe you can help. I have a new '23 MacBook Pro (NOT MAX) M2 32GB, provided by my company. No one knew you couldn't run more than 2 displays natively and the company is reluctant to exchange my new machine. I've been using a 2017 MacBook Pro for years with 3 Apple Thunderbolt Cinema Displays, both at work and home. I can't find anything indicating how I can run all three on my new MacBook Pro M2 and Apple support said it can't be done. I see plenty of devices out there, but is there one that would work to at least run one extra monitor, keeping 2 native, or one that can allow me to run all three on a dock? I've searched everywhere I can think of and hoping you may have an answer. Thanks!
@@ElevatedSystems Thanks for your response! The only problem with that is, my 3 monitors are 27" Apple Cinema Displays, with the Thunderbolt 2 cables built-in. I have the Apple Thunderbolt 2 to 3 (USB-C) adapters for each, plugged into my current 2017 MacBook, but I don't see any female Thunderbolt to male HDMI adapters out there at all that would allow me to connect the 3 Apple Cinema Displays to this dock, to work on my new '23 MacBook Pro.
