- Hello Everyone! Today I will be demonstrating 2 pearl cell puddle pour & dutch pour combos. This is unique because typically metallic paints do NOT work well as a pour over color BUT with Modern Masters Metallics it's possible and BEAUTIFUL!

Materials I used in this demonstration:
2 - 11"x14" Gallery Wrapped Level 3 Canvas (ARTIST LOFT)
Amsterdam: Sky Blue Light to paint edges (straight from the tube)
Modern Masters: Champaign
This Little Piggy Pigments (TLP): Ballet Slipper & Sockeye
Custom Blue Grey
Custom Light Blue Grey
Custom Light Blue
Colored Pearl Recipe:
4 parts Behr Satin Enamel Deep Base 7753 Scuff Defense OR 2 parts Behr Premium Plus Deep Base 7300
3 parts US Floetrol
2 parts tube paint or 1 part fluid paint (to tint)
1.5 parts Golden Gloss Color Pouring Medium (Or 1 prt GAC800 & 1/2 prt Liquitex Pouring Medium)
Water to thin (approx 4 parts depending on Behr satin enamel ratios)
White Pearl Cell Recipe:
2 Pts Behr Premium Plus Deep Base 7300 or 1/2 pt DecoArt Satin Enamel White
1/2 part Artist Loft Paint
1/2 part Apple Barrel White
1/2 part Liquitex Titanium White
3 Parts US Floetrol
1.5 Parts Golden Color Pouring Medium Gloss (or 1 pt GAC 800 plus 1/2 pt Liquitex Pouring Medium)
Water to thin (approx 2 pts)
Pouring Medium for PUDDLE/POUR OVER/DUTCH POUR paints:
50% Floetrol 50% Golden GAC 800 (or Golden Color Pouring Medium Gloss)
Puddle & Dutch Pour Paints mixed 1 pt paint to 5 pts PM and water to consistency (tube paint approximately 1 part water, fluid paint no water) (This is the ratio for highly pigmented paints like Golden, Amsterdam, Pebeo, etc)
No silicone used for cells. It was all the layering of the paints that made those cool effects.

Hi Ms Tara! Beautiful colors and multicolored pearls! I remember you had said something a long time ago about a friend (or maybe it was a family member) saying that they reminded them of pancake ice. Is that what it's called? I think so. Anyways, I'll never forget it and see it every time now. lol. My favorite is the the 2nd also BUT I must say, they are BOTH sooo pretty with the way the TLPs blended together, gave it depth and the beautiful pearls as a background! I just watched your video on mixing your Pearl white base and see that you measure,by weight rather than volume. I think that is why I don’t get cells since a I measured by volume and only used Artist loft soft body white paint. 😏 I would still like to know if certain brands of paints work better for the pour over paints. 😊

Thanks for sharing your work which is always stunning. 🤩 I have a question, is your Pearl recipe measured by volume or weight? I have tried your recipe twice but I get very few pearls even if my paint is very thin. I measured by volume each part of the recipe, is that ok? Are there paint brands that work better as the puddle paints? Thanks! 🙏
Hi Christine! Yes I usually measure by weight. Oz in particular. There are many paints that do not work as pour over paints. I keep a notebook because certain paints and paint brands do not work as pour over paints. Anything metallic (besides certain Modern Masters metallics) wouldn’t pearl typically. I have lots of no pearl videos that should help.
