  • Epiphone has brought back some of the cool solid body guitars of the 60s. In this video I take a close look at the Crestwood Custom, a model featuring a pair of mini humbuckers and the Epi Tremotone, a Bigsby-like vibrato.

    You demo'd the Crestwood to perfection. You really brought out it's individual sound, that mini humbucker sound on a thin solid body. Well done!

    I absolutely love this guitar! I have swapped mySG with it for gigging. I sing and play rythm. Its my absolute favorite rythm guitar ever. Especially when trying to put on a show and sing. It’s plenty light. I play it for 90% of our songs. Love mini hb’s.

    I own a Crestwood but can not play it as good as you. I do not get that good sound out of mine but you play it so smooth. I love mine.

    This is the best guitar playing I have heard in so many years...you're a great musician.. I'm looking to buy the Crestwood very soon can I ask what brand amp and effects you were using to sound check your Crestwood a fender? I own the Wilshire it's a fantastic player with the p90s... Great video!

      Thanks so much. Very happy you enjoyed it.
      I’m using a Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb. No effects other than Reverb. The amp is cranked up to provide the slight breakup you’re hearing.

    What are the necks like on these? I mean in the sense while the scale length is shorter, but feels longer because its attached to the body at the highest fret - like an sg

    • @leonardgriffieblues5845
      @leonardgriffieblues5845  Год назад

      Hmm. I’ve never perceived a difference in scale length because of neck attachment point, though it does change the relationship of your hands to your body so I imagine what you’re feeling is a sense you have to reach further to the fretboard closer to the nut. (Scale length is mostly felt in string tension.) For me, I never got that sense with an SG, but I have felt a bit of that “reaching further” with a Firebird so I can kind of see what you might be feeling. I didn’t directly compare this guitar to an SG, but they’re probably similar. I hope this helps.

      Thanks so much. It’s been quite awhile, but I believe it’s the typical 1.692” or 43 millimeter.

    The fretboards that are dry, they just need some fretboard oil to rejuvenate the wood. It’ll have it looking fresh as can be.

    • @leonardgriffieblues5845
      @leonardgriffieblues5845  Год назад

      Yes, I generally treat the fretboard when I set them up. I was speaking more of some of the Indian Laurel boards I’ve seen that look light and dusty no matter what you do.
      Thanks for watching.

    I would rather hear the guitar instead of a backbeat .

      While I firmly believe electric guitars are best heard in a mix, that’s an old video and I have since begun including a segment of just the basic sounds in addition to the demo with the backing track. Thanks for watching.
