    There's one more way. U can have account with rbc or td n with saving and chequing account, u can get tfsa account. U just need to maintain minimum $550 in it and banks won't charge u for having accounts. You also won't need to maintain minimum balance as u have multiple products with bank. Tfsa is a good way of saving money as there won't b any tax on these saving.

    Great advice on the banking. One question : Do employers not offer you zero balance accounts with banks that they have a tie up with? And every video I look forward to the special guest appearance by my friend Arya.

    • @gulatifamilyincanada318
      @gulatifamilyincanada318  3 года назад +2

      Here there no tie up between employer and banks, employees have all the rights to choose whatever bank they want and then provide the banking information to the employer for payroll. I hated the employer tie up with banks, and they won't let you use your own. I am so glad it does not work this way here.

      Yes there is one, the organization that deals with this is called CDIC (Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation). Your deposits are covered upto certain amounts ($100,000 for most banks). In my last 11 years here i have not seen bank going as a defaulter.

    Good info, I have a few questions, hope you don't mind answering them..
    1) can we open a savings only account in a physical bank, if yes is there any charge for maintaining the same.
    2) cant we pay our bills using a savings account?
    3) so there is no charge for having a chequing account in online banks?
    4) in online bank can we do any number of transactions?
    5) is bank draft = to India's Demand draft?

    • @gulatifamilyincanada318
      @gulatifamilyincanada318  3 года назад +1

      1- yes you can open just the savings account in regular banks. There is a limit on number of transaction you can do, and you cannot withdraw money out of savings. you will have to first transfer the funds from savings to chequing and then withdraw, withdrawing from savings can be very expensive (without chequing account)
      2- Nope, you need chequing account for your day to day transactions
      3- no charge for online banks for any number of transactions
      4- bank draft is same as demand draft

But yes there is an HSBC here, don't know why no one uses that here, may be they don't advertise much. Also i have not seen their ATMs around. So I can't say
