I got my Mac mini M4Pro, very happy now I travel between simmer and winter homes, one Mac and 2 monitors. And your second recommendation is awesome for business trips, hotel stays and other as my iPad and Mac Moni are always in my backpack. Thanks very much for your kind recommendation.
Seriously thinking of getting the Mac mini 4. And after this video, i think im even more convinced. Ive had an ipad pro for a while and i barely use it, maybe your idea right here will put it to good use!
In what specific way? On all fronts the Magic Keyboard is a worse experience than the one you get on a MacBook Air. The M4 chip is for two types of customers. The niche who know the apps that push it. And for those that want the nice screen and can keep it for almost ten years until it wears off. Desktop OS and apps on a 13” touch screen isn’t very optimal. Using side car, and having a surface pro on the side, I honestly don’t get the appeal of having a mouse and keyboard first software on a tablet. Blender on a surface pro is a very sad experience, until you plug in a 3 button mouse and Bluetooth a full keyboard, but at that point you using a computer with rubbish specs and all the inconveniences of a Bluetooth keyboard.

Finally updating my Mac setup at home. Replacing a 2011 27" iMac i7, a 2012 MB i7 Proand a 4th gen iPad Air with 2024s! They've served me well but I'm so chuffed to enter the 2020s!

If you DO click “Link keyboard and mouse”, you can pair your Mac!s keyboard, but it also works the other way around. You can kind of push your iPad cursor left or right into your Mac’s display, and you can then use your iPad’s keyboard AND trackpad with your Mac. YMMV with the 10th gen iPad though.
I’m literally only missing a Mac mini for me to go to school to become an architect, and I’ve been waiting for this video tbh, this is what I’ve been waiting for!
I'm actually wanting to replace my iMac 2017 with a new set up using a Mac Mini and either a new iPad or dual monitors because I need more real estate. Your video was supper helpful!!
I’m checking the new Mac mini standard configuration (cost benefit) and now after your video, a combo with iPad (the budget version as well), will be perfect, as my utilization of the Mac Mini will be infinitely less than the iPad, but when needed the “monitor “ is portable, thanks! 👊🏼
Hola Matt.. Im Ryan from Indonesia a new subscriber who still using macbook pro 2012 (non retina) for my entire workflow as photographer, to be honest this trick is so helpful and thankyou so much for this hack (for budget person like me whos thinking for upgrade my mac with new chip its so frustrated cuz it is not cheap). For the tech i wish for 2025, hopefully i could upgrade my macbook pro to the new chip :)
I just bought myself a Mac mini M4 Pro model. It’s due to arrive in the first week of December. Also a Studio display. I definitely will be using method 2 on my own iPad Pro. I can then take it out with me which will b really cool.
I bought the peripherals at the Apple Store (mouse, keyboard…) Now wondering about the HDMI port - I heard it can be used for high end audio. Which audio hardware uses HDMI?? Thanks for any comments
Getting into the Mac Mini from a 2020 iMac. Super excited to make the switch, wasn't a big fan of the new iMacs pricing and aspects (tho I was super tempted by the color!!) Used to borrow my ex's mini Mac back when it was intel, happy to finally have my own
Definitely looking at the Mac mini m4 and this video has sealed the deal. I was curious to know if I could use my iPad Pro on the road. I suspected I could but this has been really helpful, cheers!
It is easily possible. I just published a guide on headless sidecar for mac Mini M4 setups. No need to use, external monitors, dongles or any paid software at all. Just plain sidecar (Apple's integrated screen sharing) Find the workaround within my videos
Thank you very much for the valuable information you provide. We can also benefit from having more than one iPad, such as using it as an additional screen to extende the workspace by useing different apps on the different screens.
YES-SUPER! In process this month to get Mac mini m4 vs MacBook Pro with two 24” monitors or one curved. I have an iPad so this video was really informative. I would not have known this was even an option! I’m also planning this month or January to update my iPhone and would thoroughly LOVE the PHONE GIVEAWAY it’s the exact phone I’m wanting-thank you!
Matt, I appreciate this important information. Now I can buy an IPAD PRO M4✨, which cost less than an IMAC Display; and it’s smaller. Great News!! Thank you. 😀
I'd like to get into an Apple Computer, I have iPhone 15 Pro and iPad 11 in M4, and watching you use the M4 Mini, it looks like something I'd like to be able to do to take my photo editing with me. And, Looking at the new Switch when it comes out. Thanks for a great video.
Hopefully I am going to buy a new Apple TV since I don't have one yet and I like the integration it would have with my other devices. I also recently picked up a new M4 Pro MBP, and so far its great!
I wish Apple would do a pro grade camera with a full or crop sensor as I reckon it would be amazing the computational photography they use on their mobiles transfer to a “ proper “ camera 👍🏻😊
I am getting an iPad Air M2 to replace my old iPad this Xmas. I also picked up an external ssd thunderbolt 4 enclosure with 2TB m.2 for video/software engineering during Black Friday.

Ordered the Mac Mini - it's backordered - excited to pair with my Ipad! Thanks!
God I wish they’d make macOS available on iPad. The M4 with its display and chip would be so much better than a MBA if it could just use a decent OS.
I so wish it too! Or at least give a way to remote onto a Mac at home via iCloud on an iPad and use your Magic keyboard and Trackpad
this is PEAK sadness. anyone doing this is not respecting himself
“… Would be so much better than a MBA…”
I agree, but that is the reason Apple won’t do it.

Your ability to simplify complex tech topics for beginners is unmatched, brilliant work!
I’m thinking of getting into mac again. Haven’t used them for nearly 20 years. This new m4 mac mini is really tempting. 😄

Watching this video made me want the new Mac Mini even more, so that's what plan on getting for Christmas to replace my old Macbook Air! Thanks Matt!
I got Mac Mini M4 last week and love it

Cool beans! Thank you so much! I’ve ordered my my M4 mini instead of a new laptop. Definitely looking for the options you’ve mentioned. :)
The Mac Mini M4 is a really value for money device and I may get this early next year... maybe the 32 GB one.
A got the Base Model with 24GB/512GB it's a powerhouse
I watched all your videos leading up to the new Mac Mini. I finally bought it and love it. Only wish I had 3 monitors.
The macmini is not yet in stores and why would anyone need 3 monitors? As a backup?
I’m thinking of getting the Mac mini now and upgrading my iPad after this video! Thanks 😊
can't wait to win that iphone 16 pro max. great video. am definitely turning from PC to that macmini.
OLED portable monitor would be a neat option instead of using an IPAD. Still a neat use of Tech.
I will be the first buyer at the store for the New SE4. Keep up the great work Matt !
Plan to buy this Mac Mini M4 this Black Friday.
Macbook Pro M4 and Mac M4 Mini great combination!
