My sister in law worked at an Eastside home back in the late 80s, early 90s as a CNA. She would change each of her residents before she'd leave for the weekend, taking care to date and initial the diaper sticky tab. The number of times she'd go back after a 2 or 3 day weekend and find the same diaper on the residents was sickening.
We need to get back to treasuring our elders, caring for them and finding actual good health care for the times we nonmedical family members can't be the primary caregivers.

Start looking into more nursing homes. Wellspring especially. Horrible. Black dude sleeping in my grandmother's bed while the nurse looks out for him so he can sleep. He was a nurse aid. Not licensed. Hired with no stna certificate. Aleays stole her food and drinks. Literally had no choice but to move her out. Dreadful place

3X in one month? There are SERIOUS ISSUES going on there. It's criminal.
How could he leave his uncle there? You see all these issues and leave your "loved one" there?

Administration on down has to care or they won't advocate for their patient care staff to be properly staffed. Some administrators get bonuses for keeping costs down. The floor nurses have to care and make sure patients are being taken care of and those nurses need supported by management. Some young nurses see it as a stepping stone and don't take the job seriously. When state comes in, the building is ran differently.

A serious lack of help makes this situation normal .
Thank God for loved ones who care enough to pay attention .
Documenting time, date and every thing you see wrong such as what this gentleman describe here is excellent .
You can turn them into the state but you also need to see a lawyer ..

Keep your loved ones at home. Healthcare workers would rather make house calls than to go to a facility that over works, under pays and makes work with limited resources. We need to push state congress to work in the favor of people not big businesses. It doesn't make sense to have insurance money to pay for facility care but not "private duty". Out patient therapy and adult daycare (activities) is a thing. We don't really need nursing facilities anymore. Most staff cares but some are burned out and give the whole industry a bad rep. My family stays with loved ones and it's a challenge but I'm sure if they had more in home professional support they and many others would thrive. Remember, nurse aides are usually young that just finished high school or going to college to become nurses. They would rather be making tik toks and RUclips videos than cleaning feces. But, if the conditions were better, more young people would be trying to enter the field.
