People are always complaining about the night stages... personally I like them.
Coby James sometimes buttons don't work. Sometimes they're unfair. Sometimes they heal too fast. Sometimes it's repetitive but sure. Love them
Coby James My only complaint was how you could never fully enjoy the music because whenever the enemies showed up, it switched to the combat music. Other than that, I love them too.

Im a fan of the Werehog stages don’t get me wrong, but I’m not gonna sit here and act like peoples issues with them aren’t justified. The issue that most people have is it doesn’t feel anything like a sonic game, just a simplified beat em up and I can’t blame em for that but I personally have a lot of fun with them so and I find the slow methotical platforming very fun and challenging.
The werehog sucks to me. He’s slow and the fucking combat is annoying

I may have never played sonic unleashed, but I can tell the werehog stages aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be

They were fun af. I think that people bought the game for modern sonic. They'd use the same combos over and over again without learning new ones making the game harder. Although i need to play this again to confirm it.
They’re not. Trust me. If you go in with a open mind, you are most likely guaranteed to have a great time.

I'm sick and tired of people calling the night stages "boring, slow repetitive and not Sonic". I am sick of people saying "Sonic can't work in 3D" or "Sonic is only about speed". HE'S ALSO ABOUT PLATFORMING! And that's what the night stages do!

"Sonic games are about speed" sonic games only started being about speed with the boost formula. The genesis games were about momentum not Speed. If the werehog stages are bad because they're slow then the classic games are also bad. Why do so many people not get that.

And the werehog combat is shit and lacks depth compared to good Beat em Up games like God of War.
Im not saying that its the greatest combat system of all time, im just saying that its not that bad.
Probably because the Werehog has a pretty decent combat system. Nice combos, nice animations, the works.

It makes way more sense in this version to fight demons AND Eggman's robots. because the Egg fighters are basically doing a scouting mission for Dark Gaia force every night. And when Sonic enters at least one of the robots field of vision, they go into battle mode and Sonic (in Werehog form) beats the shit out of them. And when the Sun rises again, they patrol the area for Sonic (now in Hedgehog form)
Despite everyone hating the Werehog stages and his design, he’ll always be my favorite version of sonic, design-wise and gameplay-wise.

@@donathan2933 true, IGN and Gamespot only gave this game a poor review because of how badly 06 did, they didnt want anymore of sonic so they did this game dirty since it was the next mainline game. But now everyone loves it, cant say the same about forces tho cuz we have actual reasons as to why that game has bad writing and poor level design.
Probably because people sucked at the night stages and never bothered to upgrade werehog sonic and learn some of his better combos. Day stages was simple and Night stages required more strategy.

SEGA tried something new, they didn’t just say “let’s just add sonic put in some boss fights and rinse and repeat for the next game” no, they tried there best to do something different. Witch is why I love every sonic game (almost) Although i like the day stages more than the
night stages, they have a certain charm to them and the bosses at night are , dare I say it, the best bosses any sonic game has to offer (I’d even say the mini bosses give other video game bosses a run for there money) Also I feel the most underrated thing in sonic unleashed is the enemy designs ESPECIALLY for the night stages they just look so. damn. cool!
But seriously, imagine all sonic games were the exact same thing: beating stages, occasionally meeting some characters and fighting bosses

I obviously don't care how many people have been complaining about the night stages, I kinda enjoyed them, because of the soundtrack, the frenetic beat 'em up gameplay and the Werehog himself.
But the only flaw about it in the PS3/Xbox 360 versions is the fricken' quick time events, and that's why the Wii version doesn't have that.
Imagine walking around at night and this thing charges at you.

sonic comic fan 456 it’s must be hell to construct a long level for Sonic’s speed. 3D is like making an entire world.
Zonic comic fan 456, that is really off and clunky at times. Repetitive as well with the almost the same things to do all the time. Puzzles are the only thing that change and while it is a breath of fresh air, it doesn’t last that long.

It hurts me so much that the nighttime stages have so great music yet it's muted. At least in the Wii version if there was only one enemy the battle theme didn't immediately star. It only started in those closed areas.
I sort of wish they kept the werehog form, instead of it just being a one time thing. That theory is how I got into Sega Scourge’s what if? Series.

They need damn Werehog & The Black Knight, Werehog Colors, etc. They also need live orchestral music (like The Incredibles) with real instruments instead of synthesizers, especially for the Werehog related shit, which will also include Jazz Bands.

If there's one thing I love about the night stages, it's the combat. Really helps let out all the rage and fury.
After beating all night stages with B-S ranks, I’m fine by saying that the werehog staged are not bad.

Absolutely adore this game, but the night stages were def flawed. Each level should have had its own battle theme that was just a variation of the main one, and there was NO LOCK-ON SYSTEM. Manually aiming combos wasn’t the worst, but like imagine what it would be like if you didn’t need to.
Still loved the crap out of the night stages regardless. So beautiful and a fun change of pace. Plus beat ‘em ups are always a treat.

I'm all for Forces and all. For now. But if SEGA doesn't remaster or make a sequel to this game I'm going to have to shun them. At least bring back the wherehog as a power up er something. I'd prefer the team that made this do a sequel. Story was meh but the game, graphics, and music were all on point. The gameplay was honestly as polished as the graphics which made the game more of a finished product than a glitchy demo.

TBH, the night stages were funnier, with *Werehog Death Scream* every time you touch water, *Red Titans* bending their knees, along with Kenichi Tokoi & His Orchestra.
These night stages kinda give me adventure formula vibes :^

The night stages arnt actually bad at all, people just cant handle that there is a rather decent hack-n-slash mechanic here in a Sonic game.
I love the night levels, I like the hack and slash gameplay that it has, apart from the music that I love, of course it has its flaws like the camera that needs to be polished, but the Werehog is not that bad, it is a good playability
When I fought those big things with those clubs (don't know the name) I remember fighting 3 red ones and a couple of wizards, it has been awhile so I don't remember

I played this game about 4 times, 7 with the SD version, to be able to do Side Quest and platinum, and because I love this gameplay and sometimes I feel like playing it again. In all this time that I played, until today I did not understand why the stages of the night are so hated, they work perfectly! It is a Hack'n Slash that in itself is a great style of game, VERY WELL PRODUCED. Beautiful, interesting and ample scenarios to explore, the levels take time to complete and all that time is filled with very good challenges, the enemies are well positioned and the life bar system makes them not MEDIOCRE enemies who die from an Attack Homing, exploration is also very good, it has many platforms that make the gameplay very diverse, Werehog has 40 ATTACK variables. And yes, it's a lot of fun, it's not boring, you always have to move and face challenges, maybe the repetition of the song is bad, but it's the least important. Werehog has EXCELLENT gameplay and people hate it simply because they are big media cattle!

I like the night stages better than the day stages. I wish this game focused more on fighting these demons and monsters than just Eggman and his army of robots.

I honestly feel like the werehog stages were made to sorta bring back the sonic adventure style of more slow paced gameplay while also making it feel new at the same time with the combat. I know that fundamentally the werehog combat is basically gimped god of war but I just like them. I think they're fun and kinda immerse you even more in the world of sonic. Like most sonic levels feel like fantastic places while the places in this game they feel like actual locations. Sure there is still those sonic elements but videogames kinda have to have that. I like the werehog stages.

I think they could have incorporated more speed into the door breaking parts of the night stages instead of causing sonic to stop to break doors just make him charge(boost) through them. Other than polishing the gameplay night stages were fun idk all the fuss lol

Sonic Unleashed Night Stages in a nutshell:
Chun-Nan be like: ill have an Act 2 that is harder than Act 1!
Shamar and Holoska: We will have only one Act but a bossfight!
Spagonia/Empire City: We will have only one Act and thats it.
Adabat/Apotos: Why not a fair and balanced Act 2?
Mazuri: Lets have the easiest Night stage of the whole game as Act 2!
Chun-Nan/Shamar: Lets just cut half of our stage for a DLC Act!
when you saving tails from the boss if your total is D say will say "am out of here" and he just walk out from the screen it actualy funny
In all honesty, the night stages aren't that bad, but could be made amazing with just some tweaks to little things and by mixing things up a lot more. Also the problems they say this game has aren't actually as bad as people say they are, those mainly being the day stages are too short and the night stages to long. In reality I think it's just the contrast they created between the two which makes them feel that way, a contrast that is literally day and night. That's actually part of why I love this game.
So much better than the nighttime stages in Unwiished.
