I am a person with ADHD and I can tell you that this is a real thing that happens. I have been work on switching back to the important task at hand. I am currently writing a book and get in to a slip stream of putting ideas from my head to the document.
I do this with studying. I always start a glossary then end up looking up dictionary definitions of all the words on the page that I didn't understand. So I end up not learning a thing about the subject I'm studying but atleast I can pass a spelling test.
I've always liked cleaning (when I'm in the mood) because it's very therapeutic and when I'm done it makes my mental and physical health feel a lot more organized, And I will say I do this ALL the time while cleaning, people always just tell me I'm just obsessed with organizing.
Im exactly the same. It’s also been explained to me that I have a super brain and super brains are ALWAYS optimising. I can look at a situation and know exactly how I can make it work more efficiently and then I start sorting it out. And sometimes I shouldn’t. 😮
So true, exactly with that example. I always start cleaning the dishes (which I hate, no dishwasher 😢). So I see something in the kitchen I don't like (not that hard in my kitchen). The next thing I did is doing something maybe necessary but not the task I wanted to do in the first place. And afterwards I feel guilty for just not doing the task, only the task. Now I now why.❤

I hope your book is getting along ok :)
No pressure ❤

This is really interesting. I used to call what you pretty much described as fixating but now I have a better word for it
Have you been talking to my husband? He always says I’m like a butterfly!
Yep, hits home here!
Alarms have one bad nature, they are way easily ignored 😅

Me when I was trying to paint but decided to rearrange my 3 closets 😅
Happens when I try to clean my bedroom and then focus on wardrobe only for hours. And rest remains.😂
Yes! Then you’re exhausted from hyper focus so you take a break that ends up lasting up to a week 😢

I’d love to hear your thoughts on microdosing! 🙏🏽 I read a paper on microdosing for ADHD and it was super interesting
That's me! Thank you for the alarm-setting idea, though, Doc! from Elizabeth in UK
Micro dosing... that's a story for another time.. lol 😂
Thank you
I can spend 6 hours cleaning my kitchen and ive still not done the dishes 😂😅
I have alarms for everything and timers for tasks like this 😂
I get this it happens daily
Interesting...I can't really decide whether I do this or not...
yeah i cant stop cleaning the stove i think i might have ADHD
I do
Yea, but the catch is, I've had to be the reminder person and I always got fussed at for it
You clearly have a hidden camera in my kitchen and you even know about the messy drawer. 🤦🏼♀️
Oh wow - this is a thing? Its not just me?
